Coava Coffee Roasters

This is my go-to coffee shop for working. Their coffee is really good too! The past few times I have visited have been great. I either get their coffee or their hot chocolate. The interior is huge and very spacious, with lots of places to sit, work, and just chill while drinking coffee. It’s definitely a very vibey place with a lot of industrial interior design. The staff are really kind and are happy to help you pick a great cup of coffee if you aren’t too familiar with what you want. Everything about this place is really nice! There are a few things I wish they would improve, like labeling their pastries instead of having them all clustered together. Also, the chai brand they use tends to have a bitter taste. But other than that, I highly recommend checking this place out. Really great Wi-Fi too!

First time. I ordered a half sweet chocolate vanilla mocha 😋. Defently will repeat. For first coffee of the day. It was amazing! Woke me up! And got done in an hour what I couldn't accomplish in 3 . Got a second to go.

Excellent coffee. Some survey’s list Coava Coffee Roasters as being the best in Portland which says a lot being that Portland is one of the top coffee cities in the world l own for being a pioneer in the “3rd Wave Coffee Movement” that emphasizes high-quality beans, ethical sourcing (especially direct trade with farmers), meticulous roasting methods (often favoring lighter roasts to highlight bean origin), and expert brewing techniques like pour-overs. Portland has an abundance of independent small-batch coffee roasters. Many coffee shops roast their beans in-house, leading to incredibly fresh, unique and flavorful profiles and a strong focus on the craft of roasting. Coava Roasters is one of those coffee pioneers sourcing green coffee beans from all over the world- Honduras, Brazil, Ethiopia, Indonesia, etc. The space itself in SE Portland is unique- appears to have been a former warehouse converted to a coffee shop with a ton of space and lots of beautiful wood everywhere around you and yet maintains that original urban industrial feel to the space. I used to be annoyed that their largest sized mocha they served was 12 ounces(along with Heart Coffee) and that they refuse to make a larger sized mocha. What Portland barista snobbery hogwash I used to think, but there’s a reason for that as the barista explained that Coava wants to be “coffee-forward” and focusing on the quality of the flavor like a fine Scotch or a niche wine- you don’t want to drink the whole bottle by yourself, just savor the quality flavor and not drown it out with volume. After all, they’re not Starbucks! No Grande’s or Venti’s here! Coava is delicious and definitely in my top 3 choices for coffee in Portland!

Coava might just serve the best coffee I’ve had in Portland. What really sets it apart is how smooth and balanced the coffee is—none of that bitterness or sour tang you sometimes get elsewhere. Just rich, clean, and robust flavor that’s easy to enjoy. We hit up several coffee spots during the week I was back in Portland, and this is the one I wouldn’t hesitate to come back to. It stood out in a big way. The pastries are legit too, but what really makes Coava memorable is the space itself. The industrial design, concrete floors, exposed machinery, and open layout give it a cool, architectural feel. It’s a space that feels intentional—like it was built for people who take their coffee seriously. Whether you’re grabbing a quick espresso or sticking around for a bit, Coava nails it on all fronts. Solid spot, no question.

I don’t come here as often as I’d like, but I really love their coffee! It’s super smooth, and I always try to grab a bag of beans to enjoy at home. :) The staff is amazing, ambience/aesthetic is superb, and the latte art is gorgeous! 10/10!

Found this place on a coffee blog and loved it! The atmosphere is very chill, open, and airy. The baristas were very knowledgeable and kind, offering great suggestions and even adding “If you hate it, bring it back and we will make you something different.” I ended up getting a pour over of their La Mejor blend, and it was the perfect balance of citrus and chocolate. Definitely check out this place if you’re looking for a high end cup of coffee.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Coava coffee Roasters and I must say it was a fantastic experience! The moment I walked in, I was struck by how spacious and inviting the atmosphere is. It’s the perfect spot for both relaxing and catching up with friends. I met up for the 1st time with one of my friends to celebrate his recent job opportunity as a photographer in a fashion show. As a cake maker, I brought along a cake I made, and we paired it with some delicious coffee from the cafe. The combination of great coffee and celebratory cake made our time there even more special. The service was excellent, with the staff being friendly and attentive, which added to the overall positive vibe of the place. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to work, a meeting spot with friends, or simply to enjoy high-quality coffee , Coava coffee Roasters is definitely worth a visit. (Now we make excuses to go back with more cakes 😂) Every time I'm there, it’s always a blast, and I can’t wait for our next meetup!

Very cool java place located in the warehouse district. The coffee was excellent. The building gas got to be the coolest coffeehouse around located in the front of a facility that makes all kinds of items out of bamboo wood. Check out the pics- everything shown is made out of it!

Literally the best cup of coffee I have ever had ! Last time I had a cup as good as that one it cost me like 15 bucks for 8 oz cup and they just blew it out of the water hands down with just a simple pour over for only like 5 !

If you're in Portland and not sure where to go for coffee, go here. The coffee is excellent, and so is the place itself. We got the honey oatmilk Latte. It was creamy, rich, not-too-milky, and had the right amount of honey and sweetness. Honey flavor is not too overpowering. I like my coffee mildly strong, and that is how this one was. The interior of the place is interesting as well. It's very spacious with mostly indoor seating (well-ventilated), decorated with wood and old factory machines.
