This was our first experience with Alamo and it exceeded our expectations! The staff was efficient, friendly and professional on both ends (Boston & Denver). The car was clean & ran well for 2,800 miles. PLUS - this was the most economic option by far across all car rental companies. We will use Alamo again!
Rented at the downtown Boston branch at the Atlantic Ave. location. The experience on the whole was easy peasy. Customer service is efficient and the car was ready to go, although it was at 3/4 full of gas, which is hard to match and we just returned it full. But what really caused confusion is the lack of signage. The cars are on 7, and if you follow any signs they point you to the 7th floor. Ah, but then someone finally tells you that you first need to go around to the front of the parking garage and stop at the Avis street level office. There is a box to drop off keys and parking ticket. . . but we had to go to the downstairs office for check-out.
We book from this Avis regularly and usually get good cars. The staff also has been really nice and easy to work with.
Excellent downtown location; an easy walk from our hotel on the wharf. We just wanted the car for a day to explore on our own. We enjoyed our day of exploring and when we were done we dropped it off after hours and deposited the keys in the drop box. Done! We pre-paid for the car so pickup was super easy. The Alamo office is right on the street but the actual car is on the seventh floor of the parking garage. Pre-paying is the way to go to save extra $$$.
Customer Service was exceptional. Upgraded me to SUV without charging me extra. Car was great.Synced phone to BlueTooth Great. Even let me extend res without charging me as there was a lot of traffic returning the card. Stinks that Alamo in Boston does not except Debit Cards. Will be using Hertz for the next trip. Sorry.
I’ve had nothing but great experiences here. The team is incredibly helpful, and the car selection has been consistently good. On a recent rental I left a phone in the car and they kindly held it until I was able to return to collect it.
We recently (July 2015) rented a vehicle at the Alamo office in downtown Boston, near the South Station train station where we arrived in Boston from Philadelphia. Our experience was great. It took only a few minutes to sign the paperwork, get the keys, and pick up the car. The staff was courteous and helpful. The car was was very nice - a free upgrade - and we were allowed to drop the car off at the airport with no dropoff charges. And very reasonably priced. We will use Alamo in the future.
I went with Alamo because they were the best deal for a one way rental (I was moving from one state to another). I should have realized they were the cheapest deal for a reason. Pick up: Took the guy almost 20 minutes to get me the car. Didn't do a walk around with me and didn't check the tank (which wasn't full). I personally felt pressured because once he finally did bring the car around there were at least 5 people behind me. I did a walk around myself and took pictures. Drop off: WORST DROP OFF EVER. Alamo does NOT have clear signage at DCA. I finally had one of the airport guys get in the car with me and show me. The place he took me took wasn't drop off so the Alamo guy just said I had to get going. At this point I was close to being late for the drop off and was very frustrated that the Alamo guy didn't help. Finally an enterprise gentleman helped me find Alamo drop off. the only good thing about the experience was that I called to ask about the tank situation and they allowed me to bring it back not full which was nice.
If I could give more than 5 stars to the staff here, I would. Leo Fuentes (the manager) and the other staff were all friendly, professional and helpful. We had some questions before we ever picked up our car so we had the opportunity to chat with several different staff on different days. All of them gave us correct information and were thorough in their responses. When we rented our car, we took a drive to Salem (about 45 minutes away) and were victims of a “smash and grab”. After a very unpleasant conversation with people at the Avis location in Salem, we called Leo. He had us return the car and had another one waiting for us so we could continue our 10 day road trip. The staff at this Avis location more than made up for the frustration of the day!
Overall, an easy process, and staff were helpful. The car was okay - a bit worn. After a couple of days, the warning light came on saying Service was overdue and Oil Change Needed. I had to switch it out in Maine, and that was an extremely easy and pleasant experience - ending up with a much nicer vehicle!
