When I leave reviews, I always try to be transparent, the good, the bad, and the ugly. HW Legal Group was actually referred to me through my employer legal plan, and overall, the team was great to work with. When I first connected with Michael, one thing I quickly realized is that he doesn’t give fluff or sugarcoat things, he’s very straight to the point. But honestly, he gets the job done, and I can appreciate that. I know sometimes people may expect a warmer approach initially, but at the end of the day, he’s an attorney focused on results and guidance. I’m relieved my bankruptcy process is finally almost over because one of the best parts of it ending is knowing I never have to work with Michael Hoard again. While my case was ultimately filed, the overall experience was honestly exhausting and disappointing from a client-service standpoint. Communication was consistently poor. Responses were often vague, dismissive, cold, or completely ignored altogether. There was very little guidance throughout the process, very little transparency about next steps, and almost no proactive follow-up unless I pushed for answers myself. Bankruptcy is already an incredibly stressful and vulnerable experience for people, and instead of feeling supported or informed by my attorney, I frequently felt like I was navigating major parts of the process alone while being treated like an inconvenience for asking reasonable questions about my own case. The most frustrating part was the complete lack of follow-up and communication after critical steps were completed. Payments were made, deadlines were met, documents were submitted, and I still found myself chasing basic status updates or clarity while receiving responses that felt transactional at best and dismissive at worst. Nearly two months passed after the trustee payment had already been delivered and cleared my account with virtually no meaningful update or reassurance regarding the status of my case unless I continued pressing for answers myself. One interaction that especially stood out was when I followed up regarding my case still showing “awaiting trustee” nearly two months after the trustee payment had already been delivered and cleared my account. I was initially told that follow-up with the trustee was not included in their services and that I could contact the trustee directly myself. After doing exactly that, I later received a response stating that the trustee had confirmed receipt of funds and asking me not to follow up with him further — despite being the one instructed to contact the trustee in the first place. Instead of directly responding to my actual concern and providing reassurance, the communication felt unnecessarily cold and dismissive. To be fair, the case was filed and processed, and when a creditor issue escalated, action was eventually taken. But good legal service is not just filing paperwork. Communication, professionalism, empathy, transparency, and client guidance matter too — and that was severely lacking here. I would never use this attorney again, and I personally would not recommend his services to anyone who values communication, reassurance, or feeling like an actual human being during a difficult legal process.

I just closed on my house on January 30. I was the seller. Everyone is the office was kind and helpful. If you are looking for an attorney as a seller, I would recommend them. I didn't have any issues. Closing went smoothly
