Typically stay at Hilton but I was pleasantly surprised. This hotel was extremely nice, clean, awesome views and service was fantastic.
Nice restaurant near San Diego Bay. Great AV tech got meetings and great banquet food provided for our meals during our meetings. No outside food was allowed in meeting room areas. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and nicely decorated.
We have mixed feelings about this hotel. Context: We stayed here for 4D/3N. We got upgraded to a harbor view room from a standard king room with our platinum elite status. We also booked the hotel through Chase’s hotel luxury program where we are given $100 credit that can be spent for parking, food, basically anything. Good things: - The room was clean, bed and blanket were very comfortable. - We loved the floor to ceiling windows and the view of the harbor and airport. The lounge chair was also very comfy to sit in. - The check-in (Marie) and check-out (Riley) employees were incredibly nice and helpful. - We got lunch at Vistal. We sat down at 12:30 and they said they could give us the happy hour prices which typically start at 1pm. So that was very nice. The food was also very good. We got the fish tacos, guacamole, and tuna tostada. Service during lunch was 5/5, super attentive staff to our requests and regularly checked in on how we were doing. Bad: - Breakfast is NOT WORTH IT. For 2 people at Vistal, it ended up being close to $100 ($39/per person + tax + 18% service charge). The food was nothing special. The typical breakfast buffet items you would get (for free) at other hotels. Quality of food was pretty bad for the price you’re paying. The fresh fruit tasted like it was slimy and old. There was not a lot of dietary restriction signage and our server was not attentive at all. He missed our orange juice and didn’t check in on us at all. It was very hard to flag him down when it wasn’t even that busy. It felt like he was purposefully ignoring us. For the default 18% service charge where you’d have to go out your way to ask for a new check without the service charge on it, they definitely need better service. - You get complimentary water in your room every day. Since we didn’t get housekeeping, we texted them to get our waters. When we received them, there was literally a piece of chewed up gum stuck to the bottle they gave us. Unacceptable and disgusting. - We had a car with us and it was $46 per night. Quite expensive but comparable to other hotels in downtown SD. We hoped to use the $100 Chase credit toward parking but was surprised during checkout when our Chase credit was used first for breakfast/lunch before the $23 daily amenity fee credit was applied. So sneaky and left us feeling very deceived. Riley who helped us check out was very nice though. He walked us through the bill and helped resolve the bill to what we had originally thought we would be paying. IHG should really make it more transparent which credits will be used in what order to customers. - There is no fridge in the room. Only a fridge with drinks that you have to pay for. - No vent in the bathroom besides inside the shower, which doesn’t vent the toilet area…
This is a lovely hotel in a fabulous location. I had a room with a view of the harbour which included the historic aircraft carrier AND the historic three mast sailing ships! Really friendly hotel and a great place from which to explore the city and surrounds.
This hotel should be studied for its excellence in hospitality. Everyone we interacted with on every level was fantastic: personable, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun! Some of our favorites were: Destiny, Nathy, Sheila, and, of course, Dee H. Our plans to stay with friends fell apart last minute, so I had to make a last minute booking and Dee was super accommodating and easy to chat with. We were in town celebrating my daughter‘s 17th birthday and I asked if there’s anything she could do to make it memorable it would be appreciated. Not only did she upgrade us to a beautiful bay front view, but she also sent up an amenity cart with strawberries and champagne. Somebody please give her Employee of the Year!!!!! I can’t say enough awesome things about this property, the people, the food and the location. You guys all rock! Thanks for the wonderful experience! We’!! be back!
Of all the hotels I stay in, this one belongs to the top five. What an amazing Place, with fantastic staff, beautiful rooms with a stunning view, a delicious breakfast and again, fantastic, helpful, friendly staff. The rooms are very comfortable and the bed is great. The bathroom is big enough and had everything you need. The rooms are spacious and a real home away from home. Downside for me personally is that even after switching off the AC, I still hear this zooming noise of the central building system in my room, but thanks to my earplugs I still had two restful nights and I slept like a baby.
One of the best hotels I’ve visited. Rooms were clean, spacious, and had a great view of San Diego Bay. Hotel bar had quick service and quality cocktails. Hotel gym had everything I needed. I traveled for a conference, but brought my family (wife, 2 kids). The hotel pool is perfect for young kids. 3-4ft deep. The bellman, Kirk Larowe, was so helpful getting us into our room upon arrival. After traveling all day with young kids, all we wanted to do was get to our room and decompress, and Kirk made it easy for us. Also, the staff brought us a crib and a nice bath package for the baby with gentle soaps and sponges. It was a nice touch. Finally, we used valet all 5 days, which made coming/going with 2 kids and car seats super easy. I won’t stay anywhere else when I’m in San Diego now. 10/10.
The non suite room is kind of meh ... ambassador benefits is non existent lol lounge food is ok if u dont compare to Europe or asian counter part . Underground parking
I visited Seneca Restaurant with a group of friends. It is a beautiful location with breathtaking views, great food and drinks.
We enjoyed a four-night stay here. The location was great, and we could see the Midway aircraft carrier right from our room. Two downsides: (1) the bathroom water pressure was quite low, and (2) the welcome letter mentioned a 15% discount for in-hotel dining, but we were told after dinner that it doesn’t apply on Mondays and Tuesdays — which was disappointing.
