First time visit. Our anniversary dinner. The staff immediately made us feel welcome. Super impressed with our server Aethan. So warm and yet very professional. Excellent knowledge of the menu and was able to answer all of our questions. Highly recommend and look to our next visit.
Beautiful place to dine with your special someone. We Googled dinner spots and we were walk-ins. Greeted with a smiling face and quickly seated. A Sunday evening. Good options I thought were a little limited just because I never heard of most lol. But, I went with BBQ Shrimp and Grits, my friends had the Crawfish Radiatori and the Wild Blackened Salmon. We were all wowed and my expectations weren't high (just trying out the spot). Well, just go try it. The waitress was sweet, funny and patient with us too. Didn't try any cocktails, or dessert, or apps. Gotta go back right? Right! Oh, the bathrooms are very pretty and clean, but the soap and napkin dispensers were malfunctioning in both. But, put some Dial in there in the meantime.. Easy fix.
Dorothy’s was so cute! It was easy to get to & surrounded by parking. The atmosphere was so grown & sexy for all ages & walks of life. They had a great happy hour lunch deal that I took advantage of. It was a lot of food & includes a cocktail of choice. The crab cakes on the appetizer menu could have been my meal! They were delicious! I’ll definitely go back!
The food was delicious, they were out of fried green tomatoes and Boudin balls. The service was very slow as though they forgot about us
We went to Dorothys Downtown last week for a brunch, Jayda Jayda ordered the Creole pasta with chicken added, she ate a couple bites then she said she didnt like it , so she told our waitress she was not satisfied with the dish and just wanted something else ... Our waitress said "We cant take it back if its NOTHING WRONG with the food but we can give you a complimentary dessert because we dont want you to leave here unhappy" Wait ,what ? So your gonna MAKE HER take AND PAY for this dish that she DOES NOT LIKE ?, And what would make Jayda think the desert taste any better if the entree was a FLOP? Not only that, mam she has not even ate her FOOD and your trying to pass off a desert. Unacceptable!!! Yea thats not good customer service at all . So be careful goin here you might wanna take YOUR OWN BAG lunch at least you know you will be eating something YOU LIKE 👍 and not BULLIED into taking their unflattering dishes home ..sheesh ..do better.... Total NO MO GO for me and my peeps!!
I ordered the short rib and grits. That was NOT short rib. It was probably a chuck roast. Cutting corners and lying about it. Definitely not a fan. Won’t be coming back. It sucks because I enjoyed the service and the people seemed nice enough Edit: the response to this post pissed me off. I’ve been cooking since I was 10 and when I buy beef I pay for a quarter cow and have it butchered for the deep freezer. I can identify any cut of beef chicken goat turkey duck etc. I know where the joints, cartilage, sinew etc should be. Those WERE NOT short ribs. Again, that was more than likely a chuck adjacent to the tender, fatty cut that is a short rib and it pulled apart like a roast. It was dry like one too so I believe you did cook it for 4 hours. I am not confused or ignorant about it. Wherever you are sourcing your meat is putting more chuck than rib, and that’s being kind and assuming you are ordering the short rib. I added photos of uncooked short rib because it is a heavily fatty piece of meat. There was not a single bit of fat on that “short rib”. I also wanted to post the google definition. Thought it might be helpful (since we are patronizing)
Absolutely charming environment/ambience with attention to detail on every front! KUDOS TO CHEF RENEE FOR THE FLAMING BANANA FOSTER TABLE SIDE! EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING - Fried chicken on top of gumbo - , Beignets- OUTSTANDING TO SAY THE LEAST!!
I enjoyed my experience at Dorthy’s it’s a beautiful restaurant. The service was amazing we did not have reservations but they quickly found us a table for two. The drinks were amazing and so was the food. I had the salmon and grits. I will be returning!
Nice atmosphere and my server was great! The apps were ok too. However, the gumbo had too much of a tomato base and I didn’t like it. It also was just a tad bit salty. I asked if I could order something in exchange and was told no because it was a personal preference. Management didn’t help the situation because there isn’t a manager on staff. So the fact that I have to pay for a $30 meal that I couldn’t enjoy is unacceptable to me. Will not be returning
The food and atmosphere were great. Just the right amount of spice. The beignets were the best we have had outside of New Orleans. And our server, Lee could not have been any better. Excellent Sunday brunch.
