I am a big fan of the SLU location (and rated it 5 stars). I had a bad experience at the new Rainer location today. It might be opening pains, but if you're equidistant between the two -- SLU has a better atmosphere with more seating options. 1 - I ordered online for the "next available time" at 12:30p. 2 - I arrived 20 minutes later, and as my order wasn't ready, I asked if they had an estimate. The associate said she would check (but never returned). 3 - I asked again 15 minutes later, and I was told to wait again (and that it should be brought out in the next 15 minutes). 4 - My order (a salad) arrived 43 minutes after I ordered. I understand it was quite packed as it is their second day. (I would say the atmosphere was a 0 today but didn't rank it as such as the crowds and very loud music were a one-off). However, I was disappointed about the staff's inability to triage a bit better. Folks who ordered in person seemed to wait 10-15 minutes. Once I arrived (20 minutes after my order) and mentioned it wasn't ready, one would hope they put me in the queue for in-person folks -- even putting me at the end (despite having already ordered) would have had me out sooner. Also it was disappointing no one came back when I inquired about the order being ready. The item itself also wasn't as good as the SLU location. In particular, the portioning wasn't as generous, with noticeably less protein (chicken). This may also be because they were running low given the crowds?
This is my first time here and I'm impressed. I'll definitely be returning.
DO NOT GO!!! A victim of their own success, the mediocre food takes far, far too long to get. Not worth the wait. They don't dawdle they just take far too many orders. In response to the Mendocino farms response... No I don't think you are capable of much more, nor am I now a "Mendo" fan. If you want that to be your name, make it your name. Giving yourself a nickname is horrendous.
Everyone was really nice, the space was perfect, and the food was good!
Light, airy. Not a huge choice of food, but it was fine.
Their chimichurri steak sandwich is the best of these fast casual health spots! My order has always been ready at the time I've ordered for it. It's also open on the weekends and is super clean.
Finally after a long wait Mendocino is open in the Rainier Square NW corner. Feels like a great alternate to downtown fresh food lunch places. Great selections of salads, sandwiches and soups. Downtown location abutting PCC market is not that easy. Wish Mendocino a great success. Can't wait to try out their specialties. Actual star rating will be updated once I have a chance to immerse in full lunch experience.
I’ve been eating here 5-10 times and every time the sandwiches end up being a massive mess to eat. The potato salad tasted off, along with the pasta salad. Honestly all of the sides suck. Not worth the wait, especially during lunch rush.
Got the chicken parm dip at the recommendation of the enthusiastic employee at the counter, and must compliment the suggestion! Delicious!
Simply Disappointed… I ordered a Chicken Pesto Caprese sandwhich to go. I was in meetings all day and had to grab a quick bite. I chose Mendocino because they have healthy options and this was my first time going to this location. I arrived at about 1:10pm and got my order around 1:23pm on Friday 2/16/24. I got to my office and had 2 minutes before my 1:30 meeting (where I was presenting). I took a bite of the sandwich and would save the rest for after my meeting. It tasted funny but I was hungry and put it away. After my meeting I opened the sandwich and the chicken was raw! I had 3 back to back meetings after that so I was unable to report it immediately. I texted this picture to my girlfriend to let them know about it since I was occupied. They said I would get a refund which is still hasn’t come through. 2 days later we get an email from Hollyann Lillie stating it was prosciutto in this picture not raw chicken. The Chicken Pesto Caprese sandwich doesn’t come with prosciutto or nuts which I’m also allergic too as well. It looks like the Prosciutto & Chicken Sandwich got mixed in with the Chicken Pesto Caprese sandwich. Needless to say I had a long night of bathroom visits. This is definitely a training opportunity with the team. Restaurants make mistakes but I feel like people need to know when someone calls raw chicken something else and be dismissive about the feedback.
