Amazing job! As a long-time customer, I was already expecting great work on my coat buttons and hem, but the team went over the top with a special request. I needed a button added to a dress shirt but didn't have the original. Jess went above and beyond, searching for days to find an exact match and fitting it perfectly. The shirt looks brand new. I really appreciate the attention to detail—I’ll be back soon!

Jess, as the third generation owner, is making operations customer friendly while preserving the original trade of bespoke tailoring in the heart of Chinatown. Jess’s customer service goes beyond tailoring, she treats everyone with the same patience and respect when customers come in for all different kinds of tailoring. I placed a bespoke qi pao order with LNC Tailor Shop. Jess walked me through the process of choosing styles, fabric and thread with so much kindness, patience and expertise. Jess even sourced Ralph Lauren satin and charmeuse silk—high quality fabrics for my piece, i can’t wait for the finished product.

Extremely organized and communicative. They were undergoing renovations at the 199 location for a minute, but still managed to get things done in a timely manner during Christmas and New Years. When they know a big holiday/event is coming up, they will finish your order ahead of schedule without you asking. They hemmed my YSL dress on the same day on Christmas Eve and then re did my entire Rick Owens (with lots of sequins, ruffles, open slit and zipper) right after New Year’s. They literally made a new skirt from size 0 to a 6. Next, they finished a hand embroidered project in 3 days also right after New Years :) Beautiful beautiful work

Jess is here for the long-run and reviving the industry as we speak. As many tailors are already 60 yo+, Jess is cultivating the next generation of tailors by taking interns. Her interns are polite and quick-witted so they definitely help the line go faster. Interns/Jess are front of the house; alterations are still handled by Jess & experienced tailors in the back of the house. Wedding season means longer pick up times unless Jess stays after closing to rush an order, but Jess still personally hand writes your pick up date and time in caps on top of your receipt so there’s no confusion. Make sure you read your ticket before calling to ask what your pick up date is :)

Exceeds my expectations every time. Been here 3x in the last 3 months for tailoring. Very communicative. A fun experience in general just to watch them do their fittings for all customers: some humor in the process and lots of experience and professionalism. And, let’s not forget affordable for the quality of work they do and the customer experience they give you

Jess is the real deal. With her label set to launch at New York Fashion Week, she brings a strong command of tailoring and a thoughtful, professional approach to both her team and her clients. If you come to her after a disappointing experience elsewhere, she takes a measured and honest view, gives credit where it’s warranted, and addresses what was left unresolved. That level of judgment and professionalism is not easy to find. I’ll be entrusting her with all of my designer pieces going forward.

I’ll preface this by saying I’ve been to a lot of the “often recommended” tailors in NYC - the guys on Orchard Street and the ladies in Chinatown mall basements. Years of bad experiences, botched garments, and headache led me to find LNC and Jess. What I appreciate most about Jess was her eye for design + her experience with clothing construction + her ability to translate the “garment vibes” I shared into “how should we actually make this possible.” This combination is rare, but so valuable in quality tailoring. Most recently, I had a bunch of wedding weekend looks that needed a variety of alterations: one was a dress that was large AND long, and I wanted alterations from the top which required removing the zipper, tucking in / slimming the seams, removing excess length, then re-adding the zipper. Another was a custom dress that was tight but ill-fitting around the shoulders - Jess explained how this would be altered and assuaged my fears that I’d bust out of it. Since finding LNC, I’ve taken all my alterations to Jess (wedding looks as well as everyday pants) and been happy with the results. She’s also straight with you - if you’re asking for something to be altered in a way that could make it look worse, she’ll tell you so you can decide on aesthetic. If you want an alteration that’s pricey, she’ll tell you so you can decide if it’s worth the investment. Recommend!

LNC is the best! They hemmed my hiking pants for me last minute before my trip. The pants had stripes on the side panel, were stretchy, and required a blind stitch. Jess also made custom safety whistles for female clients and since she knew I was hiking with my girlfriends in Grand Canyon for the weekend, she told me to take a couple so we all have one in the middle of the desert!

They turned my long maxi slip dress into a 2 piece skirt set (think reformation, 90s calvin klein style) it was tricky because it had a zipper. For my pick up, they had their own shoes ready and Jess gave me her jacket ready so I can match my outfit!! They are a neighborhood gem, can’t wait to wear my custom piece at Coachella :)

Actually I give them ZERO STARS ☆☆☆☆☆ I had a very disappointing experience at LNC Tailor Shop on Canal Street. I brought in five pairs of dress pants to have the waistlines let out and one sports jacket to shorten the sleeves. When I first arrived, I was genuinely excited to get my clothes tailored properly. The owner, Jess, mentioned she had two interns in training and asked if I’d let them handle the measurements under her supervision. As a first-time customer, I didn’t want to seem difficult, so I agreed. The measurement process dragged on far too long because the interns kept asking Jess to recheck their work. She had to correct and remeasure multiple times, explaining things to them as they went. It became clear that this was part training session, part tailoring appointment — not what I signed up for. After all that, Jess drew up the estimate and explained the extra charges. She required half the total in cash upfront, which I wasn’t aware of beforehand. So I gave the $85.00 I had on me and was told everything would be ready in seven days. A few days had gone by and I got a message saying one of their tailors had a family emergency and asked me to come a week later. I completely understood and I agreed to wait. Two weeks later, I show up at 5 p.m. as instructed — only to be told the work wasn’t finished and to come back in two hours. When I returned at 7 p.m., Jess said only two pairs of pants were done and if I could wait another 1/2 hour the jacket would be done. I agreed to wait for the jacket. Jess told me that the other three pairs of pants couldn’t be altered without adding extensions to the waistline. So after two full weeks, nobody had even assessed all my garments properly until the day I was supposed to pick them up? That’s beyond frustrating and totally unprofessional. I paid for the three finished items and I left with the other 3 pairs of pants untouched. That’s not how you run a business. There are hundreds of tailors in New York City — do yourself a favor and go to literally any of them instead of LNC Tailor Shop. I will not be returning!
