Silver Spring, MD Residence Inn. I’ve been a member of Marriott products for 30+ years. The racist profiling of front desk employees is going to create a class action. The man employee barely spoke or understood English, was nasty as hell and acted like I didn’t know he was profiling me. I’m an EEO trained specialist and this is blatant. I’ve registered both my Marriott rewards and acct # with this establishment. This is the 2nd time this male Indian employee has been a damn insult to my intelligence and race. I observed him and he didn’t ask everybody to produce rewards points. This is sickening and illegal Marriott.
We have been loyal Marriott Gold Elite members for several years. We know what to expect when staying at a Marriott hotel until July 17, 2025 when we stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Holland, Michigan on West Shore Drive. As we walked up to the entrance, the outside trash can was overflowing. When we checked in, we were not greeted or welcomed. Typically when we check-in, we are greeted and thanked for being Marriott rewards members. Often we are given a bottle of water and/or a snack. The attendant did tell us to help ourselves to cookies; however, the cookie bin was empty. We made the reservation with points. Yet, the front desk attendant said they needed to charge us for incidentals and the room. We asked about the possibility of an upgrade and the attendant said the room we had was very nice and we didn’t need an upgrade. When we got to our room, It was a typical room with a king size bed. As we stepped over the threshold, we noticed unraveled carpet! The bed was made, however, the pillow cases were very wrinkly. The pillows looked like someone had been resting on the bed and did not straighten the pillows after getting up. We pulled out the desk chair. The edge of the chair was frayed and had a spot on it. Not an inviting place to sit! The TV signal kept coming in and out. Perhaps because it was raining? In the morning, when we came downstairs for breakfast and to checkout, there were five employees sitting in the business area talking. We said good morning and they kept right on talking. Overall, the hot breakfast was good. The hot breakfast was probably the best part of our stay! At the front desk there was a game to earn 500 Marriott points, if you answered the question correctly. The question was - what does LL stand for in LL Bean. L.L. stands for Leon Leonwood Bean, founder of LL bean in 1912. When we checked out, we told the front desk attendant the answer and one of the employees sitting in the business area piped up and said that was yesterday’s question. The front desk attendant said, well it is still up so the guest should get the 500 pints. Who knows if we will actually get the points. Needless to say, our stay at the Fairfield Inn in Holland, Michigan on West Shore Drive left much to be desired. We will not be back. There were plenty of other hotel options close to this hotel. Note: We were told we would receive 250 points for the stay and another 500 points for answering their trivia question. As of today, no points have been added to our Marriott account. Usually Marriott is really good about adding points when they say they will. This is not how we wanted to start our vacation. We thought you would like to know about this Marriott hotel. They have not responded to my review. On a brighter side, we did stay at other Marriott properties while in vacation and were pleased. They were what we expected from Marriott!
I’m writing this after long consideration, but remaining silent only enables the behaviour. I was a long-term employee at W Hotel Brisbane, and I would strongly caution anyone considering working here to seriously reconsider. This is not a people-first workplace. Staff are treated as expendable numbers, not professionals, regardless of loyalty, performance, or years of service. The culture driven by the Senior Leadership Team is toxic. Bullying, excessive micromanagement, intimidation, and control are normalised and disguised as “high performance.” Leadership operates through fear rather than respect, and dissent or independent thinking is not tolerated. Psychological safety is non-existent. There is a stark contrast between the polished brand image sold to guests and the internal reality experienced by employees. Morale is consistently low, turnover is tellingly high, and many staff operate in a constant state of stress simply trying to avoid being targeted. If you value dignity, autonomy, honest leadership, or your mental health, do not work here. No brand name, salary, or résumé line is worth the cost of enduring this environment.
This is a good one. How about I had to call the Buford Police Department in Buford Georgia at 7:33am THIS MORNING because one of the front desk staff agents at the Fairfield inn & Suites-Mall of Georgia wrote down my card number & was fraudulently trying to run my card?! I stayed there April 7th-11th, 2026. There were plenty of issues, but regarding my hill was $319 & I paid $319. HOW ABOUT TODAY SUNDAY APRIL 26TH 7:26AM-I started to received UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTION notifications from the bank??? I keep all cards LOCKED so that ain’t never happening. I called the front desk and the person that answered IMMEDIATELY starts stuttering just like a scammer. He first told me that I had a reservation there & didnt cancel which was a lie Im in South Carolina! I immediately looked up my BonVoy account. No reservations for this weekend. I told him that he was a scammer & to put the manager on the phone. He said he was the manager & there was no one else to talk to. I immediately let him know that I was contacting the Buford Police Department. He said “Do you want me to transfer you?” Now WHY would I want the scammer manager to transfer me to his scammer cousin? NO THANKS. Immediately contacted the non-emergency line at the Buford Police Department & they alerted me on what steps to take next. AS SOON AS I HUNG UP with the Buford Police Department-the “Manager” at the Fairfield called me back. Stuttering & telling lies all at the same time. Needless to say that 2nd call didn’t go well because the call is unwarranted Ive already escalated the issue to THE POLICE. He hung up on me & immediately started sending me receipts from my old stay from 3 weeks ago. Nothing about a cancellation. Nothing about dates involving this weekend or weekend. BEWARE THEY ARE STEALING YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBERS AT THIS LOCATION. If this how the Marriott rolls I don’t ever want to stay at this franchise again. The FIRST issue was never resolved at the beginning of the month when housekeeping walked into my room multiple days without being invited & NOW THIS.
I have contacted them 3x now thru corporate, no response thu telephone, just 1 email. Never heard a response or a call from there hotel in Hyannis Ma, I had to contact the site. I WILL NEVER EVER STAY WITH MARRIOTT HOTELS OR ANY AFFILIATES! QUICK TO TAKE TH MONEY BUT NOT REFUND YOU. Are you willing to risk your life staying at there hotel with no working lights during a power outage? I travel frequently for work across the U.S. and internationally and have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years. I have never experienced a billing problem like this. I booked this stay through Booking.com and the reservation was prepaid. When I arrived at the hotel, the front desk told me the card on file had “declined,” which made no sense because the reservation had already been charged. They then charged my personal credit card at check-in. Mind you, blizzard is on its way. Later I discovered that the original payment through Booking.com had also gone through, meaning I was charged twice for the exact same room — once on the booking card and once on my personal card. Trying to resolve the issue has been extremely frustrating. I have not been able to get a clear response or resolution, and it should not be this difficult to fix a straightforward duplicate charge. To make matters worse, this stay occurred during a winter storm when the property also experienced power issues, which made the overall experience even worse. During my stay, power went out, internet, & no hot water! This hotel was not prepared for this. To top it off - All the emergency lights & safeties were not working, the hallways were a blackout. Those are supposed to have battery back up, the hallways had no lights which is a safety issue! After years of traveling for business, this is the first time I’ve felt completely misled by a hotel’s billing practices. If you book here, I strongly recommend carefully checking your credit cards statements to make sure you are not charged twice. I cannot recommend staying at this property & any Marriott brand affiliates after this experience.
I have booked my last Marriott and I like Marriott hotels. The organization clearly doesn’t want feedback as they make it impossible to give comments. I recently booked two Westin rooms for family. Because I needed two rooms connected or next door because of young children, I called the front desk. The hotel was nearly sold out so I needed to know before booking. It was also for same night and two nights due to circumstances so couldn’t just wait and see. After ascertaining that they had only two such rooms I was told they could not take credit cards over the phone to reserve the rooms and I would have to do it through the Marriott reservation line probably in the Philippines. After waiting 15 minutes for a reservationist, it took over 40 more minutes to book the two rooms. Despite providing all of the information MULTIPLE times, the confirmation for two rooms needing to be together arrived separately and incorrect as to number of people and my understanding of price. Basically, I do not wish to spend my time this way. It should take 5 minutes to make a reservation and spend $1k. I am furious after another bad experience where Marriott clearly had no interest in problems. Bill Marriott would be disappointed as it is not the same company. I am totally disgusted.
Clean comfortable lounge with very friendly staff. I was in between two Sunday meetings and dressed very “Sunday”-ish and decided to come to the lobby to work a couple hours. The cafe and restaurant were both closed but the young guy at the front desk got me a cup of hot coffee and was very accommodating. Loved the experience here.
Marriott pledged to go 100% cage-free by 2025, but progress in India lags behind other regions. Keeping hens in battery cages so small they can’t even spread their wings is cruel. Indian consumers care about animal welfare—Marriott should meet the same compassionate standards everywhere.
Marriott shift to dynamic pricing and the removal of publicly available award categories is a disservice to its members, i included. The new system which been around for several years has made it harder to plan and maximize my rewards which is frustrating and equally with a lesser value as a member. Cat 1 and 2 hotels near impossible to find, no transparency in US while better reward benefits are located in foreign countries not to mention that hotel ratings have gone down and having to pay for parking is more rampant while traveling.
Sadly, they are currently fraudulently promoting Sonder hotels as Marriott properties. We were advised that our stay at their hotels would be fully covered under Marriott points, they had Marriott branding all over the facility, the hotel team advised us that we would get the points for our stay and so we spent our money at this hotel. In the meantime, Marriott international pretends like they have no obligation to add these points to our portfolio At the end of the day, this is fraud by Marriott international. They can tell me I’m a lifetime, platinum and randomly titanium and none of that means anything because they are lying to their customers. My recommendation is that you spend your money at a hotel that you can trust Marriott is not one of them
