I was able to get access for a 3 day membership while working in KC. Great location, close to hotels and downtown coffee shops after the workout. The facilities are up to date, plenty of floor space for free weights and machines with large windows with good views of downtown. The front desk manager was very welcoming. I would recommend this gym to anyone in the area as well as travelers.
10/10 highly recommended! The staff is amazing! I never have to share or wait to use equipment. I love that they offer FREE classes. Only thing missing is a pool. If you’re looking for a nice location, clean gym, with lots of variety of equipment and activities… THIS LOCATION IS FOR YOU!
Gym improved when Genesis bought out One Light Fitness. They got rid of the easy-to-use wipe dispensers and replaced them with squirt bottles and paper towel rolls in a 5 gal bucket. How fun!! Instead of grabbing towels at the front desk, they’re now abundant in the locker rooms. One might say the locker rooms are overflowing! I canceled my membership because I don’t feel worthy of the excellence. Ok do I get my free T-shirt now?
I’ve worked out at the Genesis Kansas City Power & Light location for a while now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best gym environments I’ve ever been part of. The training staff is extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help, whether you’re just getting started or pushing toward serious fitness goals. The people who work out here are great too — it’s a very positive, motivating crowd, and it’s genuinely a delight to come in and train every day. The equipment is top-notch, well-maintained, and there’s always something available for whatever type of workout you’re doing. With Gage stepping in as Assistant Club Manager and now Cory leading as Club Manager, this place has truly become the most ideal location to exercise in Kansas City. They’ve built what feels like a dream team, including the front desk staff and everyone else who keeps the gym running smoothly. Everyone here is helpful, friendly, and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere makes you want to keep coming back. If you’re looking for a gym in Kansas City with great leadership, amazing staff, and a supportive community, this is the place to be.
Great gym with a welcoming atmosphere and everything needed for a solid workout. The facility has free weights, benches, squat racks, and plenty of cardio equipment, including treadmills. The TVs and music also help create a good training environment. The location is very convenient in downtown Kansas City, especially if you’re staying nearby at one of the hotels. It’s a much better option than the typical hotel gym and definitely worth visiting for anyone looking to get a full workout in while in the area.
Went here a few weeks ago and it’s nothing special top 10 worst gyms actually. Lots of broken equipment outdated everything. Flooring peeling up, not enough benches really small sauna no pools without appointment. All the other genesis have nicer equipment. Also while I was walking around someone in the office was literally smoking there were clouds coming out of the office. I will never go back here. Phenomenal location amazing views with lots of parking but everyone here is rude also lots of 5 star reviews with no commentary makes no sense.
The gym is good, but it needs some modernization and more cycling classes. There used to be a class on Fridays, but it was discontinued—and I wasn't even notified at the time; I showed up for the class only to be informed then. But, above all, the air conditioning needs to be fixed. Summer has begun—and even on a day that isn't terribly hot yet—the gym turns into an oven, making the cycling area completely unusable.
Club is very spacious and clean! Gage showed us around and gave us a great tour. Will definitely be coming back
Yikes! Be careful working out here. So much broken equipment and everything needs calibration. I am so happy I was just here on a pass because the incline bench press seat gave out while I was benching and I nearly broke my wrist and shoulders. Missing floor pieces, torn up seats, broken smith machine disgusting face pulls nearly purely black from all the germs and uses it had. so much wrong with place absolutely abhorrent for the price they charge you and they have audacity to ask for a 5 star review when they don’t even deliverer that kind of gym. Nice location- nice views. Not even close to a 4-5 star gym. Employees are nice until you tell you don’t want to sign up. What a mess AVOID!
