I'm not sure if there is new management at City Thrift, or if management is simply hiring more friendly pleasant employees, but my last two experiences at the store have been very nice. Employees make eye contact, greet you at the cash register and make an effort to be polite and friendly. I look forward to returning soon.
Amazing deals and selection. I was ready to purchase a gorgeous vanity, several name brand tops and 4 pairs of Jean's. When I asked for a fitting room, i was told the fitting room's were closed. There was still 18 min before the storw closed. So, i placed everything on the counter and walked out. Cashier had a poor attitude and was rude.
The store is very clean and VERY well organized. The staff is friendly and helpful. The cashier Thankfully was especially sweet and helpful. We buy all of our clothes here and it’s always been a good experience.
Don’t even try to bring your purse in here, make sure you leave it IN THE CAR because the lady working will not let you put it behind the counter & follow you to the front door! Rude for absolutely no reason!!!
They have amazing 50% off deals and have some of the best clothes that are affordable in Memphis In my opinion and the staff are really nice
I’ve been coming to this store for YEARS and I honestly love shopping here, but man… this place is way overdue for a renovation. It feels like it’s never been cleaned or updated, like ever. Everything looks super outdated and worn down. I really wish management would put some effort into renovating or at least refreshing the store because it has so much potential. This is one of my favorite spots to shop, I just want it to look as good as it could. A remodel would make a HUGE difference.
I have fun going here, but I agree that the prices are like new clothes for items that are torn, stained, or otherwise. Every now and then I'll find some fair deals, but their appliances and kitchen section are FILLED with broken items strewn about. Edit: Since I made this review a WHILE ago, pricing has gone up rediculously. Used sneakers for upwards of $30-$40 is honestly baffling. I've seen clothes with holes, minor or not holes are holes, for $20+, and the pricing matches that of Bargain Hunt right next to them sometimes. Bargain Hunt takes dead stock and over stock from other stores for unused items and I'm just so disappointed with the pricing here with it being a thrift store. Thrift stores are supposed to be helpful for low-income families and this specific location feels predatory with the pricing. I understand for-profit stores but this is genuinely disheartening as the prices seem to be going up consistently.
Always find a deal when I go there. They are having a sale orange tag 30% off green tag 50% off
I will say the layout, organization by size, and they have more national brands. Now the issues. The pricing seems off..a name brand (no apparent) issues cheaper than a known cheap name..the biggest for me,no dressing rooms...every brand can and usually fits differently for many people...or irregular sizes. That stopped me from purchasing.
Not a routine stop because they don’t offer dressing rooms, most merchandise is overpriced, and overall vibes are depressing from physical condition of the building to apathetic workers. Worth visiting only during their frequent 50% off sales, especially for their wide and well-organized clothing selection. I’d expect better from a for-profit chain of thrifts like this—there are nonprofit stores local to Memphis that are running laps around this place.
