I have been wanting to love this place and I keep coming back. The chai latte i ordered tasted like 90% milk and was so sweet I couldn't finish it. Also, the music was so loud I couldn't talk on the phone. It was a terrible place to try to get some work done on my laptop mid day.
I’ve walked by this place for 15 years and always thought it was just a tiny corner spot. I went in today with a friend who recommended it bc she loves it and it is HUGE inside! Multiple levels with loads of diff seating, a unique vibe for KC and I love it. The menu for food and drinks were massive (it was a bit overwhelming bc they had everything and I wanted it all: smoothies, teas, shakes, cocktails etc). It’s in the perfect spot with street parking right outside and just across the street from thr main hub of Rivermarket! I’ll def be back here to hang out and it seems like it would have a great night time vibe too! Love the view of the city from here too.
It was just ok for a quick bite. But as expensive as it is, a pre-made burger patty, NOT shouldn't have been used. The Turkey Bacon Club panini was really good! The jalapeño poppers didn't have any cream cheese in them. The Italian panini was delicious too. Lastly, I had a cherry Cream Soda that tasted like a seltzer.
I used to love this spot and the drinks are still amazing, but the customer service keeps me from coming back. My most recent visit was honestly disappointing. I felt like every request was clearly an inconvenience based on the reactions I got. I get that everyone has off days, but this has been a consistent issue here. It really takes away from an otherwise great place. I’d love to come back more often, but I wish the service matched the quality of the coffee.
There is a reason why I hate going to this place, but I go regardless because for some reason, my wife likes their coffee. Anyway, on Saturday morning I get to the counter and the fake brunette who wears gold glasses and a brown sweater at the counter ask for my order. I say I want two sister hazelnut coffees, a banana nut and a coffee bread. When she rings me up, the total is $15. That seamed a little low to me so I confirm with her that I asked for two hazelnut coffees and two breads. She proceeds to role her eyes at me and appears that she is about to go through a mental breakdown. She follows up by telling me "it's ok" with a negative tone. Takes the bread out of my bag and tosses it on to her side of the counter. Note: this is how your food gets treated. Like trash. Anyway, I tell her that I just wanted to clarify that she got my order correct because the price seemed low to me. And again tells me "it's ok". And she blows me off and just speaks to the next person in line. This is how they treat people. They don't listen and have mental break downs because they can't bother to get your order right.
Your experience will likely vary depending on the day/time you visit. Saturday evening. Opera House was our Plan D - retrospectively, it should have been Plan B, maybe even plan A. After walking around River Market looking for a pre-dinner drink, multiple other places with nearly 1 hour waits, we came across Opera House. I have been here for breakfast on bustling weekend days where this area is congested with eager farmer's market shoppers. Coffee lines are long. Food is reminiscent of diner food - it's expected, no signs promising more than that. Prior to tonight, I haven't utilized the bar. When other places had hour waits, the Opera House bar welcomed us. Fair prices. Attentive service. A full bar. Quiet crowd, no yelling over each other. Ample seating around. An eclectic setting. Really couldn't ask for more.
Cool funky little spot. Needs to come with directions. You order from four different spots 1. Coffee etc... 2.Bar 3. Restaurant 4. Bakery Make sure you are in the right line for what you want They were packed Sunday for lunch so plan accordingly.
PROS: located in Kansas City, CONS: cost, coffee, customer experience, dirty and dusty. I have walked by this coffee shop for any years and finally walked in and this is what I experienced. Upon entering the shop my wife and I noticed all of the decorations and "antiques" hanging for the walls and ceilings. The amount of dust buildup on these items was making me wonder how much of this stuff is just floating in the air and getting into the drinks. The girl at the front desk was off-putting and made my wife and I feel like maybe we should go somewhere else. addressing consumers in an appropriate was is crucial. We took into account that she may have been having a bad day, however there were several other employees in the shop who also lacked the ability to smile. I also know that this is a common Kansas City swag. Nevertheless it made our visit less enjoyable. We did not sit down and got our chai tea lattes to go so I can not give you much detail on the seating. The drinks that we ordered were terrible. We ordered Chai tea lattes and they were syrupy and think. The flavors were off and the drinks were way to thick to drink. We discarded the lattes as they were making up sick. I will absolutely not be visiting this coffee shop again.
It's cool in that it has a coffee shop, bakery, bar and grill. I didn't care for the nitro coffee, but my daughter's iced mocha was yummy. I had an omelette that was fine, kinda spendy. I probably should have looked up the favorites before ordering, but I didn't. It was fine.
It was my first time here, and the service was very good and warm. There is a cool look here (òωó)👍
