One of their elderly insured drivers smashed up my 2025 new, unoccupied car in our private lot. Over $7,500.00 worth of damage. Getting Safety Ins to cover a car rental, and other expenses is just terrible. Faulty claim number for a Hertz rental delayed a few days to actually get a rental. Their service is one of lies and incompetence.
Employee claim agent Evan Cloutier lied about working on my claim and calling me. He told me, "sometimes claims just get lost", and that he had a "thousand claims to work on." I was told by a coworker of his that he hadn't looked at the email I sent him with photos of receipts ten days after I had sent them to him, and his lie of having called me was easily disproven. His supervisor Stephanie took my complaints seriously when I spoke with her, but Evan's incompetence and lie(s) cost me valuable time and caused additional stress, while dealing with the aftermath of a house fire. It's a shame I couldn't have dealt with her from the beginning. If you have a claim with Safety Insurance, I'd advise against dealing with Evan Cloutier and ask for a different agent.
Horrible insurance company especially the claim departments. I don’t have safety insurance but a member of progressive, but their driver was at fault in an accident. It’s been almost two months and my claim had yet to be resolved, still waiting. I tried calling management, my adjuster and nothing but mere and horrible communication. I will recommend all my friends and family not to pick this insurance company, cheap doesn’t mean quality.
We had damage to our property fence by one of their insured on Nov 3, 2024. We reached out to Safety Insurance and made the initial claim. The adjuster took two weeks to get in touch with us via email even though I had called several times to try and get their contact info. The adjuster's name is Chloe. I then responded to her several times via email and received no response. I never heard back from her so I sent her the pics, the police report and the estimate for repairs. She never responded. I then sent her the paid invoice for the repairs and she again has not responded. I have tried several times since and have heard nothing from anyone. When I try to call it goes directly to voicemail and I have stopped leaving messages. So today March 14, 2025 I contacted an attorney to help with this matter. This case is pretty cut and dry and a has a very low loss amount. I have dealt with several insurance companies in the past and have never even come close to hitting this type of road block. I should not have to pay an attorney for something so basic and easy. See the pics below. I would never use Safety Insurance for insurance and I highly recommend that you don't either. This has to be one of the worst insurers out there!
I recently had to work with Safety Insurance Company after my car was hit, and I was fortunate enough to have Joseph Bianchini as my Claim Adjuster. Joseph was incredibly professional, clear in his communication, and made a potentially stressful situation feel very manageable. His expertise and efficiency were evident throughout the entire process.
Clown show insurance. A driver backed into my car he said it was his fault adjuster came know call after 3 weeks accident Dec 9 2025 still waiting would not recommend
My parked car was hit by one of their insured and it took almost 2 months after they accepted responsibility to send an adjuster out to look at my vehicle and now almost 6 months later after calling several times I have not been reimbursed for the tow or rental car and still have not got my vehicle back because one wheel was damaged and the repair shop was told he could not replace all 4 and is having trouble finding one because they are after market wheels and tires. I'm looking into a lawyer to help with the problem.
My experience with Safety Insurance has been nothing short of a nightmare. After my accident on July 28, 2025, I was left without a car and without the ability to work. Instead of supporting me, Safety Insurance did everything in their power to delay, deny, and lowball my claim. Here’s the reality: • Unresponsive Adjusters – My wage adjuster went completely missing for 4 ½ weeks. My repair adjuster? I couldn’t get a call or email back for 2 weeks straight. I had to chase them down just to get a response. For a company that prides itself on “service,” this was pure negligence. • Cherry-Picked Numbers – I provided sworn statements, years of coaching pay stubs, and gig app proof. Instead of calculating my actual lost income (over $12,000 for 5 weeks), they ignored Massachusetts law and came back with a pathetic offer of $2,576.65 — less than a quarter of my documented loss. • Breaking Massachusetts Law – Under M.G.L. c.90, §34O, I am entitled to recover the reasonable value of the use of my vehicle when deprived of it — even if I didn’t rent a replacement. In Manning v. Nobile (411 Mass. 382), the Supreme Judicial Court made it clear: loss of use damages equal the fair value of what I lost. For me, that was my car as a work tool (gig driving + commuting to coaching). Instead of following the law, Safety cherry-picked “averages” to pay me less. • Capacity Ignored – Massachusetts courts also recognize that damages are based on earning capacity, not just historic averages (see Goldstein v. Gontarz, 364 Mass. 800). I proved I had a coaching job and a $1,000~ DoorDash week. Safety didn’t care. They deliberately ignored capacity and pretended my car was worth nothing more than $73/day — insulting and completely false. • Bad Faith Behavior – By ignoring evidence, dragging their feet for over a month, and lowballing me with an offer of barely $2,500 when the law supports my full $12,000, Safety Insurance violated the spirit of M.G.L. c.176D §3(9) and c.93A (unfair claims settlement practices). They know if I pursue this, they could face double or triple damages — yet they still chose to play games with my livelihood. The result? Instead of peace of mind, I’ve been left stressed, financially strained, and forced to fight just to get what I’m legally owed. Bottom line: Safety Insurance does not care about the law, their customers, or fair treatment. They will delay you, ignore you, and slash your claim to the bare minimum — no matter the evidence. If you want an insurance company that will stand by you in an accident, avoid Safety Insurance at all costs. They are not on your side — they are on the side of denying you what Massachusetts law says you are entitled to.
Had one of their insureds damage my car, and it has been the worst process I've ever had to deal with. They won't reply to any of my emails, I can't get my "claim rep" on the phone, if he even exists. And to top it all off, THEY WON'T PAY FOR MY REPAIRS UNTIL THEY RUN A BACKGROUND CHECK ON ME! I'm not their insured, I was rear ended at a stop light, and now they treat me like I'm the bad guy?! I just want my car back from the shop, but thanks to Safety, I have to wait even longer. Luckily they also have to pay for my rental, hope the extra days are worth not issuing payment! What a joke.
Had a car accident on 6/19 and went with an ambulance in er. After two weeks I had to call to find out what is happening with my car and was told that got totaled. My son and myself have been trying to reach out to the total loss adjuster through emails and no response. Called Safety to find out who’s at fault and was told that because I was taking a Left turn even if the other driver was going 100 miles and I could have been dead I would still be at fault. This is the customer service at safety and the adjuster. Thank you for being a valued customer with Safety for over 5 years now.
