I am posting this because I had to learn the hard way and wish I had a truthful post like this to read before I enrolled. Capella is NOT a research institution. Do you diligence and check your state specific and program specific accreditation. Just because the school is accredited does not mean the specific program is. Most doctoral programs are not, only certain bachelors are. State of Minnesota does not recognize Capella as an institution because it is all online. They will not award State financial aid to Capella. It is sad that the Department of Eduction does. If you work and your only option is this I would still stear clear, the name will only hurt your reputation instead of helping it. Nobody considers it acceptable only laughable. Instructors are so desperate to be called doctors, when they should be concerned about learner success instead. They have another 100 years of learning before they should be considered accredited. You don’t know who you dealing with online. They never show face and you cannot meet them in person. Shady as it gets and how they are even accredited is beyond belief. I am not a disgruntled learner, I am ones who sees right from wrong and I have never experienced in any institution what I experienced at Capella, a continuous battle, mostly pointing out flaws in their academic approach. It is like an online Casino, probably operated by the same criminal enterprise.

I will tell every right now, save your money and go elsewhere. I am currently fighting a case against them adding more "required courses" in their flexpath program because they stated the required courses for their information technology major changed. I will be calling the Minnesota Higher Education offices tomorrow morning. It might be an accredited college, however, it is not worth the hassle, time, and money that goes into dealing with this school. Maybe their more expensive and regular college is not this bad, but their flexpath program is absolutely terrible. Don't even get me started on what happened when I needed help with an assignment. I waited days for an answer which caused my assignments to be turned in late. Seriously, save your money and go elsewhere. Hopefully the Higher Office of Education can help me where Capella failed to do so. All of this is currently happening when I am a month and a half away from when I was supposed to graduate.

Faculty staff are extremely dry and very unprofessional in their email etiquette. In fact, they have an entire tutorial dedicated to email etiquette, yet their very own chair will not follow it. I didnt even enroll, even though I took their doctoral orientation in 3 hours (7 hours ahead of schedule), and achieved an overall score of 92%, and even after trying to be polite, the chair program still refused to be polite to a potential new doctoral candidate, and engage in a professional manner. Imagine if you were a student, and stuck with financial aid, and had no choice but to stick it out. As an MBA, and an industry professional with over 20 years industry experience, I would highly suggest you move onto another school.

I had a great and realistic experience so far in my General IT PhD program. I had a very attentive and personalized on boarding, and the flexibility of pursuing the course work online was helpful for a professionally working parent to balance the work life and education. The dissertation seminar prepared me in the selection of the research topic and writing the research plan for dissertation. Now in dissertation phase, I am guided in completing the chapters of my dissertation by an experienced mentor. Hoping to complete this phase and get my PhD soon.

If your dream is to have to pay someone thousands of dollars to teach yourself and earn a piece of paper that is worthless in the real world, this is the school for you. I mistakenly took a chance on this waste of funding, because my employers were associated with this school for advancement. Except for putting me into greater debt (it was great for that) the education I received here was: "Quality doesn't matter." If anything it's finest contribution attempting to ruining my chances to get into a better school when I withdrew. I have a theory that their professors are paid to put good reviews on websites, because I know very few students, who care about advancement, who have good things to say about them.

Worst school to deal with. I started school here and had to figure everything out on my own. After a semester, my wife lost her job and we moved states. I didn't attend for a year. When we settled, i started back up, but was forced to reenroll. I was then told that since I was still paying off my tuition from prior semester, I cant register for classes until late September (wasting whole summer semester). Due to timing, i enrolled at a different college to be able to continue with school faster. They are not refusing to release my transcript to my new school due to the same reason. I even offered to roll the remaining balance into my student loan, and they refused that too. Have been completely unwilling to even listen to my requests. Will definitely not be continuing my education here!

I am a Capella learner in my last year of the PhD program. At first when I decided to enroll in the program I thought to my-self what am I doing. The first week of class was challenging. while I was excited to be in the program, it seems like a dream. Capella advisors, and admissions staff, professors was supportive. They communicated effectively to me about the program and all the resources available to me. This is my 6th year and it is a wonderful journey despite the hard work and challenges. The world of knowledge is open to all who dare to taken it in. I can attest to this new way of learning, you will never be the same. Capella is the place to be.

Deciding to enroll in Capella's FlexPath Program was a difficult decision at first due to being so accustom to the traditional in person, classroom bases schooling. A little over a year into now, that once difficult decision became one of the best decisions I have ever made! The program allows a full time working adult to complete school on their time and the flexibility allows for those "unexpected" events life sometimes throws at you. I would highly recommend Capella, it has truly been a learning experience not only with the course material but with life!

My PhD journey has been the most rewarding challenge I have ever undertaken. Enrolling at Capella was the right decision--it has allowed me to expand my worldview and meet people from all over the country and from many backgrounds. The program is rigorous and I have felt supported every step of the way.

I absolutely love Capella's online program! They offer traditional online classes and FlexPath (self paced). I am enrolled in their FlexPath program and I couldn't be happier. One flat tuition rate for 12 weeks, and you can use that time however you'd like. I'm currently about to finish my 3rd class within this semester, which means that the average price of my classes is cheaper than community college and I'm working towards my bachelors degree. It's all around amazing!!!
