Once Upon A Child - Cordova

Love this store! We are shopping for our first child and i loved the selection of clothing they had. I know alot of people complain that they feel ripped off when they go in to sell their items to them, but I don't think people realize how thrift shops work. You don't get back the value of your clothing, or else how is this place suppose to make money. They are a sister company of platos closet so dont be shocked that you didn't get over $20 for all your items. Other than that this place is awesome. I only just wish they kept the front of the store near the front door a little more clean. We had trouble getting in the door last time we were there and I almost tripped over several toys and I'm 6 months pregnant, so that was pretty scary.

I dropped off items for review on June 15th at 12pm, received a text saying my items would be ready for pick up by 515. Never received a text so I called on June 16th at 130 to check and was told my items still had not been reviewed and probably would not be reviewed till the next day. So I had to retrieve my items because I will not be in town at the time for pickup which has to be within 24 hrs of receiving notifications.

at 9am I went there to bring in clothing. once I got there at 630pm they handed me my bag and I ask how much they I get from my clothing they said 8.00. I said they you even look at my clothes because I have new clothes in there that new not used. then I took out the clothes to showed them . while I was doing there job I end up get 39.00$ back. the manager had a bad attitude. they need to work better with people and be happy

Went to the store today for the new years eve sale.. my 5 year old needed to use the restroom and the workers stated how their restrooms were closed. My 5 year old began to cry and almost have an accident on herself. We had to leave the location to go to the mc.Donald’s then come back to purchase our items. I don’t understand being a children’s store and not having restrooms open for children? I am sure the workers do not go without using a restroom.

We visit this shop almost every time we are in the area and have bought a wide range of baby items here—shoes, toys, clothes, baby equipment, etc. One time I went there looking for a pack-n-go type of bed for my grandson but they didn’t have the one I was looking for so I bought a new one at Target. The very next month they did have the exact same thing I had bought in excellent condition for less than half what I paid so it’s a good idea to check back if they don’t have what you are looking for. You can find clothes NWT and many good quality name brands in great shape especially in the smaller sizes. They have a big selection of shoes but you have to search through bins for them and they are not discounted as much as the clothes. You can sign up for their rewards program to get coupons & deals every month by text if you’re gonna be a frequent shopper of the store, too. Now as far as selling items to them goes, you probably won’t get as much as you’d expect and some things they just refuse. I’m sure there is some sort of set procedures they follow for buying but it made no sense to me so I’ll just stick with buying and save my stuff for a yard sale.

I totally agree with most of the reviews regarding customer service. It is truly piss poor. No one greets you or really even speaks to you. They went on about what they were doing & talking amongst themselves. Never offered to help me which it was my 1st time in the store. If it werent for the customer ahead of me I wouldnt have even known what to do. Once I was done sigining in on the little screen, a lady runs over throws a receipt at me and says they will text me when they are done. I didnt get that text until the store was already closed for the night. They close at 8pm. I got a text about 940pm. Which baffled me cause I assumed I would get the text early enough to still come back same day. Customer service definitely needs to be improved.

Love this place! Took my 5 yr old daughter to pick out a pre-k graduation dress and shoes but we also found some extras without blowing a budget. Before you buy new from a politically aligned big box store, shop here! Gently used and even sometimes brand new clothes, shoes, etc. Locally owned!

I would give them a zero if it were possible because I have sold them a lot of nice items and did get cheated because they said that my items did not fit the criteria, and they gave me so little for a whole bag of new baby clothes that I had washed and dried before I took them in the store. Stay away! Complete rip off, and horrible customer service, they take in a lot and do not want to pay . I got 10 dollars for a garbage bag that was filled with name brand baby clothing.

This store is amazing! The prices are cheap and you can find some name brand clothes that are in great shape. I found a pair of Levi jeans that still had the tag on. I also got an exersaucer here for cheap. The ladies there were nice to get it for me and take it out to my car. I'll definitely be going here a lot.

I'm not sure exactly who this company caters to. I don't believe they are biased to one particular race of people, I think in general, they are terrible with customer service ESPECIALLY to those bringing their own possessions for the store to profit from. If I wanted to simply donate $150 worth of clothes, I would have given them to a child in need or even to the Goodwill rather than this scam of a business. I'm clearly not the only person who has experienced this problem with once upon a child. I too dropped off a HUGE bag full of very nice clothes and was told that they would call once they sorted through everything and their "system" generated a price on all the items. Waited and waited for the phone call. I Called the next day and got no answer. I Called the following Monday, no answer. I Called that Friday and finally spoke to an employee and was told that they notated on our receipt that we were called and a voicemail was left. NOT!!! NO missed call and NO voicemail! I don't understand how this policy has kept them in business. So now, I am entitled to a $24 store credit and whatever they decided they couldn't use on their sales floor was just "discarded". Like I said, I know the clothes were worth well more than that. One other thing, I live about 40 min away from their store so for me to just make a trip out there not knowing if they had a chance to go through my bag yet is out of the question. There were probably 20 bags behind the counter waiting to be gone through so I assumed it would take a while before they got to mine. Lesson learned and hopefully this will prevent others from making the same mistake. Wish I would have read these reviews before going to this store.
