My husband and I spent our Anniversary at the InterContinental San Diego, and we had a blast. First, we were greeted by the bellman, Tony, who was very pleasant. Upon checking in, Maria, who is the best, checked us in to our room. Maria's level of service goes beyond just doing her job. You can tell that she truly cares about her customers. She's officially one of my favorite people. I can't forget the restaurant staff, the Manager Ryan, who took the time to talk with me and my husband, and Mia, the server who made sure we were taken care of. Last but not least, Michael the Concierge was just a joy to speak to. He helped me find some shopping areas to go shopping. I just enjoyed talking to Michael about life, and we just laughed and laughed. I thank you all for making our Anniversary special. May God bless you all and your families. In Jesus' Name:) Amen!
On Christmas Day (12/25/2025) around 4:05 PM, I reported an issue to the front desk agent Karina after checking into room 605. There was a leftover drink from the previous guest placed in front of our door, which clearly showed the room had not been properly clean. Instead of apologizing or showing concern, Karina responded by saying: “You can cancel your reservation and I can waive the penalty fee for you.” I was SHOCKED by this response. On Christmas Day, where are guests supposed to stay if they cancel their reservation without another booking? This is not hospitality, especially for an issue that should never happen in the first place. To make matters worse, I had to call housekeeping more than three times just to receive facial tissue and other requested items, which was already empty when we checked in. I reported these issues to Karina as well, yet she showed no apology, empathy, or effort to improve our experience. I requested to speak with a manager, and Destiny handled the situation much more professionally. She apologized sincerely, showed genuine customer service, and even offered to move us to another room, which we declined because we decided to stay in the original room. Destiny’s attitude was respectful and caring, and she clearly understood the issue. Unfortunately, Karina’s dismissive and arrogant attitude overshadowed the experience. A front desk agent should never place the burden on the guest for a hotel’s failure to properly prepare a room. Because of this experience, I will avoid InterContinental hotels in the future. This stay did not reflect a 4.5-star property and felt closer to a 2-star experience. A very disappointing way to spend Christmas Day.
Overall stay was great, nice room and good location. This review is for one particular front desk Staff - Lov: I called in two days after my checkout date as I didn’t receive any invoice/receipt of my stay and wanted to request a copy. Lov pulled up my reservation based on my name and room number then asked for my credit card info for “privacy” purposes. I told her the number and she said it was wrong and wouldn’t proceed, even that I had the reservation charges billed on the credit card already. I asked if she could verify in other ways and she rejected and insisted that she couldn’t provide me any details because my credit card number was wrong, which was untrue because I was literally staring at this reservation charge on my credit card and its number while talking to her and repeated the number four times. After the frustrating conversation with Lov which wasn’t going anywhere, I requested to speak with a different staff and she said all were busy and nobody could assist. Then she hung up. I stayed at this hotel for four days and got billed for the stay, and only to call and request a receipt, and got rude and completely unprofessional treatment from this lovely Ms.”Lov”. The ridiculous part is, after Lov hung up on me, I called in later again and someone else at the front desk verified my info with no issue and requested my receipt to be sent to my email. Overall, stay was nice and other staff were nice except this terrible experience talking front desk woman Lov who was the worst front desk I have ever experienced.
Throughout all of my travels as a Federal Contractor, I have never stayed at a hotel as Excellent as this hotel. From the very first time I walked in with my work colleague, we were treated by everyone like we were royalty. Maria, at the Front Desk, has such a professional and sweet personality and made me feel immediately at home. Mike and his staff that runs the Lounge did a fantastic job. All of the food was great! The manager, Destiny, has a great personality as well and she shows that she truly cares about us having a great experience on our stay. I also really enjoyed the fitness center. I would say it is the best one I have been to at any hotel I have stayed at in the U.S. This hotel is my #1 choice to stay at any of my future trips in the area.
Great location and beautiful views! I’ve stayed at this hotel a few times, and it never disappoints. My only suggestion would be to offer more options at the breakfast buffet.
Stayed at InterContinental San Diego from 24–26 December. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The TV did not work properly, the coffee machine was faulty, and the table in the room was dusty, which raised concerns about cleanliness. Worst of all, my $300 deposit paid at check-in was not automatically refunded despite checking out normally and following up several times. The response from the hotel was unsatisfactory. Only received my deposit because the 30 day hold expired. Never staying here again.
This hotel is VERY dog friendly, in the sense that everyone was truly welcoming of our two pups so they get 5 stars out of the gate. Checkin was great and our room on the 14th floor was clean, comfortable with a great view. Location is excellent and walkable to so much. Fantastic grass area for pups on the west side of hotel/harbor side. We had three wonderful nights here, all the staff we encountered were warm and friendly. The Byredo products in the room were a big win with me and smelled fabulous. The restaurant off the left by has a pup friendly patio and great service. Would not hesitate to stay here again!
Check your bill. They charged me parking twice per night. You would think a big hotel would have their billing issues in check but I guess not. Was charged $57 twice per stay. So $114 for parking per day instead of $57
Did not stay here but used the rent a car branch in there. Nice clean place which is right on the Beach. Would love to stay there one day!
I generally enjoyed my stay at the InterContinental San Diego but I will not stay again while there are what I consider junk fees added to the room price that are concealed until check in. The compulsory amenity fee is ridiculous. $50 dollars a day for a dining credit that does not roll over day-to-day, access to wifi and water in the lobby is ridiculous. Not to mention that wifi is complementary for IHG one rewards adds insult to injury. I understand resort fees in some scenarios where there is a reasonable chance of using the ammenities, but this is not that case. I was also told by staff at the desk when I questioned the fee that it is required by California. I have been unable to substantiate and feel this was either a lie to deflect responsibility or ignorance by the staff. Edit: Great to see a vapid, corporate response from the hotel that affirms my thoughts
