Very great communication, extremely responsive during all phases of the project. I was not hard sold at all, I felt like they wanted my best interest more than other solar companies I talked to. So far very happy with the production.

We invested ~$20,000 in solar expecting it would offset most, if not all, of our electric bill, but that has not been the outcome. The system itself appears to be producing as designed; the issue is how the system size and expectations were presented during the sales process, without any written proposal or offset modeling provided beforehand. We had only been in our home for a couple of months when we explored solar. We shared that we work from home and were planning to purchase an EV, yet no detailed modeling or documentation outlining expected usage, production, or offset was ever provided prior to signing. Other solar companies we spoke with actually advised us to wait until we had a longer utility history to ensure proper system sizing, which, in hindsight, we wish we had done. We also mentioned that we preferred the panels be placed on the rear of the home if possible. That was simply an aesthetic preference, not a requirement, and we relied on their expertise to determine whether that placement would still allow the system to meet the goals discussed. Instead, this preference has since been used to shift responsibility onto us, which does not reflect how the decision was presented at the time. After installation, we later learned the system was effectively treated as a smaller “starter system.” This was never communicated to us during the sales process and only came up after we raised concerns. Had that been clearly explained upfront, we would have made a very different decision or waited until we had more accurate usage data. As a result, we are now paying a monthly solar loan while still carrying a meaningful electric bill, which is not the outcome we understood or expected when making this investment. To their credit, the system appears to function and they acknowledged a delay in communication. However, the core issue (how the system was sized and how expectations were set without written documentation) remains unresolved. If you are considering solar, make sure you receive a detailed written proposal that clearly outlines expected usage, production, and offset before signing anything.

I am really impressed with Smart Solar Energy! They didn’t use any pushy sales tactics, they just told us what they can do and let us decide. They sent a surveyor out to our home and then drafted engineering plans. Next, after they obtained county permits, they installed the electrical equipment and the American made solar panels. The setup passed the county inspection and the power company came out and installed our net meter. Jenn communicated with us through each step and what to expect next. They didn’t leave any mess to cleanup afterwards and were very professional. - And no, I was not paid or encouraged to write this review.

I am very satisfied with Smart Solar Energy. Jordan, Jenn and the installation crew (crew on your roof and electricians) were excellent to work with from quoting, to inspection, to permitting, to installation, to system start-up, and finally to our closing call. After we decided to have solar installed on our roof, we selected Smart Solar Energy to install our solar system for four reasons in order: 1) price 2) 25 year service/parts/labor warranty 3) friendliness 4) PNW business. Jordan's quote was very competitive and was actually better than 4 other solar vendors we interviewed. Jordan, Jenn, and the installers were also incredibly friendly through the whole process. Everyone at Smart Solar Energy was punctual and did an excellent job setting the home owners expectations at every step of the project. As homeowners, we did not have to schedule anything. Smart Solar Energy handled every communication with the city, utility company, and their installation crew. This was by far the most simple project that I have ever done to my home. All the homeowner has to do is let the inspector in, pay the deposit, let the installers in, pay the remaining balance, and set-up the monitoring app on your smartphone. I am really happy with my experience with Smart Solar Energy, they are as great company to work with. From my first call with Jordan, site review with Taylor and the management of my project with Jenn, everyone was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They even filled out my loan application, explained the loan process and submitted my application. They took care of everything and were very responsive to any questions I had. I especially appreciate how up front they were about the timeline from start to finish and was pleasantly surprised when it took less time than expected. Smart Solar installed on our roof beautiful set of solar panels and the actual installation was completed within a few hours. I was impressed with the service and professionalism. Also it was nice to get the panels installed right before summer, one-month before the original estimate. The communication with both Jordan and Jenn was prompt and efficient. I will also use them when I am ready to expand our system in the future. After a few months, it is nice to track the Watts generated and used on my phone.

From the initial conversation with Jordan, to the quality work done by the installers, and then with project manager Jenn taking care of all the details, they have a fantastic team that is committed to customer service. Smart Solar Energy answered questions via Zoom, phone and in person. They provided all the answers to our questions, provided suggestions and recommendations, and made sure we understood what was happening every step of the way. The installation went smoothly and we are up and running. There is customer service which is very responsive, and everyone was cheerful and friendly, even the two installers who were out in the pouring January rain and wind. We have had solar before, and are very impressed with Smart Solar Energy's performance.
