It’s an exceptional experience, that is truly, uniquely Kansas City Lonnie McFadden is many things: entertainer, band leader, jazz trumpeter, tap dancer, singer, songwriter, and recording artist - but another most befitting title is historian. Lonnie’s Reno Club, a homage to speakeasies of the past, comes alive each weekend as Lonnie and his quartet take you on a trip from the hard-swinging, bluesy transition style of Basie to the bebop style of Kansas City’s own Charlie Parker … … and everything in between and after!! You are in for an evening that covers it all; along with the best part, Lonnie’s stories of the history and heyday of the Kansas City music and jazz scene. Having visited four times now, I’ve sampled everything on the pre-fix menu and can say you can’t go wrong with anything you choose. My favorites: Appetizer: Shrimp Cocktail Main Course: Beef Wellington Dessert: Creme Brûlée … along with a delicious cup of The Roasterie coffee.

Lonnie and the band were amazing hosts for our anniversary date night. We had amazing drinks AND amazing food on top of that. Everything was exceptional. We will be back!!

A transformative ambience, hidden in the basement of the Ambassador. Luscious red curtains and a tucked up stage. Huge portraits on the walls of jazz greats. We got to hear Shaun Munday instead of Lonnie and it was still a great show and experience. Add good food, impeccable service and we'll be back! Note: you can make a reservation for a variety of times, but your rez is good for the night of music, like a dinner theater! Don't plan to be anywhere after: enjoy both halves of the show with a good bottle of wine.

Absolutely fantastic! I can’t say enough good things about our experience. Lonnie is simply the best performer I have ever seen, he creates a truly electric and jubilant atmosphere. Lonnie’s show alone would be worth the price of entry (not to mention complimentary champagne at the door). On top of that, the three course dinner was very good. Both my wife and I got different courses and all 6 offerings were deliciously prepared. The speakeasy-era cocktails were on-point and there knowledgeable wait staff were readily available to explain some of the more nuanced menu options. Speaking of the wait staff, the service was great! If you’re a jazz fan, this show is a must-see. If you’re not a jazz fan… it’s still a must-see! I think Lonnie’s performance transcends genres.

My husband and I bought a room package at the Ambassador that came with two tickets to Lonnie’s! Wow! What a fun entertaining evening! The show was great, the food and cocktails were also very good! Our server, Armoni, was the best. She was very attentive, pleasant and even took a personal interest in our celebration and gave us many compliments! Look forward to coming back again.

The show was excellent! My boyfriend might have been slightly disappointed it was not Lonnie but I really enjoyed it. The food was good but I felt like we were mostly paying for the show, and it is fine but you should be aware of it.

Amazing night! Lonnie’s Reno club is the best experience, entertainment, in Kansas City!!! Must go if you haven’t been. We went to celebrate our 37th Anniversary and absolutely the best time ever! Lonnie puts on an amazing show! We will be back again....

A fantastic show with outstanding service. Food was good, execution was on point but the recipes could be tweaked. Good wine list and prices, though a short selection. Corkage is$30. Great place to enjoy some KC Jazz and have a very good meal, all at a very reasonable price.
