Once Upon A Child - Universal City

Received a text at 5:01 to pick up my items that were reviewed at the store. I showed up at the door at 5:04. The door was locked and the group of employees just stared at me laughing mouthing “we’re closed.” I walked away confused. As soon as I walked away, one of them unlocked the door to retrieve a shopping cart. I yelled “excuse me” several times as she purposely looked away and sheepishly pulled the shopping card indoors. Poor customer service from immature employees. Edit: Emailed store owner after the incident. I received an email and a Facebook message within 15 minutes of posting. She apologized emphatically and promised to address the incident the next day. The store manager and the employee from incident also offered their apologies. I appreciate the swiftness in which the incident was resolved and the attention the owner and manager gave to my complaint. Review upgraded to 4 stars for addressing customer concerns.

The store is usually clean and the people nice, but it is so disappointing when they do not do their jobs. I can't remember to do their jobs for them. And even when it was their mistake they offered no help. I'm very disappointed in my last couple visits here. Very sad. I usually spend a ton of money here, but these last couple visits make me not want to give them my buisness. I understand mistakes happen. I am more frustrated that they were unwilling to do anything about it.

I am highly upset and will never go back!! The store’s policy changes and none of that was explained properly when I dropped of items to sell to the store. I was asked to input my info to a new “automated” system and told I would be contacted. 6 days go by without being contacted, so go back into the store and was told that the new policy is that if you are not back in the store the same day you drop your items off, you will only receive store credit and that I was “lucky” my bin and credit were still available. We picked some items out because as angry as I am with this whole situation, I’m NOT just giving them all of my daughters clothes. Upon checking out, I was told the 15% off coupon I was given when originally dropping off clothes was no longer valid because it had to be used prior to being “cashed out”, which they did without telling me. Store manager/owner: please, please explain to your employees the importance of communicating new store policies to customers and not hurrying through the explanation just because it’s the 85th time you’ve done it for the day. Better yet, a quick reference print out and/or an email when dropping items off may have been helpful in avoiding this whole miscommunication and retaining a repeat customer. I will not be back to your store, and a hope you take this back to your employees and use this as a teaching moment.

So much to look at! The place is humongous, the prices reasonable and friendly staff. I wish this was around when my boys were small. I could have saved lots of money. Sadly I only went in to sell back the last of the boy's jeans. I made a good amount of money as well. If you young ones to shop for, hit this first. You won't be disappointed.

I used to like shopping here until I tried to sell my items back. I take very good care of my clothes (clean, smoke, pet free, and all name brand). Most everything I bought for my infant daughter I got from there. I tried to sell it back less than three months of buying it and now they will not take it. The girls are very rude. They have main stream music playing ( which I find okay) but the girls were losing singing to the music. Even the cuss words which is very unprofessional. Will not return. Ever.

I have been to this location about 5 times and always find what I am looking for in great condition. But every experience I've had with the staff has been dreadful. They are super rude in person and over the phone. They seem to hate their jobs and act like it's a burden if you ask for help. I'm never a customer that is the type to complain, as this is my first ever review on anything. I'd suggest a retraining of the staff on customer service skills since the majority of the staff has a big issue of making the customer feel welcome. I'm considering going to other locations instead even though this one is the closest to me. I only put two stars because the store itself is great.

This place is very picky in what they buy. They sent back multiple items because they were “missing” things which they weren’t. They sell strollers missing the handle bar all the time but yet sent mine back for not having the bar.. There were stand alone baby shorts and jeans that were sent back because they didn’t have tops. Even though they were never sets to begin with. PJs were sent back for missing pieces. Don’t know how that’s possible because it’s a one piece. I been to a lot of once upon a child stores and none of them were as picky with rules like this one.

This is my favorite OUAC location to shop!! Its cleaner & seems more roomier. I can never find a great pair of toddler boy shoes, but seeing what my boys do to their shoes - I don't blame them for not having a big selection. LOL. Most of the ladies are super sweet & have friendly, ready to help attitudes; I've encountered a couple not-so-kind but the sweet ones outweigh the ones that aren't. Great place to sell also!

Update: Their email doesn’t work. So, there was no confusion on my end. The sign said 10 for 10 on the bodysuits(Didn’t specify clearance/not clearance.) There was a huge rack of body suits. So I proceeded to pick out 10. And when I got to the register the lady told me to pick out 7 more onesies because only the none clearance onesies were 10 for 10.(I had three regular priced and 7 clearance)I said well there’s a sign that says otherwise, so she told her co worker to go take it down and didn’t honor the sale the sign had said. She was very rude, didn’t greet anyone or have any customer service skills. Terrible customer service and misleading signs.

***BUYERS BEWARE!!!*** Called the store ahead of time to see if they were accepting clothes and they said yes. I live far from the store and when I arrived with the clothes they denied them saying they needed to be in a certain container. They did not mention this on the phone. Plus they had quite a few containers behind the counter. They looked at me as though I should have known this and walked away. Horrible customers service. I was willing to give this company a try after reading so many horrible reviews. CLOTHES ARE WAY OVER PRICED!!!
