Pick up and drop off were the simplest and most professional I have experienced in many years of renting cars. At pick up, the attendant helped us choose the car we sought and even helped us load our luggage into it. The woman who accepted our car at return was gracious, friendly, and very professional. We had run into traffic on the way to the airport, so I did not have time to top off the gas tank before returning the car. She was able to get us on our way quickly, made sure we knew the way to the shuttle and was able to tell me almost instantly what the gas charge and our total charge would be. The car we rented, a Toyota Corolla, was in great condition and was perfect for the urban driving we had to do for the weekend.
It is so easy and convenient to rent from Alamo. I really appreciate that after picking up your car they email/text you a day or two before your rental is completed and have you confirm your return date and time. It really helps especially if you have a flight change then you are easily able to modify the reservation without spending forever on the phone.
We had an exceptional experience with Alamo, particularly with Mitch and Jonathon at Logan Airport in Boston after an unexpected 17-hour drive from Chicago because of a canceled flight. These fine young men provided exceptional, professional, and prompt service. As frequent vehicle renters, we will no longer consider any other car rental company after this positive experience. Where competent, genuine and personable customer service is lacking these days, we appreciate Alamo hiring and rewarding such fine employees. Thanks again Mitch and Jonathon - keep up the exceptional work. You brightened our extremely long day!
Car was great but I needed to return the vehicle earlier than expected. Alamo wouldn't give me a refund for the day vehicle was returned early stating I'd used a 3rd party to rent the vehicle. The 3rd party contacted Alamo saying they'd be happy to refund the time vehicle was not used but Alamo seemed to be unwilling to cooperate.
Alamo Rentals in Boston was AMAZINHG. They wer able to provide me a vehicle, at the spare of the moment, hassle-free. The car was a brand new Jeep, and the process was so quick. Totally recommend Alamo in Boston. Stay away from Budget!!!
My experience in terms of services was remarkable extremely helpful staff and friendly. The car I received may have needed a little bit of TLC. If able to trace back to the Corrola there was an odd smell coming of it. I had to use my own cologne or deodorizing spray each time along with rolling the windows down. Otherwise the car was steady and had good bones. That’s the only reason for 4 stars only.
In and out at the airport is very efficient. Cars are OK, but fairly clean and functional. Gas Calculation is however not correct. I filled up about 7 miles from the airport as it was really the only one on the way and I was in a hurry. The car said it was getting 20miles/galllon. So at most this should have been 1/2 gallon charge. They charged me for two gallons. Not a big deal, but I am sure this is how they increase their margins, charging just a little more but not enough to make anyone really fight it.
First off, the car and folks at pickup at Logan Airport in Boston were great. I had a skip the counter res so went directly to the garage, everyone friendly and helpful. However...before my rental I was trying to figure out how Alamo handles tolls in Massachusetts. I got two conflicting messages from two different phone calls, one who seemed to have a hard time understanding what I was talking about and then told me I needed to pick up transponder at the counter (wrong). Hung up, tried again, next rep said no transponder, toll would be on plate and I'd be charged JUST the tolls, no administrative fee. Well, the helpful young man at pickup said there WOULD be a daily administrative fee in addition to the tolls. It will be a while before that bill comes in so can't verify that. But, as I said, car was great, pickup and drop off experience very good.
The actual car rental went very well. The type of car we had booked was available and it met our needs. The most helpful part of the rental was the person who checked us in upon returning the car. He was very friendly, took the time to get me a printed receipt and also to show us how to get to the shuttle to the airport. The actual shuttle experience was about a 2-star. The signs on the walkway and by the line of buses were not well marked and there was no one around to point us to the right bus, since different buses stop at different terminals. Allow plenty of time if you are returning a rental car at the Boston Logan Airport.
Hired a car for six days from Alamo at Boston airport. The whole process was pretty painless and staff were very pleasant. Car had only 300 miles on the clock so was in perfect condition and very clean. No problems at pick up or drop off. Couldn’t fault it.
