This building has SO much potential, and we were lured in by the promise of luxury, but were left severely disappointed. West Edge is a beautiful building, in the perfect location, with great floorplans, and great build quality. No complaints there. We paid a ridiculous amount for one of the nicest units in the entire building, and we really loved that unit. However, the management declined in quality throughout our time there. I'm usually the type of person to look past that since I'm very self-sufficient, but this was impossible to ignore. The management woes extend far beyond the usual complaints (rent gouging, maintenance, excessive fees) and are just pathetic. This building is the perfect example of Greystar cutting costs and raising prices. - The front desk concierge staff have zero responsibility and are often watching videos out loud on their phones and ignoring residents. Why even call them "concierge" ? - The leasing office staff are incredibly misleading and will tell you something one day, then tell you something completely different the next day. Nobody seems to know the answers to anything. They never take responsibility for issues and will always deflect blame. - The manager, Derek Schaefer, is one of the worst professionals I've interacted with in quite a long time. He will try to talk circles around you and say "trust me, I've been doing this a long time" and then blatantly mislead you. He avoided us for days and then when we ran into him in the elevator, he said his emails "failed to send". It's 2023, emails don't just fail to send - Management communicates to residents like we're a bunch of ungrateful teenagers. Someone forgot to pick up after their dog? Parking violation? Everyone in the building gets a passive aggressive email. You pay for luxury but get talked down to like you're living in a college dorm. - We were told that the window washing would start on May 1st, forcing everyone to remove their balcony furniture, and then a month went by without it happening. A few residents complained, and management sent out an email saying "for a little perspective, imagine if you had to clean the windows yourself" ???? - The parking garage has a dedicated car wash spot that has been there for years. They shut it down without notice, then later claimed that there were "unpreventable" water leaks. An entire amenity wiped off the table. I'm genuinely sad writing this review. I really wanted to continue living at West Edge, but it just wasn't worth it. In one short year, everything got worse, and nothing got better.
When I moved in during May of 2022, things were very difficult, the management staff sent me to the wrong loading dock during my initial move in, the parking spots they gave me were occupied by other residents ect... However, In the last couple of months the management staff changed. The new staff has been helpful, organized and accountable. I have worked with Sequoia the entire time I was there. During the difficult times, she was understanding and empathetic. During the good times, her standard for excellence did not waver. I would say, west edge had made a remarkable turn around and is a great building in the downtown area.
Our favorite thing about living here is the very personal concierge service led by Concierge Manager, Isabel. Isabel makes sure the entire 24x7 concierge team knows everyone in the building by name (even their pets!). The team stays on top of our package deliveries for us as well, which can't be easy in a building with over 330+ units. It's our 3rd year here at West Edge and we can't think of a better place to call home here in lovely downtown Seattle!
West edge is a beautiful apartment building. Like way upper end. The views are incredible. Like one block away from pikes place. The atmosphere is electric and the staff are second to none
Ty has been excellent throughout the leasing process, truly the best manager we’ve worked with in Seattle. He’s transparent, responsive, and genuinely helpful. His honesty about the units and the building made it easy for us to choose West Edge. From the tour to the paperwork, everything has been seamless so far, and we’re really looking forward to moving in! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I toured West Edge last month and had a really positive experience. The amenities are great, the building is beautiful, and Rosamarie was a great leasing agent as she gave me a tour of the property and info about the units. While I don’t think I’ll end up living at this property, I’m very happy with the experience I had touring!
I’m giving West Edge one star, and this isn’t an easy review to write. For nearly four years, I had a positive experience living here. The on-site management team was responsive and genuinely tried to improve resident life. During our time there, they installed an air curtain to help keep bugs out and replaced Fetch with a proper package locker system — both meaningful upgrades that made a difference. Day-to-day living was good. Unfortunately, my move-out experience dealing with Greystar’s corporate systems really overshadowed that goodwill. When we moved out in early September, we paid what’s commonly called “accelerated rent” — essentially paying out the remaining rent owed under the lease in a lump sum as part of the early termination terms. Under those terms, once the unit is re-rented, the former resident is credited back the overlapping portion so the apartment isn’t collecting double rent. A new resident moved in mid-October, which meant we were owed back the prorated portion of rent covering the period after the new lease began. In mid-November, an attempted payment bounced because it was deposited into my payment-only Bilt account without notice. I emailed to clarify and received no update after three weeks. In mid-December, I began calling. The leasing office referred me to receivables; receivables told me that the amount was marked as paid and referred me back to the leasing office for further questions. Emails went unanswered. Eventually, in late December, after speaking with a customer care specialist, I was asked to provide a mailing address so receivables could send a physical check. By mid-January, there were still no updates despite multiple follow-ups. In late January, after two more calls to receivables, I was told the check was “in process” and would be ready in two weeks. I finally received the check in mid-February — roughly five months after vacating. I understand that many of the individuals I spoke with likely didn’t have the authority to resolve the issue themselves, and I don’t fault the local team for corporate-level bureaucracy. But as a former resident, I shouldn’t need to navigate internal silos or chase down departments for months to receive money I’m owed. We were close to filing in small claims court simply to get a response. It’s disappointing because the building itself and the on-site staff were solid. But the lack of coordination, communication, and accountability at the corporate level left a lasting negative impression. If you plan to live here, just be prepared that your move-out experience may depend less on the building team and more on how smoothly Greystar’s back-end processes function.
I was able to tour West Edge recently, and my experience was amazing! Gorgeous water views, luxury interiors and amenities, and an attentive & friendly team make West Edge such a fantastic place to live. Highly recommend!
0 stars. I lived here for a few years because I could walk to work. The elevators are down all the time, which currently only two of four (**sometimes only one**) is working for 300+ units, and people cannot move in and out because the moving elevator is down. I’m moving out in a week and I’m scared I’m not going to be able to leave. You can hear the elevators inside of units and I actually had to move units because of this and it was a complete nightmare living/fighting with management about it for two months before they let me move units. A security guard also tried entering my unit at 2am two days after leasing gave me keys not stating who he was. Other maintenance issues also include constant water shut offs, trash chute back ups and overflow, microwave and refrigerator going out and having to be replaced, glass shower shattering in the middle of the night, mold in showers and laundry, etc. My refrigerator issue took them **six visits** inside my unit to fix. They tried giving me another broken refrigerator before finally giving me a new one. The water is also off so much I have gone to work without showering multiple times and I know others have experienced worse with flooding. Also, illegal rent increases I’m sure a lot of residents are not even aware of but the City confirmed for me recently which is why I am done. Zero accountability from building owners, managers and maintenance team, in fact any time you bring something up they first try to ignore you, and then try to gaslight you into thinking it’s not an issue. Open drug use all over the area including heavily on 3rd Avenue and the alley behind the building. This place is a mess and it’s 100% not worth it. It’s also very hard to move in and out of, especially with all the people doing drugs in the alley.
My experience at West Edge has been amazing. The Maintenance team is swift and communicate well if and whenever I need them. The community is very accommodating and pet friendly. The icing on the cake is the team at West edge. From the friendly and helpful faces of Wendy & Isabel at the front desk; and even admin and maintenance help from individuals like Ali, Ryan, and Ty, there is a friendly face ready to make this place feel like home. Lastly, a big thumbs up to the event planning. There’s always something new to look forward to regarding the community. This is a great plus when you live in a city known for having “the freeze”. West Edge receives two thumbs up from me. Highly recommend.
