The associates of Black, Slaughter & Black were great. We worked with Nicole and she was awesome. Since they are located in NC and we are in SC they contracted a local attorney to do our closing paperwork. The attorney that did our closing was very unorganized. Had no clue on how to answer the questions we had. Our closing should of only taken 45 minutes to an hour instead it took close to 3 hours from start to finish. I would recommend Black, Slaughter & Black to people just not the attorney we went to for our final closing.
We were considering Carolina Law Firm for a real estate closing and ultimately decided not to move forward. Multiple calls were made and a voicemail was left with no return call. We later received an email stating they would get back to us ASAP, but no follow-up ever happened. Because of how time-sensitive real estate transactions are, this was unacceptable. Due to the lack of timely communication, we ultimately retained a different firm.
I have corresponded with several attorneys at Law Firm Carolinas over the course of over four months and have, unfortunately, found them to be neither knowledgeable nor responsive. As a result, the matter they were supposed to be handling has become unnecessarily more complex and will cost more to resolve. I also felt their fees were higher than appropriate. My experience has been especially disappointing considering the well-reasoned work I had previously seen from other attorneys at this firm.
Law Firm Carolinas seemed to be a great place to have my clients complete their closings in the beginning of my career. However, as time has gone on the staff has become completely off setting, communication regarding process to closing transactions is little to none. Lack of courtesy has been very high. The fact that my client was unaware of a few things regarding her closing including if it even happened makes me believe that all clients being treated equal isn’t a thing within their transactions. Without clients a business doesn’t run. Showing all clients courtesy goes a long way to keep business running efficiently and effectively.
You seem to be getting a lot of 1 star reviews and in recent history. This is a public place for patrons to share recent good & bad experiences and I hope you will take away the constructive criticism and not just dismiss it with a blanket response. This is our way of bringing awareness to you as I am sure maintaining a reputable real estate closing agency is important to you. Simple adjustments can be made to change the face of this firm. I am a third party and dealt directly with Elizabeth Holloway preparing closing documentation as well as disbursements after. This was not a pleasant interaction and almost cost the buyers money. The broker and I were also delayed in receiving our disbursements as well some unnecessary extra steps were taken. Possibly a fix would be to have an assistant, paralegal, or someone else handle this part of the closing process. The preparation of the Closing Disclosure, knowing the mortgage law and rights to the buyer, returning phone calls, handling the disbursements, as well as customer service seem to not be her strong points. Possibly another role within your firm would be a good fit? I hope this helps, as I believe with every negative problem there can be a positive solution. Thanks for reading and all my best!
Poorly ran company. I called and asked to speak with one of the attorneys, they told me “we don’t just do that”. Very tough company to do business with. Prepare to be on hold for at least 30 minutes before anyone answers.
We had to utilize this company when we went to closing on our property. They were unorganized, inconsiderate and did not properly complete our transaction. We almost did not close on time due to Amanda Miller’s lack of communication and follow-up. Furthermore, there was an outstanding invoice for pest control services that they were supposed to settle prior to paying us out. We received an email from the pest control company advising they were never paid. I highly recommend finding another law firm to work with, as this was one of the most unprofessional business experiences I’ve encountered.
Had the worst experience here. My lender chose this firm to close on our home. As soon as we walked in Attorney Joe Thompson was waiting on us and hurried us to sign documents. He was very rude to us and we literally signed all of our paperwork for closing on our home within five minutes. Minimal explanation of anything, just expected us to sign. Even tried to cheat us out of money they owed us because we overpaid on our closing costs. Tried to rush us out of there. This was literally the worst experience I had & I wish our lender chose the firm we originally wanted to go with. Do your due diligence before choosing this firm.
