Half the time, the bottom drop is closed. It takes over a week for me to get my money from them. When I go into being the tickets they make me go to a specific register, so I can cash my tickets and wait in line after waiting over a week for my bottle. Deposit money bottle drop is a scam.

As a young woman living alone I have never felt more unsafe in this neighborhood than going to this Safeway location…. It’s the closest affordable grocery option that I can actually access without a 30-45 minute bus ride, but even still, several times now I have walked by, taken a peak at how big the crowd is at the entrance, and decided to put off getting groceries that day. There are frequently 4 to 10 sketchy people loitering at the only entrance/exit to this location. Security is present but doesn’t seem to actually do anything to disperse the crowd. I don’t understand what it is about this Safeway that makes it a hub for that kind of activity, but it certainly seems like nothing is being done to discourage it now that it’s there.

It is a good shop for buying groceries

I've been visiting this Safeway since I moved downtown, and in the past 2 months, I discovered a fav. HOT SALSA homemade in the kitchen of this store. For $4 I was amazed at the quality, the courage to be hot and the price. I've bought homemade salsa at twice the price that wasn't half as good. This was a real find -- check the produce section, where the sliced fruit is stored.

Worst shopping experience I’ve had in years. Just an ordinary guy who wanted to buy some juice and use the restroom and what I got — I should’ve known based on it being downtown — was a bathroom that was so disgusting it was basically a health hazard, an angry old man who couldn’t wait 5 minutes and knocked on the bathroom door loudly and rudely, and a homeless/likely drug-addled fellow who insulted and swore at me. And then I was made to feel like some of this was my fault. I mean, my God, Portland usually has pretty polite people but this was a 10-minute nightmare. And then the manager initially started to blame me asking how I got in the restroom — I’m well-dressed and promised to make a purchase, which I did, but will likely never do again at this store. The only positive experience was the initial one of prompt customer service from a kind employee there who opened the restroom and seemed to have her stuff down. Oh, and because of the passive-aggressive vibe of people in this city, I feel singled out for a very legitimate complaint. What a backward situation. Clean up your act, Safeway. UPDATE: I have reported the restroom situation to OSHA. A manager can respond to my review if they wish.

it's a pretty standard safeway BUT i saw the security guards do a HORRIBLE thing. there was someone outside struggling with a mental health episode and the security guards were outside laughing at him while filmimg him. what a demonic and evil thing to do to someone going through a crisis.

This location has the worst customer service I've ever seen in my life! Some of the children that they have working self-checkout are very rude. If customer service isn't their thing then maybe they should pick up a mop instead! I'm tired of being treated like I'm a hassle when I come in to do my weekly shopping. The attendant actually rolled his eyes at me when I requested help at the register tonight. Then he actually snatches the item out of my hand that I want to voided off my bill. I'll do my shopping elsewhere for now on!

I have been shopping here off and on for several years. Well today Cindy who I think is a new employee was so delightful. She was so helpful and knowledgeable. Her attitude kind of made my day. I will be shopping only here for now on.

I always seem to see so much activity going on when I pass by here. The location is downtown so that is fairly likely. However, I always see at least one or two people no matter what day or when either heckling the passersby or ignoring the guards to please refrain from bothering others. I was followed around the block but the same guy twice after he asked me for a cigarette to which I don't smoke cigarettes, I vape, so I don't need a lighter or to spread germs. Easiest way to avoid it at all. But the same guy asks me again after I forgot to grab something as if he doesn't even notice what he's saying or doing or what time of day it was. I always get the vibe someone's slinging or folks down there may it may not even be customers are bothering the place. I feel bad because the staff can't do much about it they've tried some people just don't get the hint. I always keep to myself as much as possible and try to get in and out as fast as I can. Three stars for the security I always seen busting people it all goes to them for that boss hustle in that area. Props for that.

Staff is always really nice, especially considering how challenging the neighborhood can be sometimes
