Dorothy’s is, to me, a hidden gem of greatness coming out of the kitchen. The food was incredibly tender, seasoned to perfection, and every dish was full of flavor. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed and offered a seat at the bar, which I gladly took. Even though the restaurant was busy, the staff stayed attentive, checked on me consistently, and delivered A1 service the entire time. And if you don’t end your meal with those beignets, you’re missing out.

Had a great time with my family at a surprise birthday brunch. Both the food and thr service were great. I had the red beans and rice with sausage and fried chicken. I will definitely be dining there again

I wasn't sure what to expect but I loved it! The food was delicious. Fried chicken gumbo- tasty and cooked perfectly. The "more than honey" drink was a delight and a surprise- strawberry vodka and spicy honey! And last, you MUST have the banana bread pudding! To die for! Might be the best I've had anywhere!

I just wanted to take a moment to share how wonderful my experience was at Dorothy’s during brunch, largely because of our bartender, Bri. From the moment we sat down, she made us feel so welcome and taken care of. Her energy was warm, friendly, and genuine, and it truly made the whole experience even better. Bri was attentive, professional, and incredibly kind the entire time. She made great recommendations, kept everything flowing smoothly, and always checked in with a smile. You can tell she truly enjoys what she does and cares about the people she serves. It’s not often that you come across someone who brings that kind of positive energy and attention to detail. Brunch was already great, but Bri’s service made it memorable. She created such a fun, relaxed atmosphere at the bar and made everyone feel comfortable. Employees like her are a huge asset to your restaurant, and she absolutely deserves recognition for the outstanding service she provides. Please make sure Bri knows how much her kindness and hard work are appreciated. Because of her, I will definitely be coming back to Dorothy’s and recommending it to others!

I took my mother to Dorothy’s to celebrate her birthday, and it was both of our first time visiting. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. My mother ordered the chicken and waffles, and I had the gumbo with yellow rice. The gumbo had a very dark roux that didn’t resemble or taste like traditional Creole gumbo. More concerning, my mother’s chicken was cold when it was served. After our food was delivered, our waitress was not present for about 20 minutes, so we didn’t have the opportunity to address the issue right away. By the time she returned, my mother had already eaten one piece of chicken. When I shared our concerns, she offered to bring another piece of chicken, but my mother declined as she was already full. I then asked if there could be some form of compensation, given that the food was served cold and we weren’t given a timely opportunity to have it corrected. The waitress stepped away, and when she returned, she explained that she had called the owner, who stated that he would not be giving any discounts. The only option offered was an additional piece of chicken to go—which didn’t feel like a reasonable solution. Realistically, who would want to take a single piece of chicken to go with nothing else to accompany it? At that point, it became less about the food and more about the principle. It’s disappointing when a business prioritizes policy over making things right for their customers. Because of this experience, I won’t be returning.

It is a little closer towards a 5. The food was spectacular, even in spite of an issue preventing the use of fryers, and creating a need to limit or change the available menu selections. The ability to pivot quickly and still maintain a high quality is very impressive. Really the only issue we had was with waiting at the front desk for a while before anyone noticed us. Overall great food, good service, and fantastic atmosphere!!!

Food was AMAZING. Our waiter was fantastic, went over the menu thoroughly and gave us cocktail and wine pairings with each entree. We were very impressed by the boudin balls ! Absolutely delicious and highly recommended! We will definitely be back!

This restaurant has potential, but I’m not sure they’ll take the necessary steps to become a great place to eat. The menu is limited and underwhelming. I decided to try the Cajun pasta, but it was just as disappointing. The pasta was bland and only came with sausage , there is an additional charge for chicken or shrimp. Why call it Cajun pasta if it’s only come with sausage? Overall, I think Copelands on the south side would be a better choice for lunch or dinner. They have exceptional menu items and flavors. Dorothy’s does have different drink specials after 3 p.m. that might excite some people, but that’s not enough to make up for the lack of quality food.
