This place used to be one of my favorites, but it’s changed a lot, and not in a good way. The prices are unbelievably high for a thrift store. I went for the MLK 50% off sale, and honestly those prices should honestly be the regular prices!! These are secondhand items. I noticed absurd prices on high end / designer brands that shouldn’t justify charging excessive amounts. I’ve seen better prices at Goodwill, Ross, and even on new items elsewhere. With the cost of living already so high, thrift stores should be helping the community, not taking advantage of it. Very disappointing.
Great selection however I have to agree with the other reviews regarding the high prices. I found a cute skirt for my daughter that still had the tags from Burlington it was $4.99 but the Texas thrift tag was $8? Which is why I only shop here on the select days that the whole store is 50% off. Other than that I don’t visit often due to the prices being on the higher side. However like I mentioned they do have a big selection and it’s pretty organized for the most part. Happy hunting
Araceli was wonderful and was really nice when helping us check out. Very friendly and sweet!
Ariselly was very Hospitable and Pleasant. I will say it’s not appealing that you can’t try on the clothes. And it’s final sale.
Huge inventory! Carol was very helpful at checkout! Love her bubbly personality!!
It’s good thrift store but prices have definitely gone insane. 10 usd for a used shirt?
Concerns Regarding Changes at Texas Thrift Store The recent changes at Texas Thrift Store raise significant concerns about their impact on individuals and families facing financial difficulties. It appears that the store is taking advantage of the current inflation to justify practices that may be considered unethical. The prices have increased, and the shift from cashiers to self-checkout systems is troubling. Although this change is intended to reduce labor costs, studies indicate that self-checkout systems can lead to higher instances of shoplifting, which may counteract any savings from cutting labor costs. Furthermore, with the current job market being tough for many, the move towards self-checkout can be seen as dismissive of the community, particularly those who rely on thrift stores for affordable options. This trend raises questions about the store's commitment to serving the community effectively. Another issue is the removal of dressing rooms and the implementation of a no returns policy. While companies have the right to establish their own return policies, the inability to try on clothes before purchasing makes it challenging for customers to buy items that may not fit. Customers are now advised to try on clothing over their existing outfits, which is not a practical solution.
Cashier- Liz very professional in helping me with my purchases. Job well done.
The store is always well stocked, and all the employees (cashiers and stockers) are very friendly. :)
There is self checkout areas but you can’t self checkout, an employee has to scan your items. I was shocked at how expensive everything was, and how worn out things were. Might as well buy retail for their prices.
