Hhhmm.... this store tries SOOOOOOOOO hard & ITS NOT the employees fault AT ALL!! I intensely dislike going to this store now & really only go when I have to... I'm in a wheelchair and I'm constantly having to watch my back and all around me to make sure I'm safe. I had my phone stolen from my pocket while I was in line there. THANKS BE TO GOD!!! the thief actually dropped my phone off at customer service. I NEVER go in there alone anymore...
Very convenient Safeway. Both times I visited this week I found a parking spot outside front door via Parking Kitty. Cash you can use, but also debit/credit card accepted. There is also garage parking. There is Starbucks inside. They have security there too, which makes sense as it is a very busy store. Lots of people going in and out. This is the Safeway in Portland on Jefferson Street, about 6-10 blocks away from Powell's Bookstore.
Regrettably, the only grocery store within walking distance. If there was a Winco I could walk to, but to enter I needed to get smacked in the face, I’d still go there instead.
I do not recommend going to this location unless you have to. Especially if you're not pressed for time. There is never any checkout lanes open except for in the walled off area, which means the self checkout can get quite a long line. Which becomes less of a convenience when there are people with wagons full of food and you have only, say, a bag of chips and some bananas. Highly inefficient and unpleasant for all.
Love Safeway .always stocked items,wide isles for ease of shopping,friendly staff members and last but not least ,always clean...
Well, now this location requires you to leave your backpack in a pile with other backpacks about 4 feet from the door. I'm imaging security would do nothing to stop someone from stealing it. I don't like leaving bad reviews for businesses in our strugling downtown but in addition to Safeway and Kroger still trying to merge? Unacceptable business practices.
DO NOT BUY GIFTCARDS HERE. THEY SOLD A GIFTCARD THAT WAS TAMPERED WITH AND WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING (their investigation said it was a "Void Transaction" issue but the retailer said that it was used TWICE on the day I added to my eWallet, and frankly neither parties would do anything about the fact that basically a tampered giftcard was sold. My Christmas and first weeks of January have basically been badly affected by this). THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. DO NOT BUY GIFTCARDS HERE (or anything else because the trust is gone). I would also give zero stars but Google would not let me.
If yall don’t want to clean the bathrooms call biohazard. It’s a measure that your mega corporation puts in place for you. Get that bathroom clean
Smaller than most newer Safeways but still good selection. Area is a little rough but no security or safety concerns.
Got harassed by employee who accused me of grabbing something when I had put it back in the freezer and showed him where I put it, he still kicked me out when I was just trying to buy dinner. He was extremely rude about it, uncalled for.
