Rainbow Grocery Cooperative is a unique, worker-owned market in San Francisco known for its outstanding organic produce, huge bulk section, and wide variety of vegetarian, vegan, and specialty foods. Each department—produce, bulk, cheese, vitamins, and more—is managed by passionate staff who own the store and offer genuinely helpful service.The store feels like a true community hub, prioritizing sustainability and local sourcing. Rainbow offers earth-friendly home goods, natural body care, and even household essentials, and shopping here supports a long-standing Bay Area institution. Prices can be a bit higher than conventional stores, but the quality, values, and friendly, knowledgeable staff make it well worth a visit.
Went here to pick up the Kaveri Coffee Beans. They have it available both in the prepackaged 1lb bags, and larger bins with free weight. I got the 1lb bag. I got it only once, and it was roasted 2 weeks ago from when I went. Overall it's an interesting grocery store where you can spend time just browsing around. Parking is not too hard to find given they have their own lot.

I absolutely love this place. The variety of their bulk products such as grains, legumes, spices, etc. are unmatched. They have carefully selected an amazing selection of food, cheese, and so on. It's not your usual grocery store, it's like many amazing small European specialty stores nicely put together.
A WinCo combined with Whole Foods pricing basically. Only place for vitamin haul though that gives you a persentage off if you buy in bulk. Ask around if your coming for it, has very helpful staff usually around there

Great place for people who value sustainability - more bulk bins than you can imagine. Excellent vegan options. So many vegan chocolates - I highly recommend Tcho for their incredible milk chocolate. They even have white chocolate wafers in bulk bins, yes, vegan! They use cashew and oat for creaminess, it’s amazing. Plenty of organic juices not from concentrate, in glass bottles, and stuff of that nature. Literally a reason for me to come to SF. Organic peanuts, ground into fresh peanut butter, in a reusable container… yes!
I say this with a lot of discernment: this is the best Co Op grocery store in the country. And its not even close. At all. They have the best of every kind of product you’d want from bulk food (incredible selection), to dark chocolate (far and away the best selection of Dark Chocolate I’ve ever seen and again, its not even close), to grab and go items, and so much more. What an amazing store promoting health and wellness. It’s enough to get me to want to move here to SF just for the Rainbow Co Op. You MUST stop by if you’re in SF and needing groceries or food on the go. What an experience.
Wowzah what a selection. Love the bulk section. Kinda expensive but it’s cool. Edit - Artisana hazelnut cacao granola is pretty good. Not too sweet, not super nutty, but the dried berries are a nice touch.
Amazing shop that I didn’t expect when I step in! The candles are lovely and all the individual packing stuffs are great! Love they have their own merchandises. Also would love to see the various of Asian bento and rolls😋
