I've been wanting to try this place for a few years and finally had a chance. Their Moroccan mint tea is on point. Many people and even Moroccans claim they can make mint tea, but very few get it right. The place is clean and staff are so friendly. It has a nice modern urban ambience. Their verbena tea/chai was a really good experience. The verbena propitiates your taste buds while the silky milk questions your existence. Their extra pistachio latte was really nice for those that love coffee and pistachio. Pistachio was strong enough to taste it over the coffee but light enough not to be over powering. Finally, if you love scones their fresh baked scone selection is massive. Will definitely going their again the next time I travel to Portland
I was searching for a quick breakfast place nearby since we were in town visiting and planned to take a day trip outside the city. That's when Ovation caught my eye because it had hundreds and hundreds of reviews with a perfect 5-star rating. We got here at around 8:45 AM on President's Day and there were a few street parking spots available. They have many, many drinks so I would recommend looking up the menu beforehand and deciding (which is what I did), or else it can be overwhelming if you have to decide in the store. I had the iced Moroccan mint tea, which was super refreshing. My husband had the vanilla matcha latte and it was sickeningly sweet. Even he says so, and he is the one with the sweet tooth. For food, I had the Supreme Biscuit (egg patty stuffed with spinach, garlic, mushrooms, tomato, and mozzarella cheese, topped with turkey sausage and layered with pepperjack and cheddar). This was good but after eating it for a while, I noticed there was some spice in it that I wasn't a huge fan of, but couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. I liked my husband's sammie better. He had the Gyro Biscuit (lamb gyro, egg patty, goat cheese, roasted tomato on a biscuit). I've never had a breakfast sandwich with gyro in it, so I liked it. However, I don't like goat cheese so that's why I didn't get this one for myself. If I could go back, I would see if they could sub the cheese for a different one. Although the breakfast menu is small with just four sandwiches on it, I appreciate the uniqueness of it. Overall, it was still a nice breakfast. It was not overly heavy, yet filling enough to last us until a late lunch.
Firstly, the staff is very considerate, goes above and beyond during the pandemic to follow all state/CDC guidelines to protect their customers. I cannot rant about how much I am enamored with their use of Moroccan spices. From the first sip of their dirty chai, I was HOOKED. When you walk into the café you are greeted with smiles, the relaxing ambience and kindness from staff has me coming back time and time again. This has become a destination location for my coworkers and I, 100000/10 recommend
Ovation continues to be my favorite coffee shop in PDX. Love the Moroccan Pistachio Latte (4 shots in a large) and whenever possible, I try all their delicious flavors of scones. They only come out a few times a morning and will sell out fast. The chocolate almond croissant is also to die for.
I love this place in Portland, my favorite thing is to walk over here on sundays and drink a coffee with a scone! Scones are delicious, the best ones I have tried so far. Really well balanced the sugar. The staff in the place it's always so nice and the service it's so perfect. It's a nice place to sit inside and share a morning with your loved ones!
loved finding this place for a walking distance sweet treat! always super fun seasonal flavors and variations of them. i’m also celiac and they have a gluten free option for their breakfast sandwiches which are served all day. super sweet and cute gals ✨
I watched the store manager talk down to a patron because they were buying a homeless man a sandwich. To be clear, this man did not solicit inside of the shop. He was brought in with the patron and then made to stand outside to wait. Disgusting behavior from a place that has built their company on the back of the Portland community. They should feel honored that their customers are generous and remind themselves it’s easy to go to another coffee shop.
absolutely delicious, and very different from your average Portland cafe. they've got all glass exterior walls which brings in the light from outside, but it's super well lit inside without being overwhelming. and the baristas were both excellent, and quick too! I ordered a pistachio milk (!?) mocha, and the barista who made it asked if i wanted the morrocan spice on it... ya'll. get the morrocan spice on it. it was an absolutely divine experience; i've never had pistachio milk before, so the whole thing was an experience on first sip. i also got a veggie biscuit (for $5!! in downtown?!) which was also incredible, and came out piping hot which is exactly what i needed on this cold morning. i will definitely be back here. it's dangerous that I will be in the area twice a week!
I go in to get hot coffee, cold brew or blended drinks. The staff are just the sweetest people. They remember my order and even my name. Ovation is my favorite coffee shop. I haven’t tried a lot of the food, but the Spinach Feta croissant and the egg salad sandwich are standouts.
Wow!! The BEST coffee and pastry place in Portland, period! The second I walked in the door I was greeted with such kindness and excitement. I met the son of the family business as well as his mother who make all of the pastries daily. They couldn't have been nicer! I tried Macaroon pistachio latte, with a twist of blended macaroon spices (so delicious!). I was hesitant, but glad I tried something new. Absolutely divine! Sat outside to enjoy the beautiful cool, sunshine and view of the park. Nothing like this in Alabama or anywhere I’ve traveled thus far. This entire area was very urban and had great vibes, regardless of the city your in lol Probably the best day during my visit!
