I love this place if you need a quick taco and a drink. Always pleasant service, good decent food, fun colorful atmosphere. We love this place as one of our quick dinner stops.

I've been seeing/hearing about Tropicale for about a year and have been wanting to try it that whole time. I obsessed over their Instagram and wished I was there but then, something would come up so we couldn't go. We finally tried it this weekend and wowie, did it live up the hype. Let's start with drinks. I'm not usually a piña colada girl (as in i would rather not drink than drink a piña colada) but theirs were fresh and good and I'd consider getting one the next time I go. Their traditional margarita hit the spot but didn't wow me. We ended up ordering the pulpo, los maduros con carne, and the tostada ahumada. Everything was fantastic! The pulpo came with chorizo and potatoes and was topped with a chimichurri and crema. The different flavors and textures worked so well together. Los maduros con carne was something I didn't know i needed in my life. The sweetness of the plantain topped with the savory pork - probably our favorite dish of the night. The tostada had the least wow factor in terms of presentation but it was very very tasty and we would definitely order it again. This was enough for food for my husband and i because we'd had a late lunch but, if you're hungry, I'd suggesting ordering another dish. There was a line when we got there and they seat you after you order as tables come open. We probably waited in line for 20 minutes and then another 5-10 to be seated. Don't know if that's typical or if we just got there at a good time but it wasn't too bad for us.

Great little place amongst other little eateries, which we haven't tried. Kind and friendly staff. Loved the pina colada in the hollowed-out pineapple. The fish tacos were excellent. The guacamole and chips with the different salsas were yummy too. Great outdoor seating too.

The vegetable plantain dish did not knock my socks off. I had heard great things, so maybe I was just disappointed from the hype. I was told the meat option was good though. The person taking our order was not the most helpful in helping up decide what to order, or explaining the dishes, we could barely hear them talk.

Incredibly delicious. I got one steak taco, one shrimp, and the fried cod. All sooooo good. The sauce they serve with it makes it so much better. Get a Pina colada in the pineapple trust me! Great covered patio seating area. I will most definitely be a regular customer. Staff are kind and friendly too 😊

Delicious Latin food in an open seated market type at atmosphere. One of four restaurants to choose from at the specific corner tropical brings more of a Latin American, tropical fusion food beverage bites to the area. Order at the bar, get a number and pick a seat. Your food will be brought out to you. We took advantage of the happy hour menu and split a ceviche and chips and guacamole amongst poor people, and everyone ordered their own entrée as well. I’m not a big fan of octopus, but this place cooked it really well so it was not rubbery at all. The shrimp, fish and Barbacoa tacos were all flavorful and served on beautiful blue corn tacos with a nice house roasted salsa. The ceviche was by far my favorite with refreshing yellow citrus sauce. We slurped back our piña colada’s and mango margaritas which were delicious and just boozy enough. Definitely recommend for a good taco or if you want to accommodate other flavor pallets as there’s a few other restaurants nearby.

We live in the neighborhood and have been coming here once a week for about the last 3 years! The shrimp tacos are my favorite meal. They are consistently amazing and always taste the same with high, fresh quality ingredients. The owner and whole staff is so friendly too! The chilaquiles, also amazing. Everything we’ve tried here has been a win. We’re big fans.

Tropicale has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Portland. Everything we ordered was so fresh and full of flavor. The ceviche was incredible, bright, citrusy, and beautifully presented, and the plantain chips were the perfect pairing. We also had the taco, which was packed with flavor and topped with fresh greens and radish that made every bite feel balanced and fresh. Beyond the food, the whole vibe is just great. The patio feels like you’re on vacation for an hour, the staff is genuinely kind, and you can tell they care about what they’re serving. I’ll absolutely be back and will be bringing friends with me. Highly recommend.

Can’t recommend this place enough. I came for the cocktails, which by the way blew my mind, but stayed for the food! Everything about this place as well thought out. I love that it’s Latino owned, and you can see the influence in the food and how authentic it is. The tortillas are made in house from flour that sourced from tres hermanas and they are GOOD! My favorite things I had were the Piña colada Tepache cocktail Tacos Pulpo (grilled octopus, my fav fav thing)

Camarones tacos were soooo good! The tacos were flavorful and not dry at all. Pina Colada was delicious and strong. This drink can definitely be shared. The ceviche is highly recommended! Lots of lemon flavoring added which made it refreshing on a hot summer day in Portland. Only thing is I wish they would give a little bigger of a portion for the price! Friendly staff that has awesome recommendations and great outdoor seating. Awesome live dj. However the line gets realllly long on a Saturday evening. Be prepared to wait!
