The team of Chris and Chris did a nice job installing the batteries, controller, and monitoring hardware as part of Evergy's pilot program. Critical circuits were moved to sub panel for backup. Very efficient and clean runs, well labeled, and cleaned up well once finished. Very pleased with their work.
After evaluating 3 different solar installers I selected Rising Sun EPC. One of the companies I looked at was extremely high pressure and tried to sell me on way more panels than I needed. The other provider pushed a more expensive brand of panels that came in substantially higher in price. Keith at Rising Sun was very straightforward to work with, he understood what my goals were and his project proposal came in at a competitive price. He was always available to answer questions and explain the permitting, tax credits, and installation process. The system took a bit longer to install than I had hoped, but it was because of slow permit approvals with the city. Keith was frustrated with the approval process and drove down to the city office to expedite things. My system has been live for a couple of weeks and is producing a bit more than expected. The installation crew was very friendly and did a fantastic job with the install. Without hesitation I would recommend anyone seriously considering solar to give Keith a call at Rising Sun!
From the beginning to the end, it was a great experience. Communication is key. I was informed every step of the way. Either in person, a phone call, text or email, my questions were answered and always told what was going on. There are tons of Solar installers out there and I went through the process of contacting them and listening to “pitches”. I had 4 in home visits and multiple email offers. Rhody from Rising Sun was above my expectations. He listened to my needs and wants and communicated that to his team. A few companies did not listen. They tried to sell me on tax incentives, property value increase and incorrect energy savings. I was interested in sizing the system correctly, placement, and price per watt. He listened. He was the only one of all the companies that sized my system just right. He took into account my home, property and my needs and came up with the perfect system. When I pressed other companies on the size of their solar bid, they eventually came back and said that Rising Sun did correctly size the system and they did not. Kind of scary when you are talking about an investment of such a large size. It would be like going to a dealership looking for a basic truck to haul some items and they try to sell you an F-350 SuperDuty. I am glad that Rhody knows his solar, listened to my needs and knew my home energy usage exactly. This is the reason I went with Rising Sun, but this is not where my fantastic experience stopped. I was kept in the loop every step of the way. Communication about site visit and placement was key for me. I had an idea of where I wanted my ground system, but was unsure of how it would work. Desmond was able to walk my property with me and identify placement and ensure me of the success. I had drainage in the ground, a septic system and trees that he was able to help identify so that the install team would have no problems. It was exactly what I was looking for. The install team was fantastic as well. I was communicated with when materials would arrive and when they would start the process. For something so large, to get it done in 3 days is amazing. It was done with care and precision. When you have a project in your mind and then when it is complete, sometimes it looks different. Not this. This system is exactly what I had envisioned. It was in the perfect place and it looks like it belongs there. Along the way Rising Sun communicated with me effectively . WIth Megan, the project manager dealing with communication and addressing any questions. She was quick in responding and made sure everything ran smoothly. The President of Rising Sun also was available to call and email me to ensure my expectations were exceeded, and they were. Whenever you make an investment of a large size it can be scary. I did my research, read a lot about solar and educated myself on everything I could. Again, still a little scared. Rising sun made the process a lot less scary. It feels good to have a company that is dedicated to their clients as well as solar energy. The process was no pressure, and more informative, if anything. They communicated every step of the way on everything that was happening. I trust Rising Sun and all of their employees. Trust is hard to come by with me, but they gained my trust and will continue to have it. Thank you to everyone at Rising Sun.
This company only cares about doing your install and the $$ related to that. While the upfront process and install went smoothly and everything was over communicated, that is where to good service ends. I have been trying for just over two weeks to get support for an array that is not producing power. The service department seems to be non-existent. Run from this company. Even if a competitor is slightly more expensive I would recommend them as long as they have even an inkling of a service department should you need support.
My experience with Astrawatt, now operated by Fidelis Renewables, has been nothing short of excellent. From the very beginning, the process felt smooth and well-coordinated. The team was clearly knowledgeable and completely transparent, which made the entire installation feel effortless on my end. Communication was consistent and easy to follow, and the final walkthrough was especially helpful—everything from using the app to understanding what to monitor for the best performance was explained clearly. I feel genuinely confident about the future of my home’s energy setup and look forward to continuing the relationship with Fidelis. Highly recommended!
Astrawatt, recently taken and managed by Fidelis Renewables, was a smooth sailing ship! Excellent experience from start to finish. The team was knowledgeable, transparent, and made the install seem easy. Really good communication and final walk through of how to use the app, what to track, and how to see the best results. I feel confident about what the future has in store at my house and with the Fidelis relationship!
My solar adventure started with requesting quotes from many companies in the area. Rhody Harris got back to me faster than any of the other companies, wasn't pushy, respected that I had done my research, and spent our time filling in the gaps in my knowledge about SOLAR instead of their COMPANY. He was trying to sell me on solar, even if I didn't end up going with them. You can tell he truly loves solar. Astrawatt was super cost competitive, despite using the best technologies solar has to offer! The IQ8M microinverters and REC panels are top of the line. Many competitors tried to sell me on cheaper inverters and panels for the same price. It also helped that they had the best loan options with no absurd fees. The loan I opted for was through Credit Human, which has simple and reasonable interest rates, comparable to personal loans. They also didn't try to sell me on using MACRS on a residential system in order to stay cost competitive. After I was approved for the loan I was connected with Megan Hail, a project manager. She had wonderful communication and kept me in the loop the entire time. A project coordinator, Desmond Poirier, came out to my house and took measurements of the roof with a drone and crawled up into my attic. I was able to supply him with engineering plans of the roof that I requested from my builder. Megan continued to keep me updated as the engineering plans were approved by all of the required entities, and scheduled my install. The Chris Roach and the other installers showed up before the materials and began checking things out. Once the materials arrived they cut a 3 day job into 2. They cleaned up after themselves and when they left you wouldn't have even known they were there!
After 10 years of having solar panels, we decided to get a back up battery installed. We received multiple bids from several companies and decided to go with Astrawatt now operated by Fidelis Renewables. I dealt with Alex and from start to finish, the entire transaction went smoothly. He was patient with my endless questions and concerns. He provided me with multiple battery options and we opted for the Tesla Powerwall. During the process, we also decided to upgrade our electrical panel to a Span smart electrical panel. If you're considering upgrading your electrical panel, you should check out the Span. The project was completed on time. The installation team was punctual, polite, and cleaned up prior to leaving. I highly recommend Astrawatt Solar and will use them again in the future if I have any solar needs.
Highly recommend Astrawatt for solar panel installation in the Kanas City area. Prior to starting the process, I read many on line horror stories with other national installers about pushy sales process, delays in installation, incorrect paperwork submission, and project managers ghosting customers. My experience with Astrawatt was the farthest from those experiences and was outstanding. As they only recommend the best equipment brands and models, may not be as cheap as some other companies but receive a superior product since this is a 25 year investment. I received proposals from several other local installation companies as well. I had a focus on a local company that had a positive BBB rating, did the sales, project management, installation and service with no sub-contractors while having been in business for an extended period. Astrawatt fit those requirements, and their education first approach in the initial consultation showed their customer focus. At no time did my sales consultant Reid use any high pressure sales tactics, ensuring all my questions were answered and I was comfortable with my selection even, if I did not select them. Once contract was signed, Megan the assigned project manager was very responsive, providing routine updates on the process and quickly answering all my many questions. All applications to the city and Evergy occurred in a timely and complete fashion, resulting in the installation being scheduled and performed slightly ahead of schedule. The installation crew was very professional, completing the installation in 2 days as scheduled. Post installation inspection approval process was slightly delayed due to an overly picky city inspector (required updated engineering plans and resubmission for 1 panel that was re-oriented during install due to an obstruction). Astrawatt quickly updated the plans and resubmitted to the city which were approved and final inspection passed as quickly as the city's process allowed. I hope not to move ever again, but if I did I would use Astrawatt again on my next solar install.
I’d give zero stars if it was an option… **see edit below. I added a star for what appears to be a quality product with abysmal communication and follow through. We started the process with Astrawatt Solar (of Kansas City? Of St. Louis? I’m still unclear about which office we officially worked with because they passed us back and forth so many times) in March 2025. The installation was scheduled for the end of May 2025, got moved to the end of June because of the STL tornado and Ameren availability. In June 2025, 2 electricians from KC worked on my house for 2 days, couldn’t complete their portion allegedly because Ameren didn’t show up, and went back to KC. A full month later, in July, a local crew showed up and worked for 4 days. At the end of that week the solar panels were installed on my roof, the Powerwall battery was attached to my basement wall, and everything appeared to be in place. However, the system failed final electrical inspections with the county on 7/18/25, 8/1/25 and 8/25/25. As the electrician who met the inspectors was leaving my house, he said the company needed to regroup after so many failed inspections and go over everything carefully so it would pass next time. He tried to blame STL county saying the inspectors kept coming up with new things that were wrong. That was the last time I saw anyone from Astrawatt. The day before the final inspection, they sent me a second “payment due” notice on the final payment with a message that said they were unable to submit everything to Ameren until it was paid in full, so I submitted the payment. That was a huge mistake on my part. After many emails and attempts to contact Astrawatt and get a timeline for completion, they stopped responding in late September 2025. At the beginning of November, I got a broadcast email from Alexander Roach saying a franchisee was taking over their existing projects and that everything would be completed by the end of 2025. I’ve emailed and called numerous times since then looking for information, but Astrawatt has disappeared. I paid the company $31,000 with the understanding (they sent me the tax credit forms after final payment) that I would receive $9400 in tax credit back when I file my 2025 taxes. But if the system isn’t fully operational (and Ameren has to issue a “right to operate” once it passes final electrical inspection) by 12/31/25, we lose the tax credit option. We are now in the process of trying to find an electrician who will finish the job so that we can submit for the tax credit, but today is 12/12/25 and time is running out. In summary, I paid $31,000 for a non operational solar panel system from Astrawatt Solar. Once I find a way to get it working (at additional expense), I will likely have to deal with a legal battle to recoup my additional expense and possibly the tax credit amount they prevented me from qualifying for. The stress and headache caused by this shady company cannot be overstated. Run far, far away. ****update-Astrawatt suddenly resurfaced 2 weeks ago. I received a call from a new person I didn’t recognize saying they didn’t know we had a problem and found out when STL county started refusing to let them pull permits or schedule inspections. After this call, someone arrived the next day and completed the work. It passed final inspection on 12/29 and is currently operational and qualifies for the tax credit thankfully. After this much headache, I still don’t trust or recommend them, but at least I mostly got what I paid for…
