This gym is great! The facility was clean, well air conditioned, and fully equip with all the gym equipment you'd want/need. As a new client I met Assistant Club Manager Tyler Gormley and he was really great. He showed me around the facility and was really helpful. The customer service here is great and everyone was really welcoming. I highly recommend this gym for everyone to go work out in.
Great experience! The gym is well equipped and very clean. Nisha is the heart and soul of this Genesis facility. She always greets everyone with kind words and a warm, welcoming, beautiful smile. Her spirit and energy is inspiring and contagious, and she is always willing and eager to help in any way.
This Genesis location is good, staff is friendly, usually pretty clean. Getting there is another story… you have to get a parking pass and validate it inside of gym which is annoying for frequent gym goers but the walk between the gyms doors and the parking garage absolutely reeks of cigarettes because the homeless camp out inside and smoke which is scary as a girl alone.
This gym used to be great before genesis took over.. used to be 24 hours now they close at 10 pm and 6pm on the weekends.. the sauna hasn’t been cleaned in years and the wood has mold and buildup on it. For closing early they sure don’t keep up the facility. These mega gyms are not what they used to be.
This is by far the best gym in KC! Tons of equipment, literally anything you could think of, they have it. The staff is amazing, especially Cory, he really goes above and beyond for the gym, is helpful, and very knowledgeable. If you have any questions, he’s got the answers. I highly recommend getting a membership here!
One Life has been an amazing gym to be a part of! The experience is great due to their high quality equipment and space, they offer exciting classes and the environment is always inviting. The staff at One Life are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and looking to help in whatever ways they can. The gym is always clean and neat, they do a great job of looking to provide the best experience possible for their members. I've worked with Jack Conrad and Kristina Strader and both went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of in regards to our membership and fitness needs/goals. Great place to be a part of!
I'm 3 min from this location but drive out to Independence because the sauna here is disgusting. With all the remodeling and updating genesis has been doing all over kc I'd think they could show their power and light location a little love. The yearly $40+ charge "to keep your membership price from increasing" is super annoying too.
Nice gym, predatory membership policy. My personal experience was as follows: I was pushed to get a 12 month membership and I instead got a 6 month membership because I was not sure how long I would be living in Kansas City. During this conversation, I asked what happens when the 6 months runs out. I remember being explicitly told that the membership expires, and I would need to renew it to continue. I should have read the contract more thoroughly, but they intentionally pulled me in the middle of my trial workout to sign the papers (I think knowing that I would not be as diligent in my reading). I ended up moving out of KC with 6 weeks or so left on my membership, so I was just going to let it run out. I forgot to check for a few months, and am now learning that after the 6 months was up, they just switched it on their own to a monthly membership at a significantly increased price. Not only did my membership price increase ~50% without any notice while I was unable to use it, I was made to feel like an inconvenience because I was not able to drive across several states to cancel the membership in person. Eventually I was able sign the cancellation form and send it via email, but I was informed that it takes 30 days to process the cancellation, so I will still be charged one more time before my membership is canceled. The year is 2024, nothing should take 30 days to process. Genesis scammed approximated $500 from me. I have heard of many gyms having predatory membership policies, I was disappointed to find out Genesis meets that mark. edit: I received a follow up call where Genesis agreed to cancel my final payment. While still frustrated about the months of subscription I unintentionally paid, with proper diligence this is a high quality gym. The facilities are good, the staff is kind, I love the Power and Light location and easy parking is also a plus.

Welcoming staff, great space, and well-equipped! This gym, nestled right in the heart of the KC Power & Light district, has everything you need for a great workout in a welcoming space. Whether weights, machines, cardio or classes are your thing, they have it all. I greatly appreciated the courtesy they extended to me as an out-of-town guest here on business, and I will be returning when I am next in Kansas City!
