With most of in US on a stay at home mandate I thought it would be difficult to get the process of selling my home completed. Hoard law and specifically their legal assistant Tamra made things that could have been difficult so simple. Great communication and problem solving. PLEASE READ! Our property was put under contract on June 19th. The 1st closing date was scheduled for July 22. This closing was rescheduled by buyer to July 26 at 3:00 due to delay of obtaining the required CD (23 days after offer was accepted). We received a call from the Hoard office 22nd to advise us of a zoom closing meeting scheduled for THAT day the 22nd. The paralegal was unaware the meeting had been rescheduled to July 26th at 3:00. At 2:59, July 26th, we received an email to accept the zoom invite for the closing. We were already in the office at that time, only to learn that the CD STILL had not arrived. Via the paralegal, Mr. Hoard advised we go ahead and sign our documents and do so outside in our car. They had no room available to go in (we assume shared office space). We were told to sign today or else wait for another day. We refused to be intimidated by signing a document when all documents were not disclosed. Also, errors were made and had to be corrected. That evening, we received an email from paralegal stating Mr. Hoard does not release of closing disclosures without a package from the lender beforehand to ensure for accuracy in the numbers. (Which had to be corrected!) Why, then, were we told to sign when we were there????? July 27th, at 8:14, we sent an email stating we had a tentative appt and let us know if a THIRD attempt would be that day. Our REALTOR was notified at 10:00, we could be seen at 11:00. That was very short notice and NOT enough time for us to get ready, drive the distance and be there on time. FINALLY, the Hoard office offered a time but our realtor would be not be allowed. They finally offered to send a notary to our home or another location for signing (AT OUR REALTOR'S EXPENSE). Again, errors were found. My SS# was listed over my husband's name and I had his # over my name. During all this, we never met Mr. Hoard! If you are a seller and find that buyer has the Hoard law firm, DEMAND a different closing attorney. My husband stated if he ever had to face opposing council, he would hope it would be Mr. Hoard for his lack of doing his homework.

Mr. Hoard represented the buyer of a house I just sold in Reid Park section of Charlotte. He is the most disorganized attorney I have had the pleasure to deal with. I provided him with all the requested paperwork 3 weeks prior to the scheduled closing date. On the day of the closing he reviewed the paperwork that had previously read and approved by his staff and rejected it. We had to scramble to obtain documents from a private lender who was touring a volcano in Hawaii with very limited reception. This caused unnecessary stress and aggravation for something that simply could of been done more efficiently had he reviewed the documents previously. After the closing, he still held the money up and continued to demand more documents. His arrogance is unwarranted. I highly recommend you avoid his services.

Mr Hoard is an excellent attorney. He takes time to make sure you understand everything and works in your best interests every time. There is nothing like having a trust-worthy attorney on your side!
