Avis Car Rental

Firstly, when I book a car in advance - two weeks in advance and request an SUV I expect an SUV to be available when I arrive to collect the rental car I have paid for. No SUV was available and they could only say they “expected” one to be returned within a couple of hours. On a schedule we had to make do with a minivan. On finding the minivan we discovered trash left inside, dirty carpets, dirty wing mirrors and windows - inside and out. I’d also paid for a full tank of gas on collection - the minivan was very nearly empty. All in all not a good experience and as I didn’t got what I’d paid for can only give one star.

if there was an opportunity I would put minus 5 stars! To be honest: I have been living in the USA for 6 years and this is my first worst, most innocently awful experience. everything was good at the very beginning. I issued the car and went to pick it up with my wife. up there where the cars are given the worst began !!!!!! one of the two guys said something unintelligible to my wife. like "I won't carry the parking ticket down." we didn't understand what he meant. it turns out it was necessary to take a ticket for a pass from this very guy. we arrived downstairs and understood this, because the barrier did not rise and we could not leave the parking lot. I walked up to the 6th floor, then another floor by elevator. went up to this guy for a ticket. what started here ... ... a nightmare! a nightmare how he screamed about what he told us. but he didn’t tell us that we should take a ticket, but only indicated that he would not carry it down. but then he yelled in such a way that he made me behave in response as aggressively as he did. I also shouted in response already. screamed from powerlessness. screamed in resentment. from offense that I am not to blame, that this is my first experience in this place. two minutes later he gave me a ticket. a month has passed and I still feel very bad about that situation. I have never received such a negative communication experience in any city or country. very aggressive and evil !!!!!

Despite having a reservation, I waited 28 minutes for the office to "receive vehicles." When I went to the parking garage to get the vehicle, the attendant gave it to me running (its a keyless push button start) yet had the keys in his pocket while walking away from me. Had I drove off with the vehicle I wonder how far it would have gone before stalling. I contacted the owner, Diane, via email regarding my experience but it just went ignored. They need to look at staff training very seriously here. AVIS should consider taking back this franchise.

Car was good but when booking online I ordered and paid for a GPS sat nav. One was not provided, when I asked the agent from collection office he said they didn’t supply them and could not refund me as it was paid online. He gave me a number to call but it was a US number and I don’t have cell phone in US as from UK so can’t call so guess I lose my money. Disappointed then paid for something unable to supply and then no refund.

Such a convenient downtown rental location. Staff are very helpful.

These people are crooks. Do not use. Even though I made a reservation they did not have my car available so they gave me a more expensive one and charged me accordingly. When I returned it they charged me $42 for 4 gallons of gas even though I filled 9 miles from drop off. I’ve been promised reimbursement twice by customer service but it’s been 5 months and I’m still waiting. DO NOT USE Avis. They should be charged for theft.

Rent from this location almost weekly. The staff is great and could not be more helpful. The office is small so therefore sometimes it can get crowded. The help move as quickly as humanly possible to process you quickly. The cars are always clean and well-maintained. The location is a very easy in and out with access to all the major highways. I want again to reiterate that the staff goes out of their way to accommodate you with the utmost courtesy.

I'd give Zero stars if possible. Booked an SUV 6 months in advance for the weekend. Going to a wedding out on the cape. 3 days before arriving in Boston Avis cancelled our reservation! "Sorry we're overbooked" 3hours on the phone with customer service still no help. Ahhhhhh Busy holiday weekend...Few rental cars anywhere in the area. Sixt wants $1700 for a corolla! We're 3 men with luggage. Now what? We're screwed! It's shocking they can do this with no consequences!!!

Excellent service at both the pickup site in Boston at the downtown location and the drop off at the airport in Cleveland. I rented a nice full size SUV for the week long trip in the north east area, mainly New York. Very good rates with no issues or problems with either end of the rental process. Highly recommended as a positive company to deal with.
