Opera House Coffee&Food Emporium

Stopped into the opera house for sunday breakfast. There is no sign, or host area or anyone really to explain their concept so this was a bad start to the atmosphere. It was chaotic confusion. But much like an english or french markey. On the left you have your coffee,tea, milkshake and smoothy counter. There are no servers so you cant sit down and order from the menu. You have to go up to each area and pay seperatly at each counter. I started my adventure with 2 of their signature expresso. The crazy on you which is made with both caramel sauce and caramel syrup this was right up my alley. And I give it a 9.5 out of 10. Next was the cinnamon Girl, classic expresso with honey and cinnamon. It was refreshing and scored abd 8.2 After my coffee in hand I headed down to their kitchen and ordered their blueberry pancakes. House french toast, bacon bravo omelette, and biscuits and gravy. The blueberry pancakes were a plane pancake with blueberry compote, nothing special, orginal or slamming in the taste. Give it a 1 out of 10. Next onto their french toast a dish that is normally my go to or fav. Now the menu stated these are dipped in vanilla cinnamon batter which there was zero hits of vanilla or cinnamon in the flavor and tasted very bland. Their house syrup prepackaged. Helped me to eat down the french toast. A 2 out of 10. Next iI tried their bacon bravo. Bacon, diced tomatoe and cheddar jack cheese ommlette. You get a side and i chose the potatoes. The taste combination was not horrible, but the size compared to 7 resteraunts in less than a mile radius horrible value for cost. Overall the omelette was a 6 out of 10. The potatoes were tastey seasoned well and scored a 7 out of 10. I def dont recomend getting one if their omlettes the size alone makes it not worth it. Finally from their kitchen I ordered a half order of their biscuits and gravy. Now this was a good value and the saving grace from the kitchen a 10 out of 10. And 100% the best biscuits and gravy that ive tasted in all of kansas city metro. House maxr buttermilk biscuits that absolutly slaps, no cap. For dessert I headed over to their bakery area and ordered the salted caramel twixt, and the opera torte. The twixt has overpowered by choclate fudge. Not what i was expecting with that name. For a choclate lover an easy favorite but for me 100% no thanks. A 2 out of 10. Their opera torte had many layers of light choclate with the fudge from the above item shaped like a squirl on top. But easily able to remove. The torte itself was amazing and i will be back to order it again. A 8.5 out of 10. This could have been a 10 and it may be for you as i just didnt like their fudge and after the twixt experience i didnt want to chance the flavor combination. They do have a candy and popcorn area with hard icecream and macaroons. But i didnt try anything from that area. And they have a stocked bar. With some signature infusions. For me I sat and tried coldbrew Mai Tai. A new addition to there cocktail menu. It has a fantastic flavor combination and hit hard for an 8. Overall the customer service was a 10 out of 10, the food even though some 10's lots of low ranking items. A 6.5 out of 10. And the atmosphere was all over the place and confusing for someone walking in for the first time. A 5 out of 10. Pics and videos posted for a visual.

Great hip atmosphere. Good multi level layout. Clean and interesting. Food is great. Had a Southwest burger cooked perfectly (med rare) and fries were also fantastic. Staff is very kind. Service was a touch slow but worth it if you're having out and watching the people traffic from the City Market.

I came here first on the morning of my daughters birthday, the environment is nice and simple for the area. Food was really great I had a garden omelette with chicken, it taste so good. It’s outside seating available (3 tables, two chairs ea.) and a bar located inside FYI.

This is a great location for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They make outstanding beverages. The wife had coffee and my son's had hot chocolate. Thier breakfast is amazing. They have a very diverse menu with a number of tasty options. They have a bakery on location that serve amazing pasteries. They have a great atmosphere that projects a welcoming environment. I would definitely recommend this location. Thumbs up!

What a wonderful place for your morning coffee or full on breakfast. After a visit to the City Market we set out for breakfast. I’ve walked by this establishment many times but never stopped in. I’ll admit, I am disappointed in myself for not coming sooner. Their coffee bar rivals that of any national chain. They can mix up your drinks with the best of them. If you’re in need something a little stronger, perhaps to help with your hangover from the night before, they have a full service bar with a friendly bartender waiting to help. When we first walked in I was thing they’d have the normal coffee shop breakfast like muffins, pastries or an egg sandwich. Boy was I wrong! The offer a full breakfast menu with some amazing items! We went with the Chicken & Waffles and the French toast. Both were delicious. We didn’t end up getting anything from the bakery but trust me it’s on my to do list the next time I’m in Kansas City. They don’t offer table service so you just walk on to the counter, order your food, take your number and wait for all that deliciousness to be delivered to you. Enjoy!

I love the atmosphere of this place. It's very open with high ceilings but still feels cozy. I had the chicken Caesar salad. It was fine, a little plain, but tasted good. I also had a Sweet Emotion, which has caramel and chocolate. It was delicious! Loved it!

The vibe here was fun but the people taking orders seemed annoyed to be there which was awkward. The food was ok, I definitely want to come back and try out their dinner/lunch menu. I got the cheese omelet with potatoes.

Really cute place right in the river market area - we hadn't been inside very often for things other than the coffee, which is delicious. The baristas often must be really exhausted because they rarely give you so much as a smile and mishear orders pretty frequently. The scones are to die for, so is the coffee and a lot of stuff from the grill, but the macarons were stale and $2.65 apiece. I won't be getting those again but I will be visiting again. Someday.

I'm a frequent customer I go there very often mainly Mondays and Tuesdays I go for the burger and tacos specials.... So I arrived at 730pm I ordered 3 beef tacos special with fries and I got my order at 755 I go back to my job too see they gave me Cold fries that were even fresh you could tell they were Old fries they redipped in grease 🤢 and on top on the my taco's had hardly any meat or toppings it was disappointing I've usually never had this problem before I took several pictures as well

3 Stars - A Dramatic Performance (But Not in a Good Way) I popped into Opera House Coffee & Food Emporium expecting a quick chai tea latte, but what I got was a full-blown intermission with no clear Act II in sight. The vibe? Charming. The chai? Decent. The speed? Somewhere between “glacier” and “dial-up internet.” I stood there long enough to question my life choices, learn the entire menu by heart, and possibly earn a minor in coffee studies. If you’re parched and have time to ponder the meaning of existence, this might be your spot. Will I return? Only if I’m very thirsty and very patient—or if I bring a book and a backup drink.
