Completely inadequate checkout process. 4 self checkouts for 10 items or less, and one open lane for everyone else, which is also the only lane for beer. If this location were marketed as an “Acme Express” or something, then ok, but it’s not. You can’t go in and grab a quick six-pack because you have to wait in the aforementioned line. I’ll go out of my way NOT to go here even though I’m in the area.

The staff could’ve been more welcoming and informative. The store itself was decent, though a bit compact.

Consistently bad quality produce and meats. I've went here numerous times and found blueberries or spinach that was about to expire. I've also bought chicken several times that ended up smelling really funny when I got home. Fish I've seen is sometimes packed 2-3 days ago. The place is definitely passable, but easily sub-par.

Acme is a service to the greater Society Hill community. As a vegan shopper it does not work for my needs. The organic produce can be best purchased elsewhere. Vegan offerings are few and not very well selected. However, for staples, it is phenomenal especially when having a time crunch. The store was recently well organized, and is easy to find ones way. Few markets serve all purposes and I am glad this one exists.

I just moved to Old City from South Philly. The Old City Acme makes the one on East Passyunk Ave look like a theme park. This store is small--like INSANELY SMALL. If you open a door in the freezer section, you pretty much block the aisle. Because it's smaller, there's less selection. The way inventory is laid out seems nonsensical. There are no self-checkouts! (There's no room for them anyway.) The employee who checked me out barely looked at me and didn't say one word. Very rude. And I'm almost positive the prices are higher at this smaller, less convenient, uncomfortable, less friendly location. I'll be shopping elsewhere.

As a neighborhood grocery store, it can't be beat. The vibe and convenience of a bodega but the benefit of full service grocery.

Needs revived management, I reckon. Used to be a fabulous place - a one stop shop with a manageable footprint, great variety and friendly customer service; top notch managers, cashiers, deli personnel, etc. Retains some great features. Doubt this is one of them: If I wanted something (available through an established distributor) I was comfortable asking about it [e.g. they now carry "Bakerly" products and I super wish I could ask them to stock Bakerly's pain au chocolat but am scared of blank stares]. Oh well. Now, the cashiers don't even know when their new week begins (sale prices).* There are no handcarts. Some managers can be found in the hidden cafe section @ the front of the store (I should go outside and knock on the window). They are all nice if you manage to catch their attention. Store inventory is unreliable. Still offers a wide variety of good stuff (I'd prefer less alcohol & more cookies). Best wishes for a return to the good old days. Sorry this is so long. *there is a lovely - sweet & helpful cashier who needs mentoring. Guessing the management needs a conscientious supervisor (am back where I started).

Wow, how beautiful this grocery store is. It is very, very wonderful. Thank you very much. It has all the desired products. The best reward for accepting the mixed diet of nutrients that the body needs and are beneficial.

I come to this supermarket every time I’ve been in Philadelphia. Every trip to Philadelphia, I am at this market. The shelves are always stocked to perfection. You can really feel the hard work that they put in. They do it all. You might not be able to find a certain brand, because it’s a small supermarket, but they have one of everything that you could need. Good people working hard there.

Decent selection of goods. Deli has very good fresh cheese and cold cuts, but for some reason there is no list or complete menu of what's available--you have to ask the attendant. Management seems to be cruel/harsh on the stockers and cashiers based on the interactions I have observed. Generally, service can be either friendly or spiteful depending on who you run into. Reasonable choice for a convenient grocery, but don't expect anything that will make you want to come back inside.
