Super crowded from 12 to 4 it seems like there is a never ending amount of customers in the store. The beer/wine aisle is lovely but usually only one cashier is open to check you out and most of the time the customers in this line have a cart full of grocery items to buy as well. Love the sushi counter! Cheap chicken Mondays sound (& smell) like a good deal but I have never tried. There is a coin star at this location which I have used before. The guard at the door is always pleasant !
More of a "boutique" market if comparing it to some of the larger Acme stores... My only complaint is parking. Prices are high enough... Don't need to add the additional expence of parking to my bill. UPDATE 2023 They have a pretty decent beer selection. Local and micro brews offered along with all the big guys. Prices are on par with the area. Reusable bags are .10 ea. Their store made chocolate chip cookies that use to be delicious have been hard and burnt the last few times I purchased them. UPDATE 2024 Reusable bags are now $1 ea.
Ugh. This place is so expensive and parking is a drag. Total pain to get validated -- in fact, the validation I was given last time didn't work. It has the awful self checkout that weighs everything and treats you like a thief, and is fully impractical for a big shop, but to they usually only have one full service line open. At their prices, they should be able to pay some actual employees. I like the little clearance section it offers, but otherwise do everything I can to avoid this place.
I’ve been to this acme a few times in the past and have had pretty pleasant experiences during all of my visits, store for the most part is very organized and neat. Would definitely come back again in the future.
It's in a good location. For being a smaller store they have used the space well to fit a good selection of products in.
For a grocery in Philly this is pretty decent. Much better than Fresh Grocer. This place does carry a lot of good stuff but they are kinda slow on the restocking and turn around. They always have long lines because there aren't enough cashiers and it can be crowded. I highly recommend coming here though as it is convenient and they have a parking garage attached. Parking is $15, but if you provide your receipt to the guest services you can get a voucher for $4 parking if your bill is over $30.
I go to ACME often, and I'm generally satisfied with the location. I've encountered some extremely helpful staff here, and some who would qualify for the "Philly" attitude label :-/ The store has lots of options for usual fair, I wouldn't necessarily go here for international food shopping (which I do a lot of), but I appreciate the convenience. They can deliver food, with available schedule-ahwad option, you can also have a picker do your shopping and pick it up in person. There is subsidized parking ($4) for ACME customers in the garage above the store. Also, check out the app - super helpful! It has a store mode that can help you find things in your trip. Things to improve: self checkout counters have indicator lights that are not reliable. The line needs more management. There is a restroom on the second floor (it was nice and clean the one time I used it) but it's a little puzzle you need to solve if you want to use it. Go to customer service and get a code. But that may also be why it's still clean - catch 22?
They had new vegan items we were looking for but the produce was poor. No a big selection of fruit to choose from and the store needs to b upgraded. IMO Parking should be free for customers like whole foods. It’s a popular area. Why not?!?!
This market replaced the former Fresh Grocer. I love it here. It's bright, spacious and the variety of food and deals you get is great. The meats and breads are always fresh. I love their meat deals; they have a section 4 for $20 where you can literally get 4 packs of meat for $20. I get my steak, pork chops, fresh shrimp, seasoned chicken etc., from here especially if you are on a budget until you do the REAL food shopping, this is perfect. They have a decent wine, cooler and beer section and they also have a Starbucks! The only drawback i would say about this place would be the self-checkout. There is some confusion about where the line ends and starts and whoever directs it doesn't always do a great job at making a distinction which can cause confusion and make you get in the long behind regular line, but hey, can't have it all.
Still the star of University City! Has everything for all ethnic groups and nationalities. Very organized and easy to shop. The meat, deli, and bakery departments are clean and neat. The store itself is clean and the cart attendant keeps the coral full for customers. Checkout (self or live) is fast and efficient. The only drawback from 5 stars is you have to wait sometimes up to 10 minutes for service at the Service Desk (I've timed it). The shelves are well stocked and associates are nearly everywhere for your satisfaction. The store director is always walking the store. She is very friendly. The store also has a groovy alcohol aisle that's well stocked. Prepared foods are a plus for quick stops. TIP: If you can avoid it, try not to go on the first of the month (first 3 week days) as it gets super busy and lines are long. There are three buses at the door with the 40th Street trolley portal 4 blocks away. Very convenient. Has an attached paid parking garage. On Street parking is premium and frustrating to find. Best time to shop is early morning weekdays. May the Holy Trinity bless you abundantly 🙏😇
