Manager personally facilitated my self check out even though I has soap from the secured area. I appreciate that the store is stocked with a little of everything since I can go there after work- equidistant to the other grocery on Burnside. They DO keep you from taking the cart outside but the heavy population panhandling just outside the doors explains the security. I wish they had longer hours but no one does, anymore.

One of the employees, Cindy, was very helpful and kind. I have a bad back and she literally ran over to help me pick up an item I had dropped and was struggling to pick it up. She offered to get someone to help me shop, but I declined. The store was clean, but does have a funky smell in places. The prices are Okay. Safeway has some good sales in the weekly ads. You do have to have their app and select the coupon which is a pain for some of the discounts. I would drop one star because app but their customer service through Cindy I like to give the 6 stars so I guess I keep it at 5 stars. It is a smaller store which is good for not having to walk so far but still have a great selection of items.

If your ideal evening involves a live show—specifically one featuring ignorance fueled by weaponized insecurity and the spectacle of bullies picking on the defenseless—then you've found your Broadway: the shopping floor of the Jefferson Safeway. As you navigate the aisles, you'll be treated to the high drama of armed security guards dedicating their lives to a single purpose: subduing anyone who looks unhoused. The irony is exquisite: you could load unpurchased items into a hiking pack right in front of them, provided you don't commit the cardinal sin of looking poor. I’ve personally witnessed the security staff target and accuse seven people based solely on their appearance. The interactions are conducted at maximum volume, ensuring every other customer is brought in as an audience for the public humiliation. And yet, in all except for two of those circumstances, they failed to find any stolen goods. Not a single candy bar. You might assume an apology follows such a gross professional error. But that, dear reader, is what separates “Top Flight Security” from the rest of us schmoes. Instead of admitting a mistake, here is their four-star recovery plan: They issue a lifetime ban from Safeway. They deliver a final, perfect insult: a casual dismissal that the accused probably did steal something—the guards just couldn’t be bothered to find it. These men remind me of a certain Eric Cartman Hall Monitor—hiding their deep-seated lack of courage behind a cheap uniform and a radio. They obviously couldn't manage the grueling physical entry requirements for real police work (the legendary 30 push-ups, 30 sit-ups, and the 1\frac{1}{2} mile jog), so they settle for terrorizing the defenseless with their little bit of retail theater. Safeway used to be a point of pride; my grandfather retired from the company as a butcher. Now, it's just a soulless corporation—a fact that makes taking my business elsewhere the easiest decision I'll ever make.

For me, Safeway is the place to do some serious shopping. The produce department is always clean, stocked and fresh. The meat and bakery departments are top notch as well. Although more often than not, Safeway is a very busy place and caters to very diverse groups of people. The staff is helpful and the security officers are very friendly. Overall, You can trust Safeway for all your grocery and pharmacy needs. I proudly give Safeway 4 stars.

There was a lot of people in the store and I don't understand why my OTC card was not working today at Safeway because I was trying to buy cheese and milk and yogurt for me to eat on so now I have to call them to figure out what is going on with my card and why I can't buy anything from the store

I just watched an employee kicked out a black person who asked me to cover their Popsicles because they hadn't eaten. And before you come for them they were the outshine ones, which is a good option when your stomach hurts from hunger. Poor poeple deserve good food too. Its a 3$ box of Popsicles that was unusually cruel. Do you know how often I had seen poeple ask for a dollar or two while working for safeway and it was never a problem nor was I told to kick out a customer out over it, thats litterally a social norm. From what i understand thats not apart of their policy and she was just racist.

I come here to get money orders and shop at the same time. 9/10 times your desk is closed during business hours. No one at lunch and almost 7 employees working in floral… When I managed a Safeway there was absolutely NO WAY that desk could ever be closed, not until 9 pm…I used to have to run the check stand, self checkout, and the desk with the staffing they gave me downtown. What is the reasoning you NEVER have coverage at the desk? Anyways, never shopping here again. I’m embarrassed for this location as a previous manager of grocery stores… Gonna drive across town to get my money order elsewhere. DO BETTER! The crappy location doesn’t give you the excuse to just say,” Well, it is what it is…”

In the middle of N,E, downtown Portland. It looked like a apartment building at first. I laughed. We bought my son's B-Day cake from here. Safeway is Safeway everywhere that I have been.
