Great place if you're looking for premium sake. The owner is friendly and inviting and loves educating visitors on the finer points of Japanese sake through delightful tastings. But be forewarned, this is not a restaurant, it's a liquor store that only offers sake.
The best place in Seattle to get sake, both at the bar and for taking home. The owner is incredibly knowledgable and friendly, and will help you navigate their massive selection. Every time I'm in the neighborhood I pop in for a drink and end up taking a bottle or two home. Kanpai!
You must visit Sake Nomi if you like sake or are simply curious. We started with their flights and were impressed with their diverse offerings and unique tastes. Loved their clean junmai and nigori with subtle sweetness. I am no sake expert, but Sake Nomi taught me that drinking sake alone can be a pleasant experience. The bartender (I think he's the owner) was welcoming, and the ambience is casual. Sake Nomi is another reason to visit downtown and pioneer square. I'll be back.
This quiet bar is definitely worth checking out if you are near Chinatown and enjoy a good chilled sake.
If you know anything about sake or want an education: come to Sake Nomi. Browse the shelves and learn yourself some facts; have a flight of tasters guided by the master Sake connoisseur. Buy a bottle (or two) and delight your friends with a new and exotic taste. Cool space that's easily accessible in Pioneer Square.
Good old sake bar, it is such a rarity in Northern Corridor that you can find a shop that sells and serve sake. The old master here knows a lot about sake so you can pick his brain on that topic. This tiny little shop reminds me of that family shop in Osaka that has been around since the 1900 that shop has that same characteristic as this one. Simple and quiet where you can sip sake without rancorous music or incessant talking of a traditional bar.
Great place to try some different sakes with a weekly rotating menu
Small place off the main street. There should be a sign on the sidewalk to point it out. Normally very quiet and sake tasting available. There are a lot of sake available for purchase. Flights are available for purchase too. I come here when I am looking for something different then what I can find at any grocery store. The gentleman that runs the place is super nice. He is very knowledgable about sake so makes it easier to find good suggestions. The only downside for most people is there no food for purchase here. You need to bring your own, or eat beforehand. I think not serving food adds a bit of charm to this place.
I stumbled upon Sake Nomi as it was next to an underground tour I signed up for...was an excellent experience! I highly recommend stopping in if you're interested in learning about sake...if not, still swing by because Johnnie is super knowledgeable & very engaging so even the novice won't feel out of place!
So I got to sake nomi at 4pm on 3/6 but there was a hand written letter on the door the said "be right back". Which totally understand but they were gone for about 30 minutes minimum. When my group finally got in, our server was the only one there and didn't have a single interest. Between seating ourselves, asking how glass/flights work. The server didn't really dive into anything about the sakes instead he gave us pamphlets. To be fair the sake was delicious! Afterwards we checked out the retail area where the server didn't stand up to help us as all. Which is a shame because they had an amazing selection! The place was amazing but the servers lack or excitement/interesting left my group and I confused and feeling unwelcomed.
