The original Starbucks at Pike Place Market is a true Seattle landmark and absolutely deserves five stars! Visiting feels like stepping into history, with its vintage design, original branding, and the unmistakable aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. It gets incredibly busy, and it’s not unusual to see a line stretching down the sidewalk. People from all over the world happily wait just for the chance to step inside, snap photos, and enjoy a cup of coffee from the very first store. The staff handles the rush with kindness and efficiency, keeping the energy upbeat and fun. While the line can be long, the experience is completely worth it—it’s more than just coffee, it’s being part of something iconic. If you’re in Seattle, visiting this Starbucks isn’t just about a drink—it’s about sharing in a piece of Seattle’s rich coffee culture and history.

It's a place I've always wanted to visit, so I was very happy to be able to come here! I had an iced lavender honey latte and a white chocolate mocha. Both were made with coffee beans that are only available at this store. They were delicious and I highly recommend them. They also had a wide selection of merchandise, and I bought a lot! This is definitely a place I'd like to come back to!

Visiting the original Starbucks at Pike Place Market was a fun experience and definitely worth checking it out. While there was a line to get inside (about 20 minutes), it moved fairly quickly, and the staff kept everything running efficiently. The historic storefront and the original "Coffee • Tea • Spices" branding give this location a unique charm that sets it apart from a typical Starbucks. It was neat to see where the company got its start and soak in a little coffee history. The drinks were prepared quickly and tasted just as expected, and the baristas were friendly despite the constant crowds. We also purchased their reserve roast whole bean coffee to take home. If you're visiting Pike Place Market, this is a must-stop for coffee lovers and anyone interested in Seattle's history. It's more about the experience than getting a cup of coffee, and we're glad we made the visit!

The Original Starbucks is one of those places many people feel they have to visit simply because of its history. Knowing that this is where Starbucks began adds a certain charm, especially if you’re a coffee enthusiast or enjoy visiting iconic landmarks during your travels. That said, it’s important to set realistic expectations. The store itself is relatively small, and aside from a few historic details and the original Starbucks logo, the overall experience is very similar to visiting any other Starbucks location. The menu is largely the same, and while you can find a few exclusive souvenirs, it’s not a completely unique coffee experience. Because of its popularity, it’s usually quite busy, with long lines both outside and inside the store. If you’re already exploring Pike Place Market, it’s definitely worth stopping by to appreciate a piece of coffee history, browse the merchandise, or grab a drink. However, I wouldn’t recommend making a special trip solely to visit this location. A helpful tip: visit early in the morning on a weekday if possible. The lines tend to be much shorter, making it easier to take photos of the original storefront and enjoy the visit without feeling rushed. Overall, I enjoyed visiting because of its historical significance rather than the experience itself. It’s an interesting stop that marks the beginning of one of the world’s most recognizable coffee brands, but beyond that, don’t expect it to be dramatically different from any other Starbucks. If you’re at Pike Place Market, it’s an easy and worthwhile stop—but the market itself is the real attraction.

I visited the Starbucks at 1912 Pine St which is known as the world’s first Starbucks opened in 1971. It is one of the most famous attractions around Pike Place. Even though the place was very busy, I found the staff to be really friendly and organized. They handled the crowd well and kept the line moving smoothly. I did have to wait around 30 minutes because it is always packed with visitors, but I still felt it was a cool experience to see such an iconic place.

You have to come here at least once. The original Starbucks at Pike Place is a bucket list stop for any coffee lover — small, characterful, and dripping in history. An iconic Seattle experience.

It's definitely an iconic place on its own, considering it's the first & original Starbucks that was established in 1971. With its original brown siren logo , this location is worth taking the trip. Be aware that the line can get long so waiting about 20-40mins may occur. I would suggest reloading your card ahead of time, the bears are $30 each, keychain about $8 & the ground coffee is $11, all rounded off if you're looking to collect them. Drinks are about the same price if not a few cents more, limited selection on the chalk board to keep the place moving at a decent pace with all the customers waiting. You can always pay card/cash, reloading inside will take a while, if you want that "in store order" receipt for proof.

Best Starbucks experience of all the stores we have been to! Special Reserve coffee is amazing and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had to wait in line to get a reservation time, but it only took about 10 minutes. Our barista let us put our caramel on our drink too! 🤩 Coming to the original store is a must if you are in Seattle!

Terrible experience. The line moves incredibly slowly because the staff spend 10–15 minutes chatting with customers instead of serving them. We booked in the morning time slot at 4pm, arrived exactly on time, waited in line to get in, and then had to stand in yet another line inside while the cashiers kept talking instead of helping the next customer. If you’re in Seattle, do yourself a favor and go to literally any other coffee shop. This place is much better to look at from the outside than to actually visit.

A must see if you are in the area and a Starbucks lover!! There were a couple cruise ships at port the day we went so the line up was very long couldn't even see where it ended and we unfortunately did not have the time to wait in line. We were able to come back later after they were closed which was neat to be able to take pictures with no one else around. Would have loved to be able to get a souvenir though, hopefully a shorter line next time!!
