We recently returned for our third time. The friend we brought along said that this set the bar so high that nowhere else will be able to measure up. The show is fabulous and changes enough that it is fun to see again. Lonnie has so much energy and is a great performer. During the intermission, he visits every table and the other musicians are available as well. The club seats less than 50, so it is an intimate experience. The first two times, the food was adequate, but I am happy to say that in the February 2026 visit the food was much improved. The Beef Wellington was very good and the desserts were stand outs.
Lonnie's Reno club truly deserves a visit. The performance was nothing short of amazing! He is a remarkable artist who beautifully weaves together the roots of jazz, creating an experience that lingers in the heart. His band is exceptional, filled with some of the most talented musicians I’ve ever had the privilege to see live. Thank you, Lonnie, for sharing your gift with us; it means so much.
Absolutely incredible experience. Lonnie’s Reno Club is one of those places that feels like more than just a show. The entertainment was amazing from start to finish, the food was good, and the whole night gave us a real taste of Kansas City. What really stood out was how the show mixed comedy, music, storytelling, and a little history of the city into one experience. You don’t just sit there and watch; you feel like you’re part of something uniquely KC. If you’re visiting Kansas City or even if you live here and want a night out that feels different from the usual dinner and entertainment, Lonnie’s Reno Club is absolutely worth it. Great atmosphere, great people, and a true Kansas City experience.
My husband took me here for my 50th birthday it was a great night. Atmosphere was incredible, high energy and we danced! Definitely coming back.
I came here with my partner for my 26th birthday and let me tell you… this is by far the best restaurants I’ve been to in KC, maybe even one of the best experiences ever. This will be a night to remember. The service was fantastic, the music and experience awesome, and the food - oh my word… the beef wellington was one of the best I’ve had. I’m visiting from London England and Lonnies rivals any jazz club to exist in the UK. If I could give 6/5 I would. What a fantastic evening. If you’re thinking of where to take someone for a memorable evening - this is the spot!
A beautiful experience! Absolutely recommend. The show was so captivating and uplifting. Made us feel like we were a part of something so much bigger.
Strongly recommend Lonnie's Reno Club for celebrating anniversaries, promotions, and birthdays. I suggest large groups. The more, the merrier. Lonnie is world class for entertainment. The band is amazing as well. Great food dishes (Prawns, salmon, beef wellington). I guarantee that you will be in for a treat. You will learn about the rich jazz history of Kansas City and why this establishment is named "Lonnie's Reno Club." Overall, this is one of Kansas City's best kept secrets. The live singing, the food, the tap dancing, the instruments. Lastly, no one feels like a stranger at Lonnie's!!!
Amazing experience. The food is very good but the reason for going is Lonnie and the band. "Best date night ever" was my Wife's response after the show was over. During the intermission our discussion focused on which friends we would bring first. I was originally trying to make a reservation for Capital Grill and this popped up on Open Table as a recommendation. The total cost for the two of us was less than dinner would have been at CG but the experience was 1000 times better. 3 course fixed menu so go on the website and look at the menu and drink options. This was the most fun we have had in Kansas City.
Lonnie is incredible and so talented! This is truly a jazz club like no other. The level of entertainment is incomparable - you will have the time of your life! My recommendation: go for the entertainment, skip the dinner. More details can be found on the food below. I would be remiss not to mention the disappointment we experienced with dinner. The food is 3/5, but what's more upsetting is the lack of transparency in their menu. If you have food allergies or restrictions, I would not recommend dining here (maybe go just for the entertainment). For example, I have a seafood allergy and do not eat pork. I expect menus to list all major ingredients in their offerings or at the very least for servers to be knowledgeable about what is in the food items. I advised them of these restrictions yet every course I received came with a food allergy or restriction - Caesar Salad comes with whole anchovies (not listed in menu), Beef Wellington comes wrapped in bacon (not listed in menu, as some places prepare with and some without), and the Rosemary Lemon Chicken comes with collard greens that contain bacon. We were also brought out a complementary appetizer that contained prosciutto. At first I ordered the beef Wellington, then began to question the ingredients listed in the menu when the salad was brought out with anchovies. I asked to change my order to the chicken after receiving clarification on how it is prepared. I was never informed that the chicken too contained pork despite the server being aware of the restrictions. Overall, the salad was good but both the Beef Wellington (husband ordered) and the Chicken were unfortunately very dry. My husband says the Wellington tasted more like a pot roast. Desserts were delicious though. As I mentioned, I would not eat here again but would absolutely come back for the entertainment!
My wife and I went to Lonnie’s Reno Club last night. I was so looking forward to the evening all week. The entire experience far exceeded what I was looking forward to! Lonnie McFadden is a KC Legend. I have told many friends in KC and beyond I rate him with many of our treasured institutions and teams. Several years back I had the pleasure of a short conversation with Buck O’Neil and I have listened to many of Buck’s stories. Buck was an Ambassador of Major League Baseball, The Negro League Museum and KC. Lonnie is equally an Ambassador of Jazz and KC. Last night we experienced a guest Pianist, Joe Cartwright. He was incredible both to watch and listen as the keys were flying, no other way to describe it. Jordan Faught on the Bass was making the bass do crazy things, and Tyree the drummer, what is left to say but outstanding. Best of all there were Smiles, Laughs, more Smiles, Jazz and a good time for all last Night!!! PS: Thanks to the serving staff and a special thanks to Ashley for doing a wonderful job. #Lonnie’sRenoClub, #JoeCartwright, #JordanFaught, #Tyreethedrummer
