Great coffee, average food (we got the tofu sandwich/wrap). Lots of place to sit and work from. Great staff also. We went there around 10am on a Friday morning. Good wi-fi as well.
Gearhouse Coffee Shop claims it was created to remedy the loss of "third spaces" in Capitol Hill, promoting "genuine connection." However, its policy and facilities are exclusionary and fail to live up this community-oriented promise. During my visit, I was informed the cafe is technically a "21+ space" because they serve beer—a rule never communicated on prior visits. More critically, when I needed to change my child’s diaper, I was told there was no changing station. I was forced to manage an inadequate change in a stroller due to a complete lack of appropriate space. When I suggested they install a changing station, the staff's justification felt like a dismissal. This experience highlights a frustrating hypocrisy: a business marketing itself as a community "lifestyle space" actively excludes parents and children. Many other cafes and breweries that serve alcohol successfully welcome families and provide basic accommodations like changing stations. To claim you’re building community while ignoring the needs of parents and children is contradictory. If Gearhouse genuinely wants to be a "third space for everyone," it must reconsider policies that marginalize families. Being "child-free" as a personal choice is one thing; operating a neighborhood cafe that excludes children while preaching community is another. Truly inclusive spaces accommodate the realities of life, including families.
Nice space, usually pretty crowded. Came in for happy hour beer, but was told they don't offer it anymore (Cashier didn't seem to know, but said that it was normally automatically discounted in the system so they must not have it anymore). Disappointing, as it's still listed on their website.
This place has it all. The decor is on point, the coffee is fantastic and the staff are lovely. I definitely will be coming back. They also do a lot of outdoor activities, it’s a new place but it’s definitely going to get busy once more people find out about it.
6 of us visited while in town and everyone loved their drinks and breakfast sandwiches. They also gave us great tips on things to do and how to save some money doing them. We will probably stop back tomorrow morning before we head for Alaska.
I love this coffee shop, all the employees are really nice and helpful. The coffee is good, with a nice selection of food and drinks on draft. I like how they host so many events and how active of a community it seems like they have. Really good WiFi too if you buy something.
I love the vibe here. It’s like a gear-rental startup that also serves coffee and beer. I really liked the Americano. They have board game nights as well as hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and biking events for members. they even hosted urban hiking events earlier. If you want to meet outdoorsy people, get some work done, and enjoy a cozy atmosphere, this is the place.
Gearhouse is an excellent cafe, with super tasty coffee open to the public. They've got other nice looking beverages on tap. It also doubles as gearshed for me to support my outdoor activities. The gear is top quality, and as a member free to rent. You know what else is free as a member? Coffee and tea. While I'm procrastinating from computer work, I love to check out the maps and day dream summer hikes and scrambles. 5/5 would come everyday, and I do.
The perfect place for board games! It's wide and spacious so lots of people can be accommodated. The staff is excellent and the food is great.
Wifi requires a receipt number and order total because they're scared homeless people might use their wifi (and that would be so horrible) Anyways, '9ktl' and the total '13.26' should work for at least the next few days. Coffee was fine, nothing crazy good. Bathroom code is 54321
