Not as bad as the Lovejoy one, but the same exorbitant prices. You need to coupon everything to make it competitive price wise. Security harass houseless people and shoppers alike, but have chilled out since the SNAP benefits fiasco was resolved.
Quirky annoyance in the middle of the store trying to walk to certain aisles. Otherwise, items priced like every other grocery store. If you're looking for good generic brands with extreme cheap prices and you have access to an Amazon Prime account, I suggest checking Amazon Fresh and looking at the Amazon Saver and Amazon Grocery brands - Amazon takes EBT as well.
Worst customer service ever! Makes me never want to shop another safeway again. Asked for help finding items as a doordasher. Was told "I'm not gonna help you do your job!" Really!? I would give zero stars if I could.
The first time I walked into this store, it smelled very bad. We don't use shop her often even tho it's 2 blocks from us. We rather go to Stadium Fred Meyer it's about 10 min. drive and 30 min walk. Last We went to grabe something for dinner. We got a freezer dinner meal price in front of it, and it said 7.99 for quick sale. It rang up at 14.99, and the clerk said it's a smaller size, asked if someone can go get the smaller one and the clerk no as my wife went to get it she took a picture of the shelf the clerk had another employee take the original dinner meal we had. Lol, no one could go get the right one, but they can go a return stuff. Make that make sense. So Glade was moving from Down Town portland, and never will I shop at this location again.
When you think of the city of Portland—not the idealized version of pre-pandemic Portland—no, the current city of Portland, a few unsavory realities likely come to mind. Portland is smelly, it's dirty, it's overpriced, its roads are small and a little inconvenient to navigate (ayo, I'll take these small roads any day for more bike lanes, numerous bus stops, the robust streetcar access) and inflation and soaring rent prices have made it difficult for many folks to maintain or find a home. But hey, at least the people who live-live here are friendly and quirky; plus, Portland is your neighborhood, so of course you're here. This downtown Safeway is a reflection and microcosm of the current state of the city of Portland. There's another Safeway up the road (in NW area). Truly only come here because of the convenience of the location as your neighborhood Safeway. Actually, keep coming here because it's very convenient to have.
Whenever I walk in the store they confidently announce: “security all isles”. I’ve decided to actually steel something next time I go. It’ll be like double jeopardy. It’s horribly embarrassing when they announce that so the whole store & parking lot can hear.
This Safeway is there any bad area but the staff that work at this Safeway are tremendously polite it will help you with your every need the bakery section in Superior to any the meat section Superior the produce section stock well taken care of overall five thumbs up great job people thank you for your uncanny work ethics
I know that they already have awful security and that there's so many complaints about them. For years I've seen thier security and employees treat people horribly. But the security standing around just laughing at people as they shop and check out makes it really uncomfortable and not something that makes me stay as a customer I rushed through my transactions to get away because then standing together laughing at people (me?) was so uncomfortable
They're always short staffed that always really mean to the customers I've never been to Safeway and been treated like this before it's only a block away from me so that's where I have to go
Hate leaving bad reviews. Deli expereince today was very bad. Poorly trained and overworked staff. Big line and got charged 14.99 for my dark meat 8 peice when the menu said 9.99. Tried to explain that to the clerk, I thought he understood and then printed out the same sticker! Went to customer service to see if they could help but they were away from the desk at 5pm!? Idk man ... People behind the counter not helping him at all, and left the guy to the wolves during the rush. Poor teamwork of you ask me.
