Advice from an MBA- Limit the amount of clothes sellers can bring in at one time. This would encourage sellers to only select the best items versus every dirty piece of clothing and jewelry in their closet. If a buyer has to go through three IKEA sized bags of clothes, it creates an unreasonably long wait time for other motivated sellers. I watched a buyer spend over 15 minutes sorting hundreds of used items from SHEIN to end up only offering $28 of store credit for the seller. How much do you pay your employees? Is that a good return on investment? I had time to go grab coffee, drive to Lululemon to return something, try on and buy a new shirt at Vince, and then drive back. Then when I returned I clicked “I’m at the counter,” but your system bumped me out of line. When I showed the seller what happened and that I checked in a hour ago, he put me at the back of the line. He then had the audacity to ask another person waiting if I could go ahead of her even when I had the time stamp to prove my place in line. I hope your business enjoys the free Theory sweater I donated. I will never sell or buy anything here again.
Hey guys, So I called the store ahead of time spoke to a Sara. I explained some of the items I would be bringing. I also asked did I need to send any photos? I explained that I did not want to waste my time or theirs if the items were not wanted or needed. Fist of all it is a 25 min drive for me with out traffic. We live in Texas...need I say more? I arrived to the location about 40 mins after I started the drive. Put my items on the counter and began the process. Now , side note my items are new. Like in this past year to 6 months new. They were items I had ordered and then ran out of time to return. The one dress was an 80.00 item black with stars and moons! Super cute for the right person. Anyways the process took about 10 mins. And I was offended nothing, not a dollar! The upset is I had asked several questions before making the drive. And to only have not a single item purchased? I will not be going back to this establishment. My suggestion is set up some sort of live web cam so that possible clients can show you items for review before wasting their time and yours. Thanks
Nice aesthetic, very nice employees. However, I don’t recommend shopping here unless you’re looking for used H&M shirts priced at $15 (the same you’d be paying at H&M). I don’t think I saw a single item priced below $15, yes I found some nicer clothing here than I would at a Goodwill, but most of the things sold here would be found at a Goodwill for 70% less. I will say if you’re bold enough to purchase hand-me-down shoes, Buffalo Exchange is the place for you. 2 stars for employees and the indie vibe of the place.
I always seem to find the same pieces of clothing here each visit, which sucks because it’s mostly been Forever 21 or Shein. Most clothes look VERY obviously worn, have stains, or are just plain hideous. The staff also look very worn out and are not friendly at all. I have managed to find some unique pieces here and there, but the attitude of the staff and overall selection make me not want to shop here. Honestly I would just stay away.
Went to exchange a closet full of clothes and get money back. The way they looked at us when we walked in the door, we had a suspicion they wouldn't want anything I brought. I had a lot of clothes. They took exactly one item, and gave the rest back, telling me that it was not in season. I know for a fact most of it was short sleeve, and I even had some sleeveless tops. Everything was in good condition. Looking around the store, it appears that we just aren't trendy enough. I wouldn't wear anything they had in store. We wasted a drive from Fort Worth just to get $5. Not worth it.
A fun place to find unique clothing items, a bit on the pricey side for a thrift store.
Quick, efficient, honest and great customer service. The people who work there are friendly and knowledgeable. I made more than I thought I would, (50% for store credit, 25% for cash) got some cute stuff in exchange AND benefited a woman’s charity. Definitely coming back. Remember to call and check to see what they are taking. Have it clean, pressed and no pilling or cat hair. Bring your own bag if you want to shop.
Needless to say, I have had a couple of interesting experiences both selling items to Buffalo as well as shopping. I came to Buffalo Exchange with a bag of contemporary and popular brands like Vanessa Virginia, Maeve, and Tiny from Anthropologie; Free People, and some new Forever 21 pieces with tags. Averaging estimated MSRP prices roughly $300. The female associate who was working was not friendly, had a stand-offish demeanor, and also seemed to have condescendingly looked at my clothing with sheer judgement. I get it, Buffalo Exchange is located near Greenville and close to SMU, so they have to specify clothing items to attract the demographics for customers in order to create revenue;they need garments that would sell. Albeit, the associate took one Free People dress and a top from Forever 21 out of my bag of clothing, only to be granted $40 in cash and $60- and-something in store credit. $40 was a low ball offer, but I took it as I left it since I needed the extra cash. Lo and behold, I went back the following week to shop - only to find my Free People dress on the racks being sold for 40% more than the offering price. I chuckled softly as I rummaged the racks of clothing, spotting simple Forever 21 pieces being sold for more than the suggested retail prices. If you want a unique piece that you are not able to find in the store and have little patience to scavenge for one, then I guess this place can be your pot of gold? But this store is pathetically reselling prices that are higher ( and keep in mind "gently used') than the prices you would purchase brand new at H&M or Forever 21. There are some unique vintage pieces, I'll give them that, but some of their items are suspiciously priced gouged that it denotes their credibility as a "vintage" and "thift" shop. Places like these are for SMU trust fund babies that would buy anything that is "vintage" because the shop promises "vintage" and are too seemingly privileged to shop at Goodwill or Thrift Giant (I found a lot of Free People dresses from Thrift Giant for less than $5). I would say it is better to buy your clothes when it is on sale than go here. Dillard's Clearance Center, Nordstrom Rack, and Poshmark would be the better option to find a bargain. I only give it another star because there is a really good coffee shop next door to them.
Brought in a bucket of clothes with my friend (who also had 2 containers with them). My friend went to look around while I waited for my turn and they then asked me to bring up my clothes but didn’t ask me my name or phone number. I assumed it was to clear up space in the isle but when the girl called for the next customer and I went up, the 2 boys (who were insulting our clothes) said they already went through my stuff and wouldn’t buy anything. My friend was then dead named when being called and they admitted to not even looking through one of the buckets. I have been trying to give this place a chance for a while now, but this experience shows that I should never come back, and that I am not even welcome to. They took my stuff and didn’t even go through it, my clothes are still folded in the bucket the way I had them, this is just sad. With this many 1 star reviews something needs to change or you’re going to eventually shut down. Staff is just rude and judgmental, might I also add they deadnamed my friend with me. So this isn’t even a safe space for anyone who isn’t straight. Please take some advice from these reviews and retrain your staff, or at least you could say hello when someone walks in. I didn’t come in near close by the way, I’d be a bit more understanding if they were closing in 10 minutes from the time I got there. It was just rudeness from the whole establishment.
IBad experience from some of the staff who look down on you if you go sell your clothes. Most of the staff are kids who feel entitled and/or blessed by a “fashion god” and think they are too good to work there. Management is the same…kids managing kids that like to play around and just be hiding or trying clothers or lowballing you on things you bring that they like so they can get it even cheaper. Not coming back and urge most to not go.
