A Portland Must-Visit for Coffee Lovers Coava Coffee Roasters is a Portland institution, and for good reason. It's the perfect place to relax with a book or catch up with friends. * Knowledgeable Staff: The baristas are passionate about coffee and happy to answer questions or make recommendations. Loved the space/atmosphere... huge warehouse type building with the high ceilings and industrial feel, as the café doubles as a woodshop in the off hours - very efficient use the building. the espresso was exceptional as well.. my only comment is, the baristas, as i have noticed in a few oregon cafés, seem to take themselves a little too seriously in a sort of pretentious way... call it hipster arrogance.. i dunno... was more humourous than annoying... be more kind... and less chemist.... but hey, it was a perfect espresso drink..
Honey Latte. It's $5, but so good. They make it with Local Bee Honey Water and I never knew a latter could be so simple yet delicious. I rarely drink half of my 8oz coffee I get at most places but I always finish this one... (yes a major caffeine high comes with it). The staff really take their time here preparing your coffee just right, whether is be a fancier drink or just a plain old cup of coffee, you can tell they like what they do. They share the space with this awesome bamboo carpentry shop and looking around at it while drinking your coffee, you feel like you're looking at art! I mean, the bathroom is amazing. Speaking of which, there is only 1 and it is unisex. If you're in the area, give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
This place is awesome. It’s a huge space for a coffee shop. The tables are all giant and there is plenty of seating. The coffee is top tier. I liked the small detail of steel cups for the self serve water.
Of the 50+ coffee shops in Portland that I visited during the past several months when I called this city home, this Coava is the one I chose to have my last latte before leaving. The image of its airy space drenched in warm, afternoon sunlight, and the hospitality of its staff will be part of my best Portland memories. I just LOVE this place. Its location isn't the typical hip or lively spot but has its distinct aura. Industrial, tranquil, with a hint of optimism. The interior is simply gorgeous. Featuring woodwork machinery from their furniture showroom neighbor, the room is unusually spacious for a coffee shop with a calm charm that only comes with age. The baristas are so friendly and chill, and the coffee…as good as it gets.
A super cool coffee shop in East side of Portland. It is combined with a bamboo goods studio and they have many interesting looking products. Coffee is superb as usual. Only thing is while they have many big tables, the number of chairs are so limited. I’d like to see more chairs in this shop.

This coffee shop is super cool. I love the open industrial space. It's cool and inviting. The space is huge and has a really cool vibe. The staff was not very friendly but it wasn't too bad. The coffee was fantastic it tasted amazing and was beautifully crafted. I would definitely return. No sugar free options but plenty of dairy free options
A fantastic experience and some of the best coffee we had in Portland. If I lived here I would go back for sure. I love the space and the personality of the location. It appears to be an old wood working facility though I could be wrong. This is the complete opposite of a cramped cafe type coffee shop. You and your party will have plenty of space to be together if that is what you are looking for. The baristas clearly know what they are doing which I really enjoyed. The foam was creamy and not overblown, the chocolate flavor what present but not overly so. A good, proper coffee beverage.
