Michael was awesome! We had a great time and he served us wonderful drinks! His margarita was the best I've ever had. And I strongly suggest his "sexual chocolate" shot.
Awesome bar, awesome staff, great drinks and great vibe. I was put in charge of putting together an impromptu office holiday party. Michael the bartender was very accommodating for a crowd of 25+ people and let us take over the lower level. He had this thing called the "green tea shot ", which was absolutely delicious. Goes down smoothly. Highly recommend. I bought way too many. Jon, another employee, despite being a huge GSW fan, was fantastic, made sure we were taken care of , and our drinks were always filled, made sure to bring us food. (Great bar food btw) and even participated in drunken dancing with us. Chelsea (I think I'm spelling her name wrong) was the other bartender who was incredibly nice, had good recommendations for drinks and a goddess. I'm kinda upset at myself for not discovering this place sooner. 10/10, would recommend.
We decided to come over after our Beneath the Streets tour guide stopped to explain a little of its history. We met the bartender, Michael who is so nice and personable. He asked us what we’d done/seen so far during our visit and suggested we take the ferry to Bainbridge which we didn’t know about and we’re so glad we listened. He was definitely on point with the gorgeous views of Seattle from the island. He also shared some of his paranormal experiences which I appreciated as well. Merchants cafe is definitely a place to sit in and grab a drink when you visit. Michael will definitely make you feel welcome =) thank you again!
Great place! Nice atmosphere. Wonderful bartender. Good sandwiches. And a 10% discount to people who did the underground tour! Only complaint was there was only one guy holding the whole fort down from taking orders at tables to managing the bar. Would definitely come here again though.
Super chill love the old dive vibe but glass windows so it’s not seeding looking, which I love, but this is good too. High ceilings make it feel bigger than it is, lots of airflow. Restrooms are in the basement which I think is always a good idea. 10/10 will return.
My wife and I we're visiting from out of town and we wanted to visit a historic location. Michael, was our bartender, he provided phoenominal service! Cool atmosphere and good food and drinks. Would definitely return or recommend!
Stumbled upon this on my way back to the hotel and did not disappoint. Bartender was cool and told this is the oldest bar in Seattle. Check out the downstairs.
Amazing atmosphere and service. This is a safe place for anyone who wishes to relax with a nice old fashioned or fresh tapped beer. If you look closely you will see pieces of history all around you. Everything here has a story to tell, and Michael was so knowledgeable about the space and the additions within it. The owner has kept a very magical place alive 150 years after its time.
Loved this place! Went there a couple times during our visit to Seattle. Great history and the bartender Travis was awesome. He's super friendly and efficient. Very genuine and easy to talk to. But at the same time won't put up with stupid drunk peoples garbage. Which is exactly how it should be to keep the establishment safe and comfortable. We will be back when we visit Seattle again.
The oldest bar on the west coast in it's original location. Pretty cool. The bar is hand crafted and original. The light fixtures are spectacular. The ghosts are no extra charge. The food isn't great. It's a BAR! Local beers on tap and hand crafted cocktails. I enjoyed it.
