Great downtown gym with everything needed for a complete workout. The equipment selection is strong, and the machines are well suited for both strength and conditioning. I especially like the turf area, TRX straps, and abundance of accessories, including specialty bars, boxes, medicine balls, and Bosu balls. It’s easy to put together a varied, functional workout here. Solid option if you want versatility beyond standard gym equipment.
The two things this gym has going for it are Kent at the front desk, who greets members by name with a smile, and the city view. Other than that, it will continue to deteriorate as no improvements are made until it’s just another in a long line of Genesis ruins that were once nice, independently owned clubs. I have been with Genesis long enough to understand the business model: purchase a club, invest no money, and keep trading on the reputation of the previous club’s name.
I’ve been a member here for about a year, and I can honestly say it’s been great from day one. The staff is friendly, the equipment selection is huge, and the whole place has a welcoming vibe. Cory helped me set up a group guest pass for coworkers visiting from out of town, which was incredibly helpful. Kent at the front desk is always kind and makes mornings better. Sidney’s 6:30 AM Friday class is the best way to end the week — she’s knowledgeable, motivating, and just awesome. And Nick’s intro training sessions taught me more in three workouts than I learned in years of sports. It says a lot that I can easily name four staff members who’ve made a difference. This gym is truly a community. My only complaint... please get some extra ventilation/fans in the locker rooms, too hot to successfully get ready for work after a workout.
I moved from Louisiana and I tried 4 or 5 different clubs in the last 6 months. I came in to GENESIS PNL and met Gage. He is was super helpful and walked me through everything. There is not a day that goes by without him speaking to me and seeing if there is anyway he can help me. While everyone is great. Jaylen is also goes out of her way to make me feel welcome. I encourage anyone who is looking for a great gym experience to come and ask for Gage he is the best. They have wonderful Personal Trainers as well!! I recommend GENESIS PNL DISTRICT!! THEY ROCK!!
I've only been here once (so far) when I was in town for work, but a typically great gym. Lots of good equipment, clean, and between 2 and 4pm on a weekday, not terribly busy. The only complaint is that $25 for 1 workout is steep, especially in comparison to the YMCA ($15) which is only a few blocks away and offers nearly as much equipment.
OUTSTANDING gym. Not too crowded, even at peak times, with tons of barbells and free weights. Clean facilities, nice bathrooms, friendly staff, this place is perfect. I’m just in town visiting, staying at the Westin, and I really wish there was one of these gyms back at home!
I’ve been a member at Genesis Downtown Kansas City for a while now, and I have to say that Landon, the club manager, has truly made a difference in my experience. From the moment I joined, he’s been incredibly attentive and approachable, always making sure members feel welcome and valued. Whether it's offering helpful advice on fitness routines, addressing any concerns promptly, or just creating a positive atmosphere throughout the club, Landon consistently goes above and beyond. His professionalism and commitment to the overall experience at the gym are evident in everything he does. I’ve been to a lot of gyms, but the level of care and dedication that Landon puts into managing the club really sets Genesis Downtown apart. Highly recommend this location, especially if you're looking for a great gym with excellent leadership!
Yes I just wanted to complement Nisha the manager at the front desk was so helpful today. When I called and inquired if you were open for the day since we had a very large snow and ice storm, she was so cheerful and uplifting and welcoming me to come and work out, it made my day! My interaction with her when I do visit is always pleasant, she’s a credit to your company! It’s hard to find someone that deals with the public these days so professional and yet welcoming ! Again wanted to thank her for a job well done, and complement you on the accommodations at your gym, they are wonderful! Thanks again!
I've been a member at Genesis for a while but live near a different location. I come to the power and light location because the staff and energy is 10/10. The equipment might not be top of the line, but the staff does everything they can to make sure you stay on top of your fitness goals and feel welcomed.
Great location next to the convention center. Weights definitely feel like weights. Nice walk from exhibit halls
