Best grocery store ever
Good: the staff is always nice and very helpful. Usually not a long wait in line and there is a parking lot. Not so good: they're small and don't carry all brands or varieties. Also due to the size things aren't always where you expect (frozen chicken next to produce & meat, not the rest of the frozen food).
I called ahead for a fruit platter and spoke to Kaleif at the Deli Counter. Although there wasn't something readily available he was more than helpful when I got there.
First time in this store and the manager was giving attitude to the cashier attending me. Her attitude was very off-putting. The kid was doing fine. Both me and the lady getting attended in front of me were very uncomfortable by her snappiness. I don't know what her deal was, but I probably won't be back there.
They redeveloped this small ACME from top to bottom and did a GREAT job. BIG PLUS...Beer & Wine shop now too. Bright, clean, well laid out, well stocked for a small ACME. Really good for quick neighborhood convienience. Limited parking which always seems to have more cars in it than there are customers in the store...probably near by gym user. It seems they have gotten the parking under control. The staff and Deli staff in particular are outstanding helpful and friendly.
Prime location but awful management. Everything is out of stock. Employees chitchatting instead of taking care of the long line. Products constantly mislabeled. They need to be replaced by a properly run grocery store. It is shameful for this neighborhood.
I’ve never been an ACME fan, or a google reviewer for the matter, but today I couldn’t not put a warning out. I shop at this acme out of convenience, it’s the closest store to where I live. And it’s fine for basics, albeit always over priced, but today I unknowingly bought rotten food. I picked a basic small pack of bone-in pork chops, cheaper than other cuts but still over $10 for three pieces. I bought it around noon 6/17, checked the label, packed a day prior, and didn’t think much of it. When I go to start prepping it a couple hours later, after it’s been in the fridge since then, once I opened the package I knew something was wrong. The meat had that slime to it that good meat just doesn’t have, then the smell. It was just so sour, I couldn’t believe it. Then come the look at the bone more closely, that’s where the smell and the slime were coming from. It was almost green and I’m mad at myself for not noticing before I got home. Just be warned, their products are not top shelf and if you don’t check before you eat, there may be more repercussions than wasting money.
I love this store. It's has everything crammed in perfectly and it's priced as if it were in a suburb, not Center City.
Great store with lots of variety. Service from cashier friendly and good, however had a very unpleasant assistant at the deli section where I asked a very innocent question - wanted him to pick up a fried chicken piece to have a look and was answered with a very stern 'do you want to buy it or to look'. I also ordered some pasta to which he begrudgingly did but asked in a very stern tone ‘IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE???’ Very rude and zero customer service - definitely looked like he didn’t want to be there - I hope he was just having a bad day but as a consumer, I would not come back. From a tourist and first timer in Philly. 07/07/23.
The meat at this store is absolutely disgusting. I’ve tried different times on different days and it is always the same result. Today, there were multiple packages of meat for sale that were “best by” two days prior. Almost all other meat had a sell by date of today or tomorrow. I can’t shop for the week if meat has a short shelf life like this. Go elsewhere.
