Merchant's Cafe and Saloon

I love going to the historic places like this. The basement had great ambiance and felt like a classic old lounge. I was ready to see a ghost. ;) The only thing I wish was that they would have stayed open later. They were closing down around 12am on a Friday. My group met me there but they wouldn't be served so we left. I'd still go back. Just earlier!

The type of bar/bartenders that if you come in a few times, they’ll remember you. Austin has great recommendations, great vibe. Jose is hilarious and his hospitality is awesome. Anthony is super chill and will make sure everyone is taken care of. Great place to start for the weekend, and a lot of history to this bar as well! Love the merchants crew. Thanks for all the great weekends!

The bar got ROCKED on a Tuesday, the pub was not prepared, but Austin was! Austin was by himself, and he was FANTASTIC! He was quick, accurate, friendly, and had a great attitude even though he was overextended, being the only bartender for a packed bar.. Great service, great bartender, who did a phenomenal job!! Adorable pub in pioneer square, must stop in to enjoy a drink from an absolute star in the industry, and a staple of the city. Austin was top notch! Absolute all star, will be back for his charm and polished service!

It's a dive bar. It's historic but also a bit dumpy and worn. Bartender was friendly enough. Cheese curds were okay but way overpriced for what we got. The wings were tiny, sad little things. The buffalo sauce was just Franks and the lemon pepper had no flavor at all. I like my dive bars to be cheap; that's the primary appeal. This place is not.

In my short time in Seattle, I have been exploring the city. I made my way down to Pioneer Square to check-out another old-time Washington restaurant/bar/saloon. For lunch, I stopped in the Merchant’s Café and Saloon, established in 1890. I started with a shot of whiskey. I rarely drink whiskey but thought it appropriate in an old saloon. I asked the cook “what would you eat on your break?” He said, “chicken wings” and listed the sauces. He offered to combine the BBQ and Honey sauces which I gladly accepted. The wings were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The sauce was fantastic. The service was awesome as was the beautiful old Seattle saloon.

Best oysters in Seattle. Jeremy is hands down the greatest to ever tend bar. A+ for service and ambiance

Went to this place after the Bill Speidel Underground Tour. Michael, our bartender, was so kind and conscientious. Service was great! Had the chicken tenders and they were delicious! I’d recommend Michael and this establishment to everyone. Can’t wait to return on the next trip back to Seattle!

I go here for a meetup in their basement. They are very accommodating. It's a good space for meetups. I like the vibe. Bartender is friendly. Beverage selection is OK. Haven't ordered proper food here. Their restrooms need repair.

Bartender unfortunately not very friendly nor attentive. The "sandwich/panini" was 15 $ but not worth it. The atmosphere (also the bar downstairs) is nice. Anyway that doesn't make up for this experience :(
