WOW! Absurdly delicious! I genuinely was not expecting the food to be as good as it was-considering it’s in center city. But they definitely proved me wrong. Would absolutely come again and again!
This is our favorite place for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the city of Philly. Superb espresso, lovely pastries, best pistachio gelato ever, fresh pasta, their cooks know what they are doing in that kitchen, the food is incredibly delicious. Great bar and cocktails. Elegant and cozy atmosphere.
It was excellent!! I ordered spaghetti vongole, buffalo mozzarella and pistachio gerato. Everything was fine. Vongole: a lots of clams, more than 20. Those were very plump and juicy. The source was accented by garlic, which was key point. Buffalo: very fresh and nice, with tomatoes. Pistachio: the flavor of pistachio remained strongly and it tasted savory. Totally I recommend to everyone who visit Philadelphia.
I'm always a little bit too picky when it comes to my pasta sauces but the food here was absolutely first class. The chocolate bread pudding I had is definitely in the top 10 of desserts I've had ever. We highly recommend the calamari.
Favorite place we tried during restaurant week BY FAR! Our server was Marco and he is probably the best server I have had in a long time! Food was excellent, fresh, and didn't leave us feeling heavy even after 4 courses. 1000% will return for dinner again soon! We already returned twice for coffee and dessert to make up for our disappointment at other restaurants we tried during restaurant week 🤣
Okay: fantastic wine menu. Superb dinner menu choices. Gelato will kick your teeth out and the service is top notch. You come to Philly? You gotta eat here. Can’t recommend the lamb skewers and pepper gelato enough, people.
AMAZING place. We highly recommend it. Incredible food, awesome service, cozy ambiance. It has it all. Affordable food punching far above it's weight in quality too was the icing on top. Perfect mix of fast casual coffee place and gelato bar with high end service for a sit down restaurant too. You won't regret it!

Each week the specials menu changes as they focus on a different region of Italy for inspiration. The standard menu is delicious, and I love always having a new option each time I visit. You must NOT leave without getting some gelato!!
Stellar experience at Gran Caffe L'Aquila. I went with a larger group (16) of coworkers for lunch. The appetizer boards were we'll crafted, pasta was fresh, the salmon was absolutely delicious, and the gelato made on site was extremely flavorful. The service staff was great as well. Our server gave recommendations, explained components of dishes, and was overall polite and professional.
