They reel you into the program by promising to get you settled for a lower amount. I enrolled into the program with $20,000 in debt and they anticipated that we would be able to settle for around $14,000. I enrolled into the program and paid diligently $566 a month for 24 months totaling nearly $14,000 and now I am requesting a final estimate to complete. They are telling me that it’ll be $6,107. In essence they didn’t do anything for me except waste my time. I’m paying the same exact amount that I enrolled into the program with. And to top it off at this point they’re not even guaranteeing this will be the final amount I may have to pay, due to attorney fees, retainers and what have you. Do you self a favor and go somewhere else or even settle directly with your creditors. These people can do nothing for you except take your money.

DO NOT enter into any agreements with Monarch Legal! Every thing I was told when enrolling was not accurate and when brought up to the representatives at Monarch the answer was always, “I don’t know why you were told that.” They will state they begin negotiations day 1, that is a false statement. Three of the creditors I enrolled had not received any word at all from them 4 years after my initial enrollment. When I asked about this again I was told, “I don’t know why you were told that.” They will tell you the impact to your credit score will be minimal and temporary, 4 years later my credit is now worse than it has ever been. Due to this I have been denied home loans, auto loans, and other financial needs due to their lack of fulfillment of their promises and guarantees. I have had no choice but to file for bankruptcy at this point as the debt enrolled with them has never been touched and I cannot afford to keep paying them for nothing. I was told a refund would be issued once I removed all debt from the program, well “mysteriously,” my account number that had been on file with them for 4 years suddenly was changed to an invalid number. The refund has now been delayed another full week! Disgusting company that is not helpful at all!

Run as fast as you can from this company. I paid Monarch more than $28,000 over 2 years. They settled 4 of my debts but only 2 for less than what was owed (one of their major claims). I ended up having to file bankruptcy to avoid judgement from one of my creditors who had sued me. Monarch told me I would have to pay an additional $900 per month to cover the settlement offer. This is due to their front loading fees to themselves for work they don't perform and it is in violation of the Debt Settlement Consumer Protection Act. According to my records and what is allowed by law, they owe me a refund of $14,735. I sent them a letter via certified mail detailing my request for refund which they have ignored. I have filed complaints with BBB, IL State Attorney General, FTC, Cook County State Attorney and the National Consumer League. I am not backing down until I get my money refunded. EDITED 3/26 - after filing this review and others, Monarch did reach out to me and we were able to come to a resolution which included a refund of the fees in question.

My experience with monarch legal group has been a disaster to say the least. This is a scam please do not sign or do anything with this company. I was with monarch for a little over a year and they paid off $0 of my debt. I am in a bigger financial situation than when I first started with monarch. They claim to help make settlements with your creditors but all they’re doing is pocketing your money. I don’t understand how you can pay a company for over a year and not have any settlements completed. Let me not forget to mention the several lawsuits I was getting served with because monarch failed. I paid over 10k and this company did nothing for me, this should absolutely be illegal, I don’t know how they’re still in business. When I asked for a refund I received $386 back from the 10k that I spent how is this right. If anyone is looking to take action please count me in.

On January 29, 2021 I made my first payment to Monarch Legal in the amount of $397.69. This amount would be my monthly payment towards an “account” they set up for me to consolidate and settle my credit card debt. After making my payments for 8 months I saw no progress towards working on my debt resolution. At the time all of my credit accounts had on time payments and Monarch told me to stop making all payments. I did as they stated trusting the fact that they were a law firm and originally showing an A on the BBB website. When I called to end my “agreement” with them they told me that I had $1,907 in legal fees that would be reduced from my account. No legal action had been taken to resolve my debt. No case was built. When I brought this up I was ignored and just repeatedly told I had legal fees for no legal action being taken. This in turn dropped my credit score by 200 points, I lost $2,018.45 which all could have gone towards my credit card debt and kept everything in good standing. This has caused an extremely large amount of stress as I’m still trying to catch up all of the problems they have caused me financially. That’s 2 years later and I’m still struggling to resolve the damage they have caused to my life.

This group are crooks. I have been on their program since March of 2020 and they have only settled 4 accounts for me. They failed to update my checking information thought I provided it 2 weeks before payment, when I noticed they did not draft payment called back and found they failed to enter start date. They updated with wrong amount the 2nd time, called back and they corrected but again failed to enter a start date. After multiple attempts it was finally updated in June. I verified no additional funds were needed but came to find out that in July 2 accounts came out of settlement. Monarch failed to manage the accounts and screwed up settlements but have been collecting fees to service them. When I called to speak to a manager they simply state they need to look at it. Finally after so many issues I took all accounts away from them as they are not worth the money I have been paying and have gotten lazy. They stopped doing their job. DO NOT USE THIS COMANY!
