Came for my birthday and enjoyed everything about it. Food was great and priced well for the portions. I got the fried chicken and gumbo (my fav and it was amazing). Really cute inside and not too cramped. My server Ayonna was the best, very sweet. This is a place that I’ll frequent.
This was my first time. I lucked up with a parking space in front and didn't have to pay because it was a Sunday. There is a side parking lot you can pay to park in as well. We got there at 3pm and decided to do happy hour on the patio because it was a nice day. I had the crabcake appetizer and deviled eggs. Both were so good. I had the creo pasta for dinner and it was absolutely delicious. My friend had gumbo and even that was good. I chose the carrot cake for dessert and it was huge slice big enough for three people. I took alot of the food home and it tasted even better later. I had a great experience overall 10 outta 10. All the food was amazing. I can't wait to go back.
The food was overall great. I ordered the bbq shrimp and grits and it was excellent. The crab cakes and voodoo balls were also really good. The chicken and waffles were disappointing. The waffles were perfect, but the chicken tasted like it had been double fried in funnel cake batter (greasy and had way too much going on). The drinks were amazing and so was the service (shoutout to Athan)! It’s a nice venue with a cool vibe. We will definitely be going back ☺️
The service here is the best I've had in a long long time. Everyone was so kind, personable, and fun to talk to. The food, oh my soul the food. The boudin balls were very good. The butter candle with bread was a little disappointing initially but the flavor of the butter and the soft cloud like texture of the bread made up for it. Every entree my table ordered was divine however the bananas foster that they flambe at your table was the highlight. The chef was energetic in the best way, great sense of humor, and she explained each step with pizzazz. Bonus, it tasted so smooth and the way the bread pudding soaked up the caramelized sugar and melted ice cream was heavenly! I already can't wait to come back!
Unique atmosphere, with old frames and swords on exposed original brick. I ordered the vegan sausage ettuffe (sp?) it was delicious and a huge serving. We shared the voodoo balls which were fun. These are like croquettes with crab, rice and small bits of other delicious savory dishes balled and fried. We had a brief wait but were served quickly and enjoyed lunch in less than an hour, convenient to Florida Theater.
Amazing experience!!!! Chef Marvin was amazing! The food was outstanding!!!!!!! It was like being in New Orleans on Bourbon St. Wow!!! Service was impeccable. Cassidy and Ashley our servers made sure our experience was top notch. I will definitely be back!!!!
Ashley and Addison were amazing! Honestly, everyone was! I read the reviews and some are not so good but I like to get my own experience and I suggest you do the same. I reservations were at 11 when they opened and we didn’t leave until 4. So what does that tell you! It’s the ultimate girl brunch or nice date spot. The food was absolutely amazing! The seafood dip and deviled eggs were amazing. I had the shrimp and grits but added the Cajun gravy. I can’t remember what the other girls had but trust me…it’s worth it! We sat outside in the back and they accommodated us with fans and made sure we were comfortable! Ashley took the best pictures for us to capture the moment and she loves her job. I’m literally still in the parking lot writing this review because they made our day. Thank you so much and please do appreciate your staff Dorthy! They are the epitome of customer service. As a manager in corporate you don’t find get people like what you have! 😘🙏🏾
I’m so glad I came in to enjoy the food. Great company, great service. Our waiter had a sense of humor and made us feel welcomed instead of rushed, which I’ve experienced at other restaurants downtown. We even got to enjoy a show of them making the bananas foster. We will certainly be back
Here's a revised review: We had an amazing time at Dorthy’s Downtown! 😍 Started with the appetizers Boudin Balls & Deviled eggs were a game-changer. Main course did not disappoint: BBQ shrimp & grits was a flavor explosion, and the fried chicken & gumbo stole the show for my husband and son. Save room for dessert the banana bread pudding was to die for (we got two servings!) and the Beignets transported us straight to NOLA! 🌟 Cocktails were on point too. Chef's table visit was the icing and loved how they cared about the experience. ❤️Can't wait to be back (and try the Elk Rack next time!) 🍴
Dorthy’s was really cute and aesthetically pleasing apon arrival. We were seated quickly and introduced to a new Adults happy meal menu. Orders was taken and kinda got a little shake try from there. We ordered bacon devil eggs and the size of bacon was disappointing compared to other restraunts. We then received our meal before our drinks. We ordered salmon and grits as well as andouille jambalaya and the meal was pretty good. We were notified drinks was a little behind due to staffing which was fine but when we received them they were half full🥹. We finished up paid and left. Hopefully or next visit is much better but we can’t complain too much. Our waiter was very pleasant.
